A gorgeous platformer that builds on the original without ruining what made it so special. If you have Game Pass, there’s no reason not to play this.

Will of the Wisps is easily one of the best Metroidvanias ever, and I know that includes company like Super Metroid and Symphony of the Night.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is the natural evolution of the already excellent Ori and the Blind Forest, a masterpiece and a milestone in the metroidvania genre. It's a modern fairy tale with a lesson that should be accepted by everyone and applied without reservation in the everyday life. So be careful: playing Ori and the Will of the Wisps could make you a better person.

The title of Moon Studios is a true masterpiece in terms of visuals, sound and gameplay. A new standard for the Metroidvania and an exclusive hard to beat in this final stretch before the arrival of Xbox Series X.

As a whole, Ori and the Will of the Wisps is a beautiful, tragic, and complex story told on a stunning landscape and full of unique and loveable characters that will make you feel...so so many emotions. It's gameplay is incredibly satisfactory with challenging, creative puzzles, hidden rooms, and difficult-enough enemies. I would, and already have, recommend this game to anyone and everyone.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is an unreserved masterpiece, one of those sequels that does so much more than a regular sequel would: it offers a great visual and audio experience, really stimulating and incredibly sweet for the soul. Some technical flaws and some narrative recycle are little problems compared to these aspects, although they undoubtedly remain.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps catapults the series to new heights, and it is undeniably one of the finest Metroidvanias. The game is worth every penny, but I recommend starting with the original. Just as impressive a work of art as the original. Never tries to change what made the original successful; instead, it builds on its predecessor’s strengths while adding new, exciting elements.

With the need to go bigger, Ori and the Will of the Wisps loses some of the simplicity and innocence of the original game, but it steps up in turn with bite and refinement. It's the perfect companion to Ori and the Blind Forest, and is an early defining moment of the decade to come.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps improves upon its predecessor in almost every way, from its drastically improved combat system to its use of NPCs and side quests. Like Ori and the Blind Forest before it, Will of the Wisps is held back by intermittent technical hitches that can result in some frustrating moments, but it hardly keeps this incredible sequel from shining through.

Sure, the visuals are not quite as crisp (especially in docked mode), but you’d have to be really looking to notice, or really care. No, this huge little game is a must-play on the Switch, and it is in every way a worthy successor to an iconic game classic.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps improves upon the already great foundation set out by Ori and the Blind Forest. Its map is brimming with details and secrets to discover while new weapons and movement abilities create real depth to both combat and platforming. Ori's journey through Niwen is filled with emotional ups and downs that all feel earned and act as the perfect payoff for fans of the series. The injection of RPG elements like side quests and a hub area anchor you to this gorgeously realized world, and the fantastic conversion to Switch means that you won't be missing out on a thing. Ori and the Will of the Wisps is one of the best 2D platformers on Switch and a game that shouldn't be missed.

One of the main differences between Indie and AAA titles is that when it come to indie games, developers have more freedom to try new and ambitious ideas, as Ori and the Will of the Wisps did, and the result is not only a game that feels as good and fresh as its predecessor, but also improved in almost every aspect.

Ori and The Will of the Wisps is a fantastic game, probably one of the best of generation eight and certainly one of the best in 2020. A work whose technical flaws do not allow a masterpiece to appear, but we still cannot give up on its extraordinaryness.
