Total War: Warhammer II Reviews
Total War Warhammer II is definitely a game I could see myself playing for a very long time and I, in fact, will be going back through to finish the various campaigns. If you're a strategy gamer, or if you want to jump into the Total War arena and have an extra $60 to spare, do yourself a huge favor and pick this up. You're not going to regret it.
Proving that a sequel can take a very different perspective, showcase a new part of the world, and be all the better for it.
Total War: Warhammer 2 has taken the original Total War: Warhammer and fixed a lot of the issues that people complained about. It’s breathed fresh life into the series and in my opinion possibly made the best entry into the series to date. It’s beautiful, hard, and fun. The new gameplay mechanics bring Total War into a higher realm of gameplay that makes you ask “Why didn’t they do this before?” This is something that I could get lost in, and sink in hundreds of hours into without realizing it.
Total War: Warhammer II is a more daring take on fantasy than its predecessor, adding Lizardmen (dinosaurs) and Skaven (rat-men) to the mix—but it's not necessarily a more daring Total War game.
While there aren't many factions and some of the Total War complexity can be vexing, as a whole, this is among the best versions of Warhammer to hit the PC yet.
Regardless of how its future looks, today we get to enjoy Total War Warhammer 2. With all its polish and rich Games Workshop lore, it's the most well balanced and enjoyable Total War game so far, and that's a strong accolade.
Honestly, this review could go on a lot more, but so much of it is attention to details and improvements on the prior title that it would miss the point. That point being that Total War: Warhammer II is a game where you can have a T-Rex throw down with a Wizard. There are great strategy elements, the new vortex victory is a great refresher from normal conquest types, and the new races are all great; but reading this review means missing out on the dino action. Total War Warhammer 2 shows once again why many developer can't keep up to the standards of this series and why its formula is unreachable for them.

The Magical Vortex that serves as the focal point for the campaign proves to be the spark of life that was missing from the series' first venture outside of historical realms, and alongside a host of other tweaks and refinements, makes Total War: Warhammer II a strategic success that any fan of the series should be able to get behind.
Second installment in Total War Warhammer, has taken the series into a right direction with more focused narrative campaign and improvements all over the aspects of gameplay. It is an evolution of the first game, which still suffers from some problems. For instance, complexity of user interface and AI behavior in battles. However, it is considered as a true Total War game that would be enjoyable for a time being.

Being, in fact, a simple expansion, Total War: Warhammer II also acts great as a standalone game with its four new different races and beautiful lands, while constant race for getting the Vortex keeps you up all the time.

If you've played any Total War, it's similar, but with a primary focus on magic and heroes. If you have experience with the Heroes series, you won't get lost, but expect much more complex battles. If you like the world of Warhammer, you'll find plenty of winks and its translation into a more intricate strategy. If you have no idea what Warhammer is, it doesn't matter - it's still a solid strategy game with RPG elements that is pulled forward primarily by the mechanics, and only secondarily by the story. However, if you don't have a penchant for fantasy, I'd rather recommend looking around the historical works in the Total War series. Furthermore, Total War Warhammer II can be played in co-op as a campaign or as standalone battles against live players to fully test your abilities and the capabilities of each faction.

Is it worth it? It is for me. Total Warhammer 2 is a complex game with deep mechanics, varied gameplay and I’ll never tire of watching my Carnosaurs thrash the filthy Skaven (Via viewing replays of course). It takes an investment of time to dig into the game but that investment pays off in spades when you know what you’re doing. It’s just a shame that you need to seek sources outside the game to truly grasp it.
We are facing a new path taken by The Creative Assembly: the detachment from the other chapters of Total War is increasingly evident, adding brio and innovation to games that left little room for storytelling. The footage is beautiful and contextualized, the longtime players of Warhammer Fantasy can not miss this piece of the saga. We're unlikely to see the whole story treated so well and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Total War: Warhammer 2 is still the best massive scale strategy. Creative Assembly haven't left anything up to chance and once again brought us a great mix of a turn-based strategy and real-time tactical fighting.

Creative Assembly did something with Total War: Warhammer II that is, in my experience, quite rare in the Warhammer franchise … It followed up an excellent title with an equally (and in many ways, superior) excellent title.
All in all though, Total War: Warhammer 2 is a solid continuation on the foundations set by it’s predecessor. I don’t feel it’s enough of a technical improvement to justify the numerical release, as many of the quality of life advances could, and perhaps should have been released as a patch for the original, but it is a solid improvement on the formula none-the-less.
Regardless, in the end, Total War: Warhammer II is a fantastic “Upgrade” to its predecessor and a great addition to the Total War series.
My complaints are fairly minor, especially when compared to the vast amount of fun I had with Warhammer: Total War 2.
