West of Loathing is a highly entertaining, sometimes bizarre and mostly a charming RPG.
I am content to recommend this title for what it truly is: a charming adventure with wonderful dialogue and story options. If you seek it for any other reason, you may find yourself holding a tumbleweed rather than a glorious chunk of gold.
The amount of humour, fun and character within West of Loathing is astounding. Repetition in the turn based battles is the only slight in an otherwise amazing game. DLC is on the way too, and I for one cannot wait for it.
The game provides an excellent mixture of humour and exploration that is very easy to get sucked into.
West of Loathing is one of those games that you go into not expecting much at all. My only previous experience of it was seeing it at EGX and I was watching someone else play. I thought it looked ok, but I didn't give it much thought after that. I went into this totally cold, expecting very little. That has taught me a very valuable lesson yet again to never judge a book by its cover. The game is rich with content, has an excellent and humorous story which will keep you entertained all the way through with great little brain teasers. The only slight let down is the battles, but it's not even that bigger deal as this has so much more to offer. Do yourself a favour and pick this one up because it's one of the best little games on Switch and one I will not hesitate in recommending.
West of Loathing is a wonderfully charming adventure where the stick figures that populate the towns have more character than most of the life-like models in big-budget productions. You’ll spend more time reading than fighting, but when it’s this funny you won’t mind too much.
All eyes might be on Red Dead Redemption 2, but this year's best Wild West video game could well be West of Loathing. Saddle up and enjoy the ride.
West of Loathing is an absolute joy to play through from beginning to end. Don't let it's simple visuals fool you; this is one humorous gameplay experience you don't want to miss out on.
West of Loathing is a game you pick up for ten minutes and put down four hours later because you were lost in finding the right item or avenging the deaths of a family. Aside from a few tiny flaws here and these, this is a must own game for everyone and one that begs to be played over and again.
Thanks to its superb writing and zany cast of characters, West of Loathing is a must-play turn-based RPG for the Switch. What it lacks in graphical special effects, it totally makes up for in the humor department. It is yet another great addition to your Switch library!
West of Loathing is a game that no lover of RPGs rich in dialogue and humor should miss. You just have to forgive the combat system that can sin from being very simple and with little depth.

I have to say, West of Loathing is one the most fun and unique games I’ve played in a long time. The combat is fun, the writing is hilarious, and the art style and animation are fantastic. I’ve rarely seen a game where you can tell there was thought behind each design decision and it all blended together perfectly. This one will set you back about about $11 on the eShop and it took me around eight hours to complete it, but you can get a lot more out of this. There were tons of quests I could’ve done and every choice you make can have an effect on the ending you receive. I feel this is a must own title for Switch owners. It’s one of a kind, and this is the best kind there is!
Don’t let its simple stick figure look fool you, this is an odd, funny, and extremely worthwhile gem of an adventure worth your time
West of Loathing is a hilariously clever and original RPG game that will give you the best darn tootin' adventure this feller's every seen.
West of Loathing makes remarkable use of the space it inhabits. It just doesn't make navigating that space very fun at times. There is enough to this adventure to make it is easily recommendable to fans of CYOA style games, and those who enjoy tougher RPGs all around. For those who don't fall into those categories, there's nothing here that will likely entice you to stick around very long.
I'm actually having more fun playing this ludicrous RPG parody drawn with stick people than I did with the bigger budget Wasteland 2.
While this is obviously not Red Dead Redemption or anything of the sort, West of Loathing proves to be truly entertaining for what it is.
From the charm that oozes out of the hand drawn simple animations to the writing that is absolutely on point from start to finish, West of Loathing really is something quite special.
Treating this game like a super-serious RPG is the wrong way to go about it, as that's where the holes start to emerge, whether it's the middling combat or the mildly annoying quest and item management troubles. This is a comedy, pure and simple, and thankfully it's one that's clever and funny in a way that makes up for any lesser gameplay segments. It's a great chaser between the ample supply of serious games out there, especially if you have Stupid Walking turned on.
I truly love West of Loathing. It's charming, silly, fun and, most surprisingly, offers genuinely engaging combat and questing.
