What more can we say about this upgraded version of A Plague Tale? It was a great experience when it came out in 2019, and it still is two years later. It is not made better in any major way, but it cannot be improved without fundamentally changing the game, which I am thankful it did not. If you have not played this game, you are doing yourself a disservice.

A Plague Tale – Innocence is the type of game that comes around rarely in the risk adverse gaming space. Bleak and beautiful it will leave an indelible mark on any gamer willing to enter its rat-infested world.

A Plague Tale: Innocence isn't the largest, most expansive game you'll ever play, nor does it accomplish new things in the areas where it does place its ambitions, but it's stronger for it. It's a focused story-driven experience completely free of bloat or unnecessary attempts at lengthening its runtime, and knows exactly what it wants to do. It delivers an emotional and effective tale, while also implementing simple mechanics in constantly engaging ways to make sure that it's not always all about the story.

A Plague Tale: Innocence is a wonderful new IP from an up-and-coming studio like Asobo. The game takes a rarely adapted period from our history and builds it into a wholly unique experience, with a character-driven adventure that will have you wanting to see how it all ends. I really can’t recommend the game enough if you are looking for something fresh and new.

A Plague Tale: Innocence is an example of storytelling and gameplay meshed together right. It's honest, brutal and incredibly hopeful all at the same time, and it does so without being naive. Ultimately, it teaches us that even at the point when everything seems lost, and the end approaches without respite, going on is easy so long as we have even just one person to call family.

The gripping mature storytelling, atmosphere, beautiful and horrifying environments, and the bond between Amicia and Hugo make A Plague Tale one of the best games of 2019 and simply should not be missed.

Inspired by one of the most unfortunate tragedies of humanity, A Plague Tale: Innocence will captivate, horrify and keep you on the edge of the seat in each of its chapters. A total surprise this year.

If you are looking for a whole new experience from what you already had in this generation, look no more, A Plague Tale: Innocence is what you want. A Plague Tale is not open world, does not offer multiplayer experience, and there is no big budget behind it. Instead it offers a linear stealth puzzle gameplay with a deep story and solid narrative, and that's exactly what we need every once in while. To seat behind our gaming device, disconnect from the whole world and just enjoy a great video game like the good old times.

A Plague Tale: Innocence is undoubtedly one of the best games of this year and perhaps one of the best story-focused titles. The game puts us well in the dark times of the middle ages and the pandemic of plague, and gives us the fate of a child and a teenager who are looking for survival. Despite the simplicity of riddles and gameplay, it is the fear of killing Amicia and Hugo and the narrative style of the game that makes it memorable

If you don't know the name Asobo Studio, you will after A Plague Tale. It clearly had a vision for what it wanted this game to be and despite the presumably lower budget than similar games, it rarely feels hamstrung by financial constraints. It's a game that looks, sounds, and plays great, and is all wrapped up in a story that unfolds irresistibly. For anyone who still longs for single-player games they can just sink their teeth into and enjoy, A Plague Tale should shoot to the top of your list. It's one of the year's best games.

A Plague Tale: Innocence has become a truly captivating adventure, the magnitude of which hardly anyone expected. Special praise goes to the gripping and emotional story, which is carried and supported by an almost flawless technical framework. Only the gameplay gets a bit monotonous in the long run, even if you notice that the developers really tried hard to add variety to the title. For players who focus more on the story experience than on the gameplay itself, this title is an absolute must buy! But everyone else should at least take a look and give it a chance - it's worth it!
