Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite reuses a lot of old content and doesn’t keep up with modern day fighting games. The mission mode is great, the story and arcade are not. The character designs are the ugliest I have ever seen in a fighting game. They look nothing like the original characters. It’s as if Capcom intentionally tried to make them as ugly as possible. It’s an okay fighting game for younger audiences, easy to learn due to simple move lists, but hard to master due to countless combo possibilities. If you’re a fan of the series it’s worth a look, otherwise stick with more modern fighting games.

A good but not great beat'em up that does everything perfect inside of the ring, but doesn't offer enought variety outside of it.

I have to admit, my first impressions of Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite weren't good.

Overall, the core of Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is there, but it feels significantly held back by its adherence to only use MCU marvel characters. It hampered the roster and character design, two constant elements of the experience, and it's hard to overlook those and see the strong fighting system underneath.

A flawed but fun fusion of two drastically different universes provides a unique arcade style fighting experience

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite may have some flaws with its visuals and roster, but its gameplay is so strong that its not too hard to overlook them.

Great fighting, but a drab art style and disappointing roster of characters let the side down.

I'm going to be playing Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite quite a bit over the next few years, but that doesn't change the fact that its feature set is less impressive than every other AAA fighter on the market. Capcom has said that they will be treating MVCI like a service so in a few years we might see it flesh out into the fighter we all wanted to begin with. I'd still recommend a purchase for fighting game fans or fans of the VS. series in general, but just know you aren't getting much outside of the core gameplay.

Even though Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is disappointing in a lot of ways, the combination of classic fighting and new gameplay mechanics results in some exhilarating battles, especially online.

There’s a fantastic game in there, but you have to be willing to dig past its flaws to really appreciate it.

It's always nice to see Marvel and Capcom working together on a fighting game and Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite is still a great fighting game with neat ideas. Infinity Stones are a breath of fresh air, and going back to a less chaotic 2v2 format makes it more playable at a lower level, but ultimately some of the silliness and wonder has been sucked out of its DNA. For the hardcore audience, it'll still play wonderfully and I had fun, but casual players will find little to sing and dance about.

The Capcom game's flippant approach to its pedigree is evident right from the beginning of its Story Mode.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is an ugly but otherwise enjoyable fighting game with recognizable characters, a ton of cutscenes, and is approachable for newcomers.

On the surface MvCI looks bland and lazy, but once you dive in you will find a fighting game that can stand with any other out there.

Despite some creditable gameplay changes Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite doesn't really offer something that stands out from their competitors. Hardcore Fans will still find some of their fan favorites in the upcoming DLCs but in it's current form we can't recommend this game.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is, like football, a game of two halves. The actual fighting half, which is arguably the more critical 50% anyway, is fun and exciting. The other half is a bit confusing.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite offers a very good and funny gameplay, but the game lacks in contents, expecially if compared to a lot of other beat'em ups you can play this year.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite looks ugly, feels kind of cheap at times, and suffers from a disappointing initial roster—but it's also a frenetically fun fighting game that got almost all of the things it needed to get right right. With (hopefully) a bit more polish and DLC helping to flesh out its character choices, this is set to become a worthy—if still flawed—new chapter in Capcom's beloved fighting franchise.

Good online options and genuinely fun gameplay mean that series fans will have plenty of incentive to keep fighting each other in the months to come.

Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite lacks on the story front with a short campaign full of fan service moments, but it does provide a deep and satisfying gameplay. The lack of 3 vs. 3 battles is somewhat forgiven in the light of the more focused battles and the Infinity Gems add an interesting layer of strategy to the overall combat system.
