FIFA 20 has some refreshing new features. Unfortunately career mode and FUT didn't change that much. Volta Football is a fun new addition for you to play online or with friends though.

This year's release is once again characterized as overflowing with a multitude of modes and even if you do not care about Ultimate Team, you will definitely find something different to occupy yourself with.

VOLTA Football breathes some fresh life into the FIFA franchise, and while we have our suspicions that EA Sports was considering making it a standalone game, the fact it’s included and at the forefront of the menu screen means they decided it was better to include it in the overall FIFA 20 package and this only means good things for soccer fans.

Fifa 20 has all the parts to make for a competent, impressive footballing title this year. I played Pro Evo last month and was pleasantly surprised by the fluidity and realistic football on display in that title and wondered whether Fifa could compete on the pitch. In a way it does, at least for a little while. Matches are genuinely balanced with a good use of physics and improved animations, but various glitches and bugs hold this game back from ascending to the level it should hit. The career mode is almost entirely unplayable if you want a realistic experience and unless you're prepared to put some serious time into Ultimate Team, Volta's short story mode may not be enough to keep you coming back for more.

It's not enough to make it a great FIFA but its just enough so that everyone has a reason to come back to it.

FIFA 20 is, once again, an enjoyable football simulation, rejuvenated by the Volta mode and the improved controls. However, none of the changes are major and the core of the game is exactly the same as last year, which doesn't cut it in face of the competition.

Overall, FIFA 20 is a complete paradox; It's the game it should be and we were expecting to be, a game that still needs work when it comes to its core gameplay elements but at the same time is fun and entertaining. Adding Volta (FIFA Street) to the game is the best new feature FIFA 20 has to offer, but still the game suffers from many issues that are irritating for the players.

FIFA 20 has not dynamically had a host of changes to the gameplay, it’s actually very similar to what we got in 19. The huge difference, however, is the subtle changes that have been addressed to some major extent in 20.

FIFA 20 is bringing nothing new except Volta mode, which is really fun to play. Also FUT is still a P2W mess.

As with all FIFA titles, you can literally to continue to play FIFA 20 right up to the day “21” is released. With the addition of Volta is does give the game a fresh feel to the FIFA series. Is it enough to make you purchase this if you already are invested into the previous iteration…only time will tell. Overall its another solid football game and if you are a fan of the games, then no doubt this is already on your to-buy list. FIFA 20 receives the Thumb Culture Gold Award

FIFA 20 remains the top choice for quick, arcade fun, especially with Volta, but it fails in simulating a decent game of football on the pitch.

FIFA 20 seems to have gone to a full halt this season besides some small additions like volta or some new FUT features and also manages to add a lot of bugs and technical issues to the game despite missing changes in career mode and the other offline modes.

With unsurprisingly shady surprise mechanics and little to no significant movement on the pitch, FIFA 20 is a stopgap entry that only has Volta to boast about.

FIFA has never been better, at least on the pitch. Volta is fun in small doses, but those looking to play something other than Ultimate Team will be inevitably disappointed in the lack of variation in offline modes. Those who are in it for the thrill of opening a pack and getting a star player, or who simply love collecting cards and playing football matches with their new additions will find a lot to love, at least until next season when it all begins again.

FIFA 20 is the most stylish entry yet in this annual sports series, full of content and with a refreshing new campaign thanks to the return of the Street Soccer with VOLTA.

For all the scathing comments about FUT's predatory and disgusting practices, it cannot be denied that FIFA 20 is still a great game.

FIFA 20 is a better football simulation in overall compared to FIFA 19, but it’s still lagging behind its main competitor greatly. EA is losing the race to Konami, at least in this generation of consoles, where they used to dominate..

This year strategy for FIFA 20 defines what we can call a base game, unfortunately, everything else feels uninspired except for VOLTA. This mode that captures the street nature of the game, has been a pleasant surprise and tons of fun.F

If what they had in mind was a little better than mediocrity, than the game is a resounding success. I can only hope that the developers understand this type of incremental improvements are no longer enough, and that's it's time for a new kind of wheel.

New modes are always a welcome addition, but when the issues the game has are related to the most important aspect of the game, which is the gameplay, then the overall experience become more of a challenge to adapt and live with all these issues instead of being a fun competitive experience.
