Doom for Nintendo Switch is a technical feat. Come for the shooting, stay for the heavy metal.

DOOM on Nintendo Switch is a remarkable achievement. It runs much better than I expected it to and looks fairly decent in handheld mode. The game is still incredibly fun 18 months on and is perfectly suited to the handheld device. It's a great testimony to AAA games on Nintendo Switch and proves that the console can not only handle hardcore games, but potentially even become the best place to play them.

This may not be the definitive way to play this instant classic, but Doom on the Switch manages to capture the violent and rampaging essence of the experience very well.

Not the best version of Doom, but it is the most portable.

In the end, Doom is a worthy successor to the original and although there was mixed reviews of Doom 3 way back in 2004, id Software should be praised on not only paying homage to the original but successfully rebooting the franchise on high-end consoles, the PC and now the Nintendo Switch.

Portable DOOM single-player and Arcade Mode alone make it worth it for any Switch owner.

Objectively, this is the worst version of Doom, but that doesn't really matter because it is the best version on the Nintendo Switch.

If the Switch is your main console, and you somehow missed out on id Software's fantastic throwback to a bygone era of First Person Shooters, then I wholeheartedly recommend DOOM on the Switch.

It's clear, beyond the obvious limitation with resolution and frame-rate, that DOOM for Switch has had to make some restrictions.

If you are looking for a game to blow up demons and add a solid FPS to your Nintendo library, look no further than Doom. It packs the entire campaign and much of the multiplayer onto a portable console, meaning that you don't need to stop fragging just because you need to leave the house. The game's eye candy has been reduced to match the console's processing power, as well as feels a bit awkward using the console's portable joy-cons rather than the pro controller. Even so, the game is worth a playthrough and hopefully a good sign of what is to come.

Blasting your way through hell on the go is still an experience we can’t quite get over. With FPS games largely being a bit rubbish on portable systems, playing DOOM in all its glory on the train or during a flight has been a bit of a revelation.

Even though this is the worst version of Doom available up to now, it's still a remarkable achievement for Nintendo's hybrid console and a good version of one of the best shooters of 2016.

It's not in all its glory, but it's still many steps ahead of other console ports, and a great addition to the Nintendo line-up ahead of the crucial holiday period.

Bethesda’s early commitment to Nintendo’s latest console must be commended and this excellent port is a great way to kick off their promised stream of Switch releases. If you missed out on the demon-slaying action back in 2016, it’s the perfect time to hop into the Doom Marine’s shoes. Whether it’s time for a taunt or a brutish kill, Doom’s got you covered on Switch.

DOOM for the Nintendo Switch is a solid FPS that doesn't compromise the core gameplay during the transition. Both the campaign and online multiplayer are a blast to play, however, the absence of Snap Map doesn't go unnoticed. The game's performance is generally solid, even if it does have the occasional frame rate dip and texture issues.

The arrival of DOOM on Nintendo Switch is an achievement that must be celebrated by playing. Panic Button has done a wonderful work with the id Tech 6 engine that captures, most of the time, the complete and ultra-violent experience of one of the best FPS in recent time.

Yes, one can lament lower frame rates and resolutions but that doesn't change the fact that Doom for Switch looks good, plays great, and can be taken with you wherever you go.

Doom on the Switch is impressive. It's pretty much the same game it was over a year ago, and that is not a bad sign. It obviously isn't perfect and won't be everyone's cup of tea. Some may be bothered by the technical hiccups, while others will rejoice in the newly awakened third-party support that has brought them one of the better FPS experiences in the past two years.
