It's a welcome, unexpected addition to an already substantial experience, and represents a refreshing change of scenery.

The Surge: A Walk in the Park is an enjoyable venture off the beaten path. While it takes place during the main storyline, it has just enough plot and substance to be enjoyable. With new weapons and armor to be had, there's something here for everyone. However, for those who are heavily invested in the game, there might not be enough to warrant the adventure.

While A Walk in the Park adds more gameplay and some challenging bosses, it's feels more like a proof of concept.

The Surge: A Walk in the Park is an over-the-top, hilarious expansion to a great game that sadly ends far too quickly .

Wickedly violent and fun combat, detailed environments, and hordes of enemies to kill. It doesn't add anything new but the combination of fun and horror sets a chilling mood, making A Walk in the Park a great reason to get back into The Surge.

Overall, "A Walk in the Park" is easy to recommend — if you liked The Surge and you want more of it, that's what you'll get here and you're in for a great time at the theme park. If you couldn't get over the issues in The Surge then there's nothing here that's going to change your mind.

The Surge: A Walk in the Park is a more than worthy expansion to the game, offering new challenges as well as new tools to deal with them. Story telling may not be stellar, and no new gaqmeplay mechanics have been included, but don't let these issues stop you from taking this lethal walk through CREO World: it's well worth it.

Despite not adding anything new to the gameplay of The Surge or providing many rewards to returning players, A Walk in the Park provides more of the wickedly fun combat and detailed environments that we saw in the main campaign. The juxtaposition of the family-friendly funtime setting and technological horror is at times goofy and genuinely chilling, and even with a fairly basic set of objectives, exploring the ruined park was a fun way to spend a few hours back in this world.

A Walk in the Park is indispensable for those who have played the base game. It feels in no way out of place, is an interesting locale to explore, and has plenty of new enemies to overcome. It's just a shame there's barely anything there for players who have completed the game in terms of challenge.

Things get ridiculously tough towards the end and the game starts to forget about the fun enemies, but with this expansion Deck13 have finally made a Dark Souls alternative people might want to play. If you own The Surge, you need to take A Walk In The Park.

In the end, The Surge: A Walk in the Park feels like it wants to correct the sins of the past, resulting in returning players getting an underwhelming experience. With lackluster armor, easy to defeat foes, a forgettable story and a setting that could've been far more exciting, we're not left with much. Sure, fans will likely enjoy it and it offers a lot for newcomers, even a map for one of the most dreaded sections of the game, it just doesn't do enough to stand out.

Bringing some levity to the aggravation of constantly dying in a Souls-like, A Walk In The Park offers an amusement park filled with bloody delights!

A Walk in the Park is a slightly hesitant but undeniably enjoyable step in a direction the burgeoning genre has yet to explore, and one that hopefully sends a message that games like this don’t need to be crushingly dark (tonally and visually) to be enjoyable.

If you're a fan of The Surge and you're fine with the idea of A Walk in the Park only taking up a few hours of your time, I'd say jump into it. It may be quite short but it's enjoyable every step of the way, and there's plenty of goodies to carry through to the rest of the game.

A Walk in the Park is the expansion for The Surge that takes the player to explore CREO World, an amusement park inside CREO's facilities. Just like in the main game, something went wrong and the new region is destroyed, with its employees acting hostile - including the park's mascots. Although it does not include any structural change or new mechanics, there is a fair amount of new enemies and a good deal of weapons, armor and implants that make the expansion worthwhile.

A Walk in the Park is an enjoyable expansion that is especially aimed at those fans who have already completed the base game. It doesn't really alter the experience or add something new to the core gameplay mechanics, but as an expansion, it offers some great gameplay moments in a completely new location.

The only major disappointment with this add-on is the lack of anything new aside from the enemies and environment.

The Surge: A Walk in the Park shows the team at Deck 13 are getting better and better with everything they develop, and the expansion as well as the base game itself remains compelling enough if you're a fan of the Souls-like. Whatever the team does next, I'm sure they'll bring something even more absorbing than The Surge.
