Modern Warfare makes you love the franchise all over again. With a great campaign and an excellent multiplayer to boot this is the most fun you'll have with a shooter all year. It's a shame the Spec Ops mode doesn't live up to the hype.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has the best campaign that I have played since the original Modern Warfare.
Modern Warfare is a reimagining of arguably the franchise's best games. And I hope that it is the first step in a new direction for the series in terms of quality. The graphics and sound are the best in the entire series. The single-player campaign is exhilarating, exhausting, and moving in some instances. The multiplayer and Spec Ops are a little weak at launch, but will no doubt be bolstered with more fan feedback and continued support by the development team. Modern Warfare is a game for a modern generation, and I can't wait to see where it goes in the future.
Countless seemingly minor issues build up to take away from what is, at its core, the best and most tactical Call of Duty multiplayer in years.
Call of Duty is back and is ready to recover the shooter king's scepter. Modern Warfare is the exaltation of the essence of this series, ready to counter the domination of the battle royale. The multiplayer offers multiple modes, each in its own interesting way. The campaign is among the most exciting that the series has ever offered us.

The often dark campaign adds variety that introduces Call of Duty’s potential future and puts it up there with the best the series has ever seen; the multiplayer is as engrossing as ever, even though the poor map design causes some issues; and the Spec-Ops co-op is best avoided if you don’t have a competent and organized squad to play through with.
Modern Warfare truly is an awesome attempt at revitalizing the Call of Duty franchise, especially just ahead of the next console generation. The game is a solid foundation for the future of the franchise, and if you've been burnt out on the franchise until now, it's worth it to hop back in for 2019. Just don't bother with Spec Ops and you'll have a great time with the rest of the game.
As pure entertainment, Modern Warfare is well-crafted, but as a game that professes to reveal the harsh realities of war it has surprisingly little to say. New multiplayer modes help keep things fresh, but Special Ops feels unnecessarily punishing.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a game you should buy just for the single-player alone. The multiplayer mechanics feel amazing like someone hit the refresh button for the franchise.
While it doesn’t break boundaries or define this generation, it is extremely refined to be the best version of itself. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare offers an engrossing campaign along with a multiplayer suite you can’t quit. It’s a game that’s heartfelt and genuine in its presentation. When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is operating at its peak, it's performing at a level the series or genre hasn't seen in over a decade. When Infinity Ward lets their many flaws show, it's painfully disheartening and only makes the potential for greatness feel that much richer. Perhaps this blinding contrast in their strengths and weaknesses will allow the team to come back and execute a sequel that will hit all of its marks without fail.
The campaign is nearly perfect, while the multiplayer and co-op sections are good yet hampered by annoying issues. 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot has a lot going for it. But it also has a few problematic elements that keep it from attaining the highest of honors.
