If you can endure the game’s more tedious aspects and embrace the bad with the good, Detroit’s branching endings will undoubtedly compel you to dive into countless chapter replays and spark heated conversations for years to come.

If you can get past the heavy-handedness with which Detroit: Become Human approaches some of its story, you'll find that it is possibly Quantic Dream's best effort yet.

Detroit: Become Human is a cinematic masterpiece, and easily the best work to date from developer Quantic Dreams. It's gorgeous, sounds beautiful, and the choices made here are impactful and introspective. Better still, the exposed underpinnings encourage repeat playthroughs just to see where all of the rabbit holes go. Come for the storyline, stay for the thought provoking look at a potential near future for mankind, and where AI might fit within it.

Learning the story of Kara, Connor and Markus in Detroit: Become Human was a pleasant and engaging affair. I really grew fond of the heroes and I pondered over every decision. Quantic Dream's new game is a really good interactive movie, and the degree of non-linearity is amazing. It's a pity that the story itself is totally bland, obvious and downright disappointing; the characters are flat and cliché, and the game doesn't deliver any meaningful message – it's almost baffling how the authors could have missed such an opportunity to make a statement.

Detroit is simply unlike anything else available. For that reason alone it deserves to be played, but when allied with the chance to create your own story that will not be the same for many others and the stunning tech on show, what more do you need?

Detroit: Become Human is evidence that breathtaking production isn't effective camouflage for anemic dialogue and abysmal writing. By co-opting famous racial prejudices and projecting all of them onto society's assimilation of androids, Detroit spoils its power to create convincing drama.  The sense of agency and control over its story remains exciting, but archetypal plotting and cosmetic platitudes leave Detroit without much to say about anything.

Detroit Become Human is a beautiful jig-saw puzzle yet deformed puzzle. The individual parts look pretty, but once you try and piece it together, it all falls apart.

Detroit: Become Human has a thrilling story experience, and figuring out what choices make the plot that's right for you is most of the fun. However, some annoying control mechanics crossed with awkward camera functionality, and performance issues stop Detroit: Become Human from reaching greatness.

Detroit: Become Human is without a shadow of a doubt, David Cage's best work. After almost a handful of failings, Detroit: Become Human showcases what David Cage is capable of as both a writer and a director. He isn't shy about tackling taboo topics, regardless of the backlash, and it pays off here in what is a stunning story of overcoming oppression.

David Cage's best title with memorable characters and real consequences of our decisions.

Cage's ambitions might eventually overreach into bad taste, but even then Detroit still pulls off what every previous Cage game has failed to do. It tells a coherent, occasionally thought-provoking story that unites the interaction of videogames with the language of film.

Detroit: Become Human on PC has a strong base, but some lazy choices on the settings and the framerate bouncing keep it at a modest evaluation.

Almost two years after its PlayStation 4 debut, developer Quantic Dream has brought Detroit: Become Human to the PC via the Epic Games Store. With beautiful graphics and a complex branching story line, be prepared to make tough choices as you live the life of three androids as they shape the events of the days prior to the android uprising.

In the end, even though I experienced some technical issues due to my PC's CPU, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Detroit: Become Human, and after only little fiddling in the settings, I managed to find an acceptable compromise for great gaming sessions. Thanks to the brilliant presentation on all fronts and enthralling narrative, I stopped noticing the few hiccups here and there and lost myself in a not-so-futuristic tale of very personal stakes and development.

Detroit: Become Human is the peak of Quantic Dream. It's a culmination of everything the studio has learned by putting an authentic, intimate story that builds gradually into a story of grand proportions while combining fun and engaging gameplay that helps pad out the story.

Detroit Become Human is one of the great games of 2018. If you are still on the fence about it, then check out the free Demo with the first chapter. This way you can tell if it is your thing or not. After you have finished playing this game and maybe another shot, you'll be missing this world dearly. At this time there has been no word on if there will be any DLC planned for Detroit Become Human which is a shame. I know I for one would love to see Conner in action a bit more and it would include more barricaded suspects, people in crisis missions and other hostage situations. That would be a cool DLC. Nonetheless, Detroit Become Human ticks all the right boxes when it comes to one of the great games of 2018.
