Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is a masterpiece in the world of 2D platformers and is easily the best one out there to date. I will go as far to say that Tropical Freeze is easily better than any of the New Super Mario Bros games, and that Donkey Kong is truly the King of the genre.
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is a delight to play. I recommend the game especially for couples. Katelyn and I have had a blast playing through the game for the second time on the Switch (we first played through on the Wii U four years ago). If you're looking for a well-polished, incredibly fun game with some couch co-op to boot, you need to pick up Tropical Freeze on the Switch. I can't think of a thing I would change about the game–it's simply a masterpiece.
Tropical Freeze is easily one of the best controlling games I've ever played. If you get stressed out by bottomless pits, disintegrating platforms and precision jumps, then get down on all fours and run away from this game as far as you can. If you welcome such challenges and love old-school platforming and goofy characters and bosses, however, then you'll go bananas over Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Funky Kong's addition to the Switch version is also a nice touch that makes things a bit more manageable.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is another excellent Wii U game that has found an even better home on the Nintendo Switch.
If you're one of the many gamers who missed out on the Wii U and want to delve into this enjoyable and charming platformer for the first time, it's definitely worth giving a go.
All due respect to Kirby Star Allies, but with Tropical Freeze now on Switch, it has easily taken the crown of best 2D platformer on the console.
A real blast to play, and a worthy addition to a beloved series. It has some minor flaws but the general experience is very positive. There's a ton to do and explore, and you get to listen to some great tunes while you do it. Definitely a solid addition to the Switch's library
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a fantastic 2D platformer that is challenging, filled with collectibles, and has a nice handful of characters to choose from. The game is beautiful, and the soundtrack is spectacular. The co-op element is wonderful, and the game is a ton of fun. Judging the Switch release without taking the Wii U version into account, this is definitely worth a purchase. However, here is the problem... Other than the higher resolution, the faster loading times, and Funky Kong, it's the same exact game that can be picked up for Wii U and a fraction of the price. Donkey Kong Country fans will not need convincing but for those who own the game on Wii U, the only reason to get this game is for the portability aspect of Switch. It was enough to warrant another purchase for me, but will it be for you? Other than that, this release doesn't add any incentive to double dip. For those who love challenging 2D platforming, this is definitely worth the purchase because of its extremely high fun factor and the challenging difficulty. Regardless of platform or year released, this entry is still a wonderful showcase of Retro Studios creativity and talent, a near masterpiece of exceptional gameplay and design.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is one of the best platformers that I’ve played in years
A well-designed and well-executed platformer which is mechanically sound; the problem comes when you realise you feel nothing and are playing for playing’s sake rather than because you’re enjoying it.
"Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze" is a successful port, which sees itself as a fine tuning of the original Wii U version. A successful presentation, dreamy pieces of music, a varied gameplay and funny boss fights round off the game. The tricky levels have a fair amount of difficulty, but thanks to Funky Kong they are also more accessible for beginners. Pros can continue to play in the classic style and explore the jungle with Donkey Kong and his family. Only a new theme world would have been desirable for connoisseurs of the title. All in all a fun porting, which appeals to a wide range of players thanks to different modes.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is one of the best 2D platformers of all time and the Switch version is argubaly the best version out there.
I don't think it's overstating it that players should definitely go bananas over the Switch version of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.
Thanks to a new character and the release on the popular system, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has finally become available to a wide audience. This is definitely the best version of the platformer, which will please users with good difficulty, but without annoying deaths, improved graphics, fast loaf times, interesting levels with lots of secrets and hardcore mode. Moreover, now you can play Tropical Freeze in portable mode, and that's a really cool addition.

Dongkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a solid platform game with creative level design, impressive background music and unique graphics performance. The NS version add a new character Funky Kong who can strongly reduce the difficulty, which makes this game more suitable for newcomers.

While the new features are a nice bonus, the core game is still here and still fantastic.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze makes its debut on the Switch, and it's still worth going bananas for.
