If you’re looking for an accurate simulation of Supercross, this is going to satisfy. Even though this is a sequel, it feels like a foundation that can be built upon in future games, and I hope that Milestone expands the feature set the next time out

“Go with the flow” could be the motto of Monster Energy Supercross – The Official Videogame 2, a superb simulation of the AMA Supercross Championships (250SX and 450SX). Great race physics and graphics, lots of official contents and customizations, but unpolished general presentation and hideous loading times, just like in the previous chapter.

Monster Energy Supercross 2 is a fast-paced dirt bike racing game that provides a tough yet enjoyable challenge. The controls take some getting used to, but after you get time in with the game, you'll be racing like a pro. The graphics and soundtrack keep the blood pumping and the eyes pleased.

Monster Energy Supercross: The Official Videogame 2 is pure spectacle, a rhythm game disguised as a racing videogame. The only flaw is a career really not that exciting with a poor sense of progression.

Fans of the sport will love the authenticity and vast tweaking options onboard, while the rest of us can enjoy a decent two wheeled off-road racer which looks the part. It's just a shame about the tedious loading times.

If you’re more of a casual racing fan looking for something different, it might scratch that itch, especially if you prefer more simulation-style racers over arcade racers.

Monster Energy Supercross 2 is a good sequel. It greatly enhances the career mode and gives it a lot more dynamism. Driving sensations are also on a good path with better feelings and good technicality, despite an arcade side revealed by some collisions issues. Pretty, fun, and easy to access despite greater depth, Milestone's production has been able to capitalize positively on bases that had good potential. It still has to tweak his multiplayer mode to keep the distance. See you in 2020 for a must-have ?

Monster Energy Supercross - The Official Videogame 2 is a vast improvement in many ways upon the first game. The inclusion of a track editor, the reinstatement of online multiplayer and the sheer level of authenticity on offer will impress both longtime supercross fans and casuals looking to spray mud on two wheels. Visually, it's a noticeable step up and while it does occasionally chug, the frame rate holds fast most of the time. It's just a shame those monstrously long loading times and a needlessly grindy unlock system takes away some of its shine.

In the end, Monster Energy Supercross 2 will intrigue veterans of the series with its deeper career mode, rhythm gameplay, and authentic AMA Motocross Championship presentation. Meanwhile, casual racing fans can hop in and have a lot of fun with the easy to learn controls and compound mode, however bugs and long load times will frustrate everyone.

That it dares to be the price of a AAA title is insulting enough, but to be so brazen as to drag down an honest attempt at Supercross simulation means that this just isn't worth even a minute of your time.

Staying true to the sport, Monster Energy Supercross 2 provides thrilling racing. However, it's a standard package with little that stands out beyond the riding itself.

Just like its predecessor, Monster Energy Supercross 2 is a powerful concentrate of adrenaline that will not fail to amuse all the fans of the supercross discipline. There's a lot of customization e some new addition, like the new Compound mode, but we also found some technichal imperfections and a disappointing Career mode.

Monster Energy Supercross 2 recreates the spot admirably and has enough depth to the gameplay to satisfy even the more hardcore fans, but it's held back by bugs, inconsistent production values, and barebones modes that lack variety.

While there are some inconsistencies in MESX 2, Milestone has made improvements in almost every area of the title. The gameplay outshines everything else here, and that is never a bad thing. Milestone is one of the most consistent developers in the industry, and the improvements made to MESX 2 do nothing but help solidify that belief in my mind. MESX 2 is a title that delivers both as a single and multiplayer experience, and is deep enough to warrant a long, long run in your rotation. Whether you are new to the series or a veteran of Milestone offerings, you would be doing yourself a disservice by not adding MESX 2 to your library.

Monster Energy Supercross 2 is quite possibly the best Supercross game that's out right now. The stellar, true to feel motorcycle racing, and hard charging soundtrack keeps the adrenaline high. Some problems existed with sound anomalies and seemingly inconsistent landing dynamics, but the solid game play and career mode will keep players coming back. Multiplayer modes are very simplistic, but custom games and creating your own track will add additional replay ability for major Supercross fans.

Monster Energy Supercross 2 is a mostly fluid and enjoyable two-wheeler experience, which hasn't been reinvented, but has been polished just enough to be a decent follow-up. The standard cynicism of incessant iterative cycles still applies here, because if Milestone gave themselves two years for this follow-up, it would be drastically better, rather than the usual half-step. However, at least the studio's commitment to the Unreal Engine 4, and their policy of providing an accessible driving experiences for all skill-levels, ensures Monster Energy Supercross 2 is still fun and engrossing for fans of Supercross, as well as those of the genre at large. Improvements to air-control reduces some occasional handling frustration, but doesn't erase it. Likewise, whilst throttle and front/rear brake application appears to me a little more tactile, the general handling and physics still leave a little to be desired. Good acrobatic fun, but with ample room for improvement.
