All told, we loved Corpse Party. Its narrative focus naturally means that this isn't a game for everyone, but it's nice to experience something a little different like this. Still, Corpse Party does show its age in some parts (as it's an expansion of a PSP original); the irritating instances that torch long sections of progress are unwelcome and a bit too frequent, bogging down an otherwise effective plot. Yet despite this we still give this game a strong recommendation; it should be tempting to anybody who's interested in reading a great horror story in a more hands-on, interactive fashion. It doesn't get much better than Corpse Party in that respect - this is a well-crafted, creepy tale you won't want to miss.

Corpse Party on Nintendo 3DS will scare you like nothing else can and it is is the near best version of the game on any platform.

If you’re a fan of games that mix visual novel narrative with light gameplay elements like Zero Escape or Ace Attorney, and you’re itching for something like that that falls into the horror genre, you absolutely need to try out Corpse Party.

From beginning to end I was completely entranced by these kids' quest to escape the horrors of Heavenly Host. Corpse Party has a timeless story built around solid characters and a genuinely creepy setting that is able to buoy its sometimes outdated gameplay.

With significant improvements over the PSP version, the 3DS port of Corpse Party proves to be the definitive version to play, and for those in the mood for a horror game before Spooktober comes to an end, this nightmarish trip to Heavenly Host Elementary School just might be what you’re looking for.

Corpse Party is finally available for Nintendo fans, and it's not the most optimal experience, but the game is still horrifying nearly five years later.

Happy Halloween! What’s a better way to spend the most frightful day of the year than watching Japanese children get murdered in Corpse Party?

Corpse Party is full of details that will either delight or appall the players, depending on their tastes but it will certainly not go unnoticed with its high quality audiovisual environment and capacity to plunge the players in its universe. While it pushes too far its conditions to reach the game's best ending and can become predictable at certain moments, Corpse Party is a welcome and necessary addition to the 3DS catalogue as far as horror games are concerned.

Corpse Party on 3DS is an improvement on an already excellent game.

Even though this is the best version of Corpse Party available on the market right now, we can't stop thinking that the port is somewhat lazy, since neither the 3D effect nor the touch screen are utilized as much as 3DS fans were hoping. But if you love Japanese horror games, you won't find better options than Corpse Party on 3DS.

A few minor flaws hold back this updated version of Corpse Party, but it's still an intense horror experience that fans of the genre should check out. It even offers more content than previous versions, via extra chapters.

A weird, niche, visually out-of-date little game from a Japanese team you’ve probably never heard of became one of the best horror games to be released in America in years back in 2013. Now, it’s being given new life on the 3DS, and the changes it’s received make for a better experience—mostly.

End of the day, it’s just a rehash of the second iteration of the original Japanese launch, but more feature complete and features better illustrations than the Steam version. Give this a whirl if you’re interested in trying a solid J-horror game. Otherwise maybe just watch the Anime OVA, live action movie or read the manga that’s currently being published by Yen Press.

Corpse Party for the 3DS is an engaging horror title that is more than the sum of its parts. Solid writing and top-notch sound design elevate basic visuals into something more. If you're a fan of Japanese-style horror writing, there's a lot to like here. It can occasionally devolve into the ridiculous or repetitive, but there are enough genuine moments of horror to help the game over its weak points. Given the flaws and lack of replay value, however, it's difficult to give this title a full-on recommendation. If you're in the market for something spooky, Corpse Party is a good bet, but it isn't a game for everyone.

Corpse Party is a great, different game, one that a system as far along in its life cycle as 3DS greatly needs to keep things fresh. If you’ve been looking for something off the beaten path, I highly recommend picking this one up.

Orson Welles once said the enemy of art is the absence of limitations and that rings true for Corpse Party. A game made decades ago on outdated RPG Maker software is as successful in achieving its vision today as it always was because the creator used the limited palette effectively. The reliance on imagination and familiarity with Japanese horror influences present in Corpse Party aren’t going to resonate universally, but some of that horror defies cultural barriers and speaks to the human condition.

While it's a shame it's lacking the exclusive bonus chapter from the recently released PC version, this is otherwise the most content rich edition of a great horror game. The new content here is definitely nice, but it's the kind of side content that doesn't necessarily justify double dipping for those who own any of the other releases, but absolutely makes it a great entry point for anyone who hasn't yet delved into the horrors 'Corpse Party' has on offer. With a clear understanding of how to do a lot with very little, and just how to keep things scary, 'Corpse Party' still feels just as terrifying as it did five years ago, and is well worth checking out for any horror fan.

Either digitally or physically, this is a must-have game for Nintendo 3DS owners that are into horror games. The game is very fun, the story is twisted and macabre, and will keep you busy for a while. The one complaint I could have is that the game is not presented in 3D during gameplay and only uses 3D for still images, but that would be the one thing. Playing in the dark with headphones is the best way to immerse yourself in the Corpse Party universe, so be sure to play it right!
