Prey is Arkane Studios' best work to date, and is a thrilling sci-fi journey into a world of question and uncertainty.

Prey is an outstanding example both as a sci-fi thriller and an FPS. Talos 1 tells its own story as players explore and immerse you.

Prey presented the same key features that were a major reason for the success of previous Arkane studio games, such as absolute freedom in the style of gameplay, the list of skills with many choices, a world that is perfectly designed and rich in detail and hours of to roam and remunerative exploration, but there are other elements that have not been given the same quality like combat, the story that has lost its luster in the middle of the events, also suffering the futility of the stealth system or the existence of significant differences between the enemy factions.

Prey is a game that focuses on looting and discovering items. But these giant cockroaches called mimics are a serious problem. The horror elements never should’ve been added to a game with this style of gameplay. The level design is not as good as what we’ve seen in Dishonored and The enemies and the battles even worse. The role-playing elements and the player’s choices are still fun but sadly Arkane studios really didn’t make it this time.

Prey is not a perfect game, but the excellent world building, characters, and stories kept me invested enough to see the credits role.

Mix in Dishonored, System Shock, Death Space and Deus Ex, and you have a new game named Prey! And although it suffers from some underdeveloped gameplay mechanics and lack of weapons, if you give it time, it’ll give you satisfaction.

A highly polished immersive sim that although on first glance looks generic, has lots of good ideas and real depth. The star of Prey though is the amazing space station it's set on, a joy to explore.

After playing Prey and experiencing its nonprogressive and unbalanced gameplay, all I can think of is if Prey was the exact reboot which Bethesda was looking for and whether such a mediocre game was worth the cancellation of Prey 2 or not.

Besides a map system that could be better and a few glitched side quests, my experience with Prey was flawless. There were some misteps near the end, but the final scene gave me chills and the existential implications therein made it all worth it. To me, Prey easily stands toe to toe with some of the best sci-fi games in recent years, and if the world is just, should be remembered as one of the finest gaming experiences of all time. This is an instant classic that you shouldn't overlook.

Prey is a bold entry in sci-fic genre of first person shooters that takes inspiration from classics like System Shock. Despite a lackluster combat system, the game offers plenty of exciting moments with its brilliantly designed inter-connected world of Talos 1 that is a joy to explore.

Prey is a great survival horror FPS that inherits the best elements from Bioshock and Dishonored, and although it does not reinvent the genre, it features well-polished mechanics that deliver a high level challenge for players.

Prey feels like a 'Greatest Hits' collection of various artists' songs. It offers almost nothing new, some tracks you won't ever listen to, but every other song sounds great and brings positive emotions. Prey isn't perfect, but overall it's a good game, and hopefully its shortcomings will be fixed in the next Arkane's release.

Deep, systemic and old school, Prey is a beautiful and haunting world to explore and overcome. A reminder of long forgotten design philosophies applied to modern game design.

At the opposite end of all the innovative ideas in Prey 2006, What hurts this game so deeply (besides combat of course!) is that it tries so hard to pack everything in one game: Bioshock's narrative and atmosphere, Dishonored's gameplay and mechanichs and a System Shock-esque setting. Prey is neither of those games; it can't even set its fundumental ideas correctly and the flaws in narrative (if there is any!) turn Prey into one of the thousands of mediocre games out there

A game that excels in giving you the freedom to pursue your own style of play, set in an interconnected world that begs to be explored and its secrets uncovered. Some of the simplistic side quests and the superficial ending might disappoint, but is still manages to be a game worth experiencing.

Prey's dynamic gameplay adapts beautifully to players as they explore an interesting space station crawling with bizarre alien life forms. Its involving action proves entertaining when combined with a solid base of resource management. Despite a few presentation problems and minor issues, Prey is one mind-altering trip that should be played by fans of the genre.

Despite its issues, which should be addressed in short order, Prey is a stunning gem. Not since the venerable System Shock 2 has there been an immersive simulator that succeeds in everything it sets out to do. Talos-1 is masterful in both its construction and design. Players are given limitless freedom to approach every possible situation, lending the game unparalleled levels of replay value. Also, it's rare to see a purely single-player experience retain its freshness in the face of a lengthy play-time. This is just as compelling in the 30th hour as it is in the first.

Prey expertly blends a compelling narrative with open level design, a fear-inducing mechanic and near-unparalleled player freedom to deliver an appealing, atmospheric and aesthetically pleasing chunk of sci-fi that will get sink its spiky teeth into you and never let go.
