Metal Gear survive uses the beautiful and huge world of MGS 5 in a hardcore survival game and i must say that it is really a good survival game because of huge amount of content and potential that the MGS 5 world has. Maybe MGS fans isn't happy because of using name of these epic series on a completely separate game, but i must say that you don't play "the name of a game", you play the game itself! And in this case, Metal Gear survive is a really valuable survival game that worth to try. Of course the game has some big problems in gameplay, but in the end it is a very entertaining hardcore survival game that you shoud try.

Metal Gear Survive rings hollow, a vapid facsimile of a once-great franchise undone by Konami's fixation with the almighty dollar.

All in all, it's this hodgepodge mix of ideas that makes Metal Gear Survive a unique entry in the franchise, and perhaps its most divisive entry yet.

For all the fervent hatred of Konami that forms the current gaming-hate-bandwagon of choice, based on its own merits, Metal Gear Survive isn't a terrible game. It's not a great one for sure, and certainly not near the pedigree we expect from a Metal Gear product, but it's a serviceable enough survival game that benefits greatly from layering in a few of The Phantom Pain's systems. It won't scratch that same itch of sneaky badassery that has made Snake a household name, and it's almost certainly not worth the full $40 / £35 asking price, but there's definitely fun to be had here even if it doesn't come close to troubling the series' heights.

An uncanny addition to the Metal Gear franchise, Metal Gear Survive survives as a survival game but doesn't deliver as a Metal Gear game.

Metal Gear Survive feels like a prototype, an idea on paper that was quickly turned into a game and strapped to a retail rocket without proper consideration of what the Metal Gear name means to people. Konami has every right to use the IP and FOX Engine tool of course, and frankly there's no reason not to. Kojima didn't make all the Metal Gear games by himself. But this feels like the team dumped a bunch of menu-based systems on top of the mechanics, without figuring out why and how they should all work together. It is like they were looking to other games in the genre for ideas, then adding extra complexity for the sake of standing out a bit. It's part dull, part frustrating, and part utterly confusing. In short, Metal Gear Survive is just another middling survival game, with a name-drop that doesn't do it any favors.

Metal Gear Survive is a decent survival game, and it's really fun to play with your friends. But it's not fun enough to make me completely satisfied, especially compared with Hideo Kojima's Phantom Pain.

Metal Gear Survive manages to provide some fun gameplay, despite having plenty of issues with its story and survival mechanics

Survive does many things right and wrong but it doesn't deserve to be called a "Metal Gear" game.

For those willing to bear the brunt of its inexcusably poor opening and subsequent first few hours — and can even find it in themselves to excuse the nagging stats requiring a near-constant influx of food and water — Metal Gear Survive does deliver a few good ideas along the way buried beneath its mediocre world and often grind-focused, loot-based item-gathering.

Metal Gear Survive is a good survival and crafting game, but fun to play only in the first hours. Konami takes a chance with his idea, but fails due a plenty of monotone moments.

Metal Gear Survive is the most expensive survival game on the market right now, even at a budget price as far as AAA games go. This, mixed with the fact that almost all the game is made of reused assets, makes the number of microtransactions on offer frankly disgusting, even if none are required to complete the game. Asking players to pay $10 to make a second character is the most offensive money grabbing crap I've ever seen in a video game in the history of the medium.

Baffling AI behaviour, dull environments and a stupid story mean that even as a standalone survival game, Metal Gear Survive fails on too many levels. There are far better games that deserve your money. For example, if you want a complete survival experience, then ARK: Survival Evolve or 7 days to Die are better options on the PS4.

While it's a slow build and even by the end of the game some elements still annoyed me, I honestly had more fun with Metal Gear Survive than I would have ever expected and I'd like to see the game's formulas built upon.

It feels like Konami were always planning to release a zombie survival game, and used Kojima’s departure to slap the Metal Gear logo and assets on it to save time. If this is the case, then the decision does neither the game nor the Metal Gear franchise any favours. Metal Gear Survive is not a great Metal Gear game, but could have been a good original game by itself.

A Metal Gear game in name only, Survive is a decent – though often frustrating - survival game with a few unique tricks up its sleeve. While the Metal Gear name brings with it a certain weight of expectation, as long as you don't go in expecting Metal Gear Solid 6, you'll be fine.

Metal Gear Survive had the potential to grow into something unique but now it's just an uninspired mish-mash of poorly balanced systems that translates to an experience that feels like a chore. The story is frustrating, the only aspects that are great are the ones carried over from Metal Gear Solid 5 and the overall gameplay loop is monotonous. Metal Gear Survive ironically won't survive the test of time, though in several years' time you'll probably not be able to play it anyway.

Metal Gear Survive had some potential, but there is nothing exciting here, maybe except the atmosphere. And with those offensive microtransactions it probably will not survive.

A bizarre mix of gameplay styles utilising Metal Gear V assets, none of which are particularly interesting, providing little incentive to work your way through the long campaign to the end game co-op.
