Die for Valhalla is a decent game and the possession mechanic is interesting. Other than that though, it doesn’t really stand out. There are quite a few similar side-scrolling beat ‘em ups and this is a fine example of one. If you loved similar games and want something else along the same lines, it’s worth grabbing. If you only play the occasional one, then there are better examples out there.

Die for Valhalla! is a fun beat ‘em up with a bit of strategy thrown in and some RPG elements that make it a fun game to play at home or on the go on Nintendo Switch. The two available modes make it possible for players of all skill levels to take the game for a spin, unlocking new clans as you go and finding the right Viking to help you defeat the onslaught of enemies that you will face. Large and dangerous bosses here and there will force you to be more careful as you enlist the aid of NPC Vikings or you can have up to three friends join you locally for some four-player mayhem.

Die for Valhalla is one of the good and fun choice to play in this generation, specially if you are looking for an entertaining co-op experience. Gameplay has a good amount of various mechanics and elements that made it so much fun and. Despite some issues that i have seen in the game, in the end Die for Valhalla is a good game to recommend, specially in co-op.

Die for Valhalla is a game that is not too expensive, not too difficult to finish, and gives the player a few hours of great fun. I dare to say it's better that both Jotun and The Banner Saga!

Die for Valhalla! is a game that is easy to recommend on PlayStation 4. The way the game looks and feels is great, the gameplay mechanics are fun and the difficulty options allow players new to the genre or those with some considerable experience to dive into a great adventure. Which class will you select for your journey?

Die for Valhalla! features a welcome intersection of a beat'em up with an RPG and it does a pretty decent job at that, thanks to its wide amount of content which boosts the game's lifespan and challenge levels. Nevertheless, Die for Valhalla! can't avoid becoming repetitive too soon, not because it does something wrong but rather because it lacks a certain flair to push it over the edge.

A solid, well-crafted platform for some good old fashion co-op hack and slash fun.

Die for Valhalla! is a perfectly serviceable side-scrolling beat-'em-up that gets most of the basics right, but struggles in execution in many areas. That said, it knows deep down that it's a total product of its genre, and that simplicity is something that appeals to me in an era of bloated AAA titles that either try to do too much, or try to squeeze too many samey elements into the game just to pad it out.

Die For Valhalla's unique gameplay elements accompanied by some glorious 2D artwork help make this one more palatable in the long run than most. The ability to level up and acquire new skills gives you reason to keep playing, as seeing your Valkyrie – and the warriors she possesses – get stronger is great reward.

If you’ve ever felt the need or desire to possess a few dead Vikings and wreak havoc on a load of enemies with a friend, Die for Valhalla fits nicely. The co-op plays well and there are a lot of things going on during most battles. Other than the framerate hit and maybe losing track of where your player is on the screen, it’s a fun and satisfying hack and slash that can be played for 10 minutes or even a few hours at a time. Today is a good day to Die for Valhalla!

All in all I enjoyed playing Die for Valhalla for its relative simplicity that really does bring me back to the classic arcade quarter-pumping experience. Paired with some friends it can be a blast to simply maul your way through enemies and then fight for the glory that spews onto the screen at the end of each level. As long as you keep your expectations in check, and don't count on it to deliver a very deep experience, it can be some good fun for at least a handful of hours of hacking up bad guys and bosses.

All of the elements for a good beat 'em up are definitely there, Die for Valhalla! just does not use them properly. The combat is made to be repetitive and the level design is just lazy at times.

Die for Valhalla! can be appreciated either as a surprisingly complex action RPG or just a fantastic casual beat em' up. Whichever way you see it, Valhalla is a welcome addition to the Switch's growing RPG library.

Die For Valhalla! is a successful mix of several genres that mainly presents itself as a lengthy side-scrolling beat-'em-up and just like the majority of such games is best enjoyed with friends along the way. There is still a lot to chew for the lonely solo player out there, so if you into the genre and Norse mythology, do consider giving this one a possession. Odin would approve and so do we.
