Rules is bookended by some heartrate-spiking sequences, but the majority is spent relatively comfortably. Music has crescendos and decrescendos because they're dynamic. Loud has more impact when everything was soft just moments ago. Rules is a decrescendo. It's quiet and it's retrained. But all indications are that Life is Strange 2 won't stay quiet much longer.

Despite its two strong protagonists and their engaging plight, lackluster supporting characters and a mundane setting make this episode less compelling than the last

A considerably less daring second episode, when compared to the first, that highlights the problems of episodic content more than it does the qualities of Life Is Strange 2.

The second episode of Life is Strange 2 delivers on the return of Chris, a beautiful soundtrack and some great art. It's a shame the facial expressions suffer due to the art style though. It's a great nostalgic trip nonetheless.

Rules continues the compelling journey of the Diaz brothers, further expanding on the supernatural elements teased during the first episode's conclusion with less forcefully controversial and predictable writing. Unfortunately, the episode is hindered by some substantial technical issues.

The second chapter in Sean and Daniel's story asks the hard questions, like can grandmas really be trusted?

The second episode of Life is Strange 2 slows down a little bit. There is more focus on the characters, and finally the appearence of Captain Spirit.

A slump in a promising series, Episode 2 still contains emotional highs and thoughtful choices.

An episode with a great writing but our choices lacks weight, making this a forgetable episode, despite it has some great moments on its limited lenght.

Nonetheless, “Rules” can be called a mostly successful entry in the Life is Strange catalog. The plot uses the newly introduced characters very well, each of them fulfilling an important role in Sean and Daniel’s adventure. No moment feels wasted, with every action leading to major changes in the story. Above all, after I finished the episode, I knew I immediately wanted more from Dontnod. It’s just a shame that it could take another four months.

While not quite as good as the introductory episode, Rules still stands strong. Held back by a decision that some might not even come across, it just goes to show how many paths one can take.

Rules episode develops the brother’s relationship as much as it can, and gives the players so much freedom when it comes to choices. Life is Strange 2 is so good in the spirit that even though the Rules episode is lacking a little pace in storytelling, it can still be considered a great episode that lays a solid ground for the future.

Despite some questionable moments in the second episode, Life Is Strange 2 is off to an excellent start. Daniel and Sean's journey is a tough, racially-heated story that will draw you in, even as it breaks your heart.

Life is Strange 2 continues its streak of excellence with Roads, an episode that advances the story of Sean and Daniel Diaz with a series of brave, unpredictable events. While it fumbles when touching upon heavier political themes, the emotion at the core of this story succeeds, and is ultimately what matters the most.

Episode 2 might be a slower entry in the episodic series, but it gave me enough meaningful content and satisfying gameplay to enjoy playing throughout.

Despite a lack of clear narrative direction, LiS 2 Episode 2 nonetheless brings back the quality storytelling of Season 1, complete with new faces, tough decisions, and gut wrenching consequences that will impact the rest of the season.

Life is Strange 2 started strong, with the first episode introducing the new protagonists and having the player decide on profound choices after a tragic event. Life is Strange 2: Episode 2 Rules continues that momentum but not without inconsistent bumps in the energy. There are some technical issues but fans of the first episode will find a lot more to enjoy here. The brothers will still have to endure many troublesome decisions that can lead to one of many endings.
