Dragon Quest Heroes II it's a great improvement compared with the original game. It offers a very enjoyable hack-and-slash experience, one that rewards experimentation with the characters and its abilities. Even with some pacing issues, this love letter to the fans keeps the essence of the series and gives it a new purpose with the help of impressive visuals.

Dragon Quest Heroes II is an enjoyable hack and slash sequel with a great array of characters and enemies. It continues on the good work of the first title in conjuring the feel of the Dragon Quest series, but it's still just a Musou title underneath it all with all the repetitive combat that entails. While the RPG elements add a nice level of customisation, it can all feel a little too prescribed to be truly enthralling.

Like some unholy love child, Dragon Quest Heroes II continues its predecessor's attempts at merging JRPG conventions with the hack-and-slash gameplay of the “Musou” or “Warriors” franchise. Although it isn't always a perfect union, Dragon Quest Heroes II is a fun romp that provides one of the more challenging experiences in Koei Tecmo's “Warriors” franchise. If you enjoyed the first game or Hyrule Warriors, you'll certainly want to try this one out.

Dragon Quest Heroes II is an hack-and-slash Dynasty Warriors clone that's laced with appreciated RPG flavoring. A must for any Dragon Quest fan, and a nice starter to those who aren't into this kind of genre.

Omega Force and Square Enix fixed all flaws presented in Dragon Quest Heroes. Sequel is bigger, better and without any bad things which made previous game not so good as it could be. Truly great showcase how to make good sequel.

Dragon Quest Heroes II is a solid sequel to a refreshing take on the musou genre. I love that Omega Force has been expanding on the style for a while now. These themed entries are often much more interesting than the standard 'Warriors' games. Still, some of the changes feel not for the best, and the combat started to drag on the longer I played.

Dragon Quest continues to be the most successful partner for Dynasty Warriors, but the pace of improvement remains painfully slow.

As an RPG, Dragon Quest Heroes 2 if brimming with flaws, but none of them detract from the flashy action combat that the Musou series is renowned for.

Dragon Quest Heroes 2 does enough right to set itself apart from the pack, even it does overstay its welcome. If you are looking for a good hack-and-slash game that you can just have mindless fun with, Dragon Quest Heroes 2 was made for you.

Offering you more freedom to explore and customise your characters, Dragon Quest Heroes 2 is undoubtedly a commendable follow-up to its predecessor even though it feels more than a little bit samey at times.

Making me wander over to the shop to purchase a stat upgrade already behind a progression gate is so pointless.

Dragon Quest Heroes II might feel more like an expansion than a sequel – but its a polished game that every fan of the original will enjoy.

Dragon Quest Heroes 2 is a much more focused action RPG compared to its predecessor, it starts with an adventure that goes through the main Dragon Quest lore while providing cameos from each of the main cast of characters in the Dragon Quest universe. It is aimed at the fans of the series but even if you aren't a fan, you will enjoy the multitude of characters and hack-and-slash gameplay that manages to avoid the repetitive nature of similar games in this genre.

Charming and sympathetic Musuo offshoot, which adds new elements to the mass brawls and is also worth a try for sceptics.

There's a lot to be played and a lot of fun to be had here, if you loved the first chapter of the series. Unfortunately, despite some improvements, you'll find the same limitations as well.
