Since it’s been a while since the original title made its debut, chances are you are like Neku and don’t remember everything at this stage. If that’s the case, the Switch version can provide you with another round of entertainment that can be played on the go and in the comfort of your own home. For newcomers, picking up The World Ends with You: Final Remix should be a no-brainer as it’s definitely the definitive version of the Nintendo DS gem.

Control issues aside, this is still an amazing and creative game in its presentation, world and story, and with the epilogue and enhanced graphics and music it is recommended even for those who played the original release.

The World Ends With You still holds up well today despite releasing years ago. Some of its appeal is lost in the transition to a different platform, but the story and combat system is still enjoyable. The soundtrack with the choice of a remixed option gives the fans an opportunity to experience it all over again. New types of gameplay options including co-op support and an original story scenario only adds further appeal to this otherwise fantastic action RPG.

TWEWY -Final Remix- does a stellar job with updating the DS originals visual and aural design. Some control issues and changes to combat mechanics to fit the Nintendo Switch are unfortunate but the story and game systems are still excellent and will still have you eagerly trying to survive the Reaper's Game.

Well done, Square Enix, another lazy mobile port to the big platform. But this isn't the main problem – Switch version also suffers from dumb and unresponsive motion and touchscreen control schemes. They blatantly ruin all the fun this game can provide. The worst version of TWEWY to date.

There's reason for existing fans to play the game again, because it has an all-new chapter to work through, and there's certainly a reason for people who haven't previously played it to give it a go, because to this day, nothing else has quite managed to offer what The World Ends With You offers.

A mediocre remaster of a great game, it is critically important to recognise that Final Remix is in no way whatsoever the definitive release of The World Ends with You. Presentation wise, the Switch remaster both looks and sounds great, improving upon the original mobile remaster wherever it can, but the gameplay is severely neutered when compared to the original Nintendo DS release. Combat will never be as smooth with the Joy-Con setup as it is with touch controls, and the modifications made to the partner system in order to make gameplay work on one single screen remove a great deal of the original battle system's charm. Final Remix is a good game as it is still, at its core, The World Ends with You, but it is a deeply flawed, deeply disappointing reimagining of the DS classic.

On paper, The World Ends With You would have been perfect for a Switch adaptation, and it still could be. There hasn't been any indication of post-launch updates to fix the controls, but in a less cynical view we can be glad they're not selling Another 7 Days as a separate expansion. But Final Remix is something rare: the Switch port of a classic game that would have been better served happening on 3DS if they wanted to replicate the original experience.

The World Ends with You certainly stands out from its RPG peers by offering a unique art style and a battle system that makes great use of the Switch's control methods.

The World Ends With You: Final Remix is a great port for the most part and allows a brand new audience the chance to experience this quirky, super stylish JRPG if they didn’t get the chance 11 years ago. It does have some prominent control issues that will take some getting used to if playing in docked mode but the handheld option provides what I consider to be the definitive The World Ends With You experience.

The World Ends With You: Final Remix makes for one of the most unique Switch experiences by its very nature. Best played in handheld with touch inputs, it shows the versatility of the system and brings back a fan favorite franchise with a fresh layer of HD paint.

Pulsating beats, cool sayings, fashion as armor and the Joy-Con as pointer: The World Ends With You works very well on the Nintendo Switch despite the lack of precision in battle and will continue to impress in 2018 with its gripping story and incomparable style - whether you experience the adventure in TV or handheld mode.

The World Ends With You is a brilliant action RPG that is worth your time if you own a Switch. Despite the inherant flaws that come with its control scheme, it tells a compelling story with complex and well-developed characters that keep you engaged for hours on end. It’s a unique experience that deserves the praise it receives from so many, and it’s made even better through the capabilities of the Switch. If you’re a fan of the genre and can look past its minor shortcomings, I can’t recommend this title enough.

Final Remix is a fun game which has great depth in the fights and primarily how you fight in different areas. The option for the use of the touch-screen or a single Joy-Con. Add amazing audio-visual elements and the Final Remix is the perfect Final edition of the game.
