For newcomers, Persona 5 Royal is the most complete, most polished game. If you have a strict budget, then the consideration is whether the additional cost of this Royal edition is really worth it. That's really only the case if you expect to invest more than 100 hours in this game. Then, of course, the additional cost is also immediately relative.

JRPG fanatics need to add Persona 5 Royal to their collection. The character development and fearlessness to jump into dark and mature topics were appreciated. It took standard tropes and turned them all in their head. It’s visually stunning, and the music causes an ear orgasm. Atlus really paid attention and polished this four-year-old diamond, making it utterly and beautifully radiant. With the vanilla Persona 5 costing less, is it worth buying an enhanced version? Yes – all the extra content is amazing, and the quality of life additions make Persona 5 Royal the definitive version.
It’s really difficult to find a game that has the best combat system, pool of characters, story plot, visuals and audio all in the right balance. This turn based JRPG is one of the textbooks of its own genre. But we are reviewing the expansion pack here, which happens to be the same full price as its original. This clearly is the only ‘thumbs down’ of this review.

Still, I am confident enough to give this game a solid recommendation nevertheless, if you’re an RPG fan wanting something lengthy and enjoyable with fast-paced battles to play. If you were in my boat of dismissing the original or thinking it was perhaps too much akin to the other anime styled RPGs you’ve seen, then please, I do truly implore you to make an exception and give this game a shot: It’s truly great, and one I’m more than happy to have started a journey with! Here’s hoping I continue to have a good time as I play it through the coming months.
Performing an seemingly impossible feat, Persona 5 Royal manages to be better than Persona 5, considered until then the best of its genre. There are many qualities: beautiful visuals; battles and enhanced features; characters and their interesting relationships; amazing story and even better side missions. Revisiting the adventure of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts was once again an incredible, fun and challenging experience. P5R is a mandatory title for both new players and veterans.

Persona 5 Royal is a love letter from Atlus to Persona 5 fans. It’s essential for RPG enthusiasts who have yet to experience the original, but the amount of fan service here also makes it worth checking out for series veterans.
Surely one of the 10 best games ever, this JRPG with a great turn-based battle system will absorb you thanks to its extremely well done human relationships even more than its great gameplay.

In the end, Persona 5 Royal is a substantially massive game. If you’ve never played before this is where you want to start. Just be prepared for spending time on a JRPG that is absolutely over 100 hours even if you attempt to rush it. If you’re a returning player, it kind of depends on whether I would recommend you jump into Royal or not. If you weren’t the biggest fan and you thought the game was okay but you weren’t in love with it, I wouldn’t bother. The original version was great as is and after experiencing it, I don’t think most of the new story content was needed. If you are a huge fan though and it’s the type of game you see yourself going back to time and time again, absolutely I would recommend P5R. This game is made for you and you’ll appreciate the stuff added. Despite not liking the third semester or seeing any reason for it, Persona 5 Royal is still another quality ATLUS game in general and I can’t knock it too much. I had fun playing it for the most part and it’s still got all the aspects that make a great game.
Persona 5 Royal is the perfect ending blow for the Persona 5 story. This full version is the best RPG game so far this year. It has a meticulous plot, varied and complete battles, a perfect drawing, excellent soundtrack and many extras. The only problem is the not good introduction of the new girl along story.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t even the least bit wary of the fact that I’d have to play through another 100 hours of Persona 5 to really enjoy Persona 5 Royal, but at the end of the day, I’m glad I did.
Overall, Persona 5 Royal is an incredible deluxe version of what was, in my mind, already one of the greatest JRPGs of all time. The new characters, gameplay features, and more efficient mechanics make Persona 5 Royal worth the time sink for returning fans who have already plugged 100+ hours into the original while making the adventure more accessible and fun for new players.
What all this adds up to is the best way to experience Persona 5, whether you’re looking to replay the story again, or jumping in for your first go. Persona 5 Royal takes one of the best games ever made and improves on it, with a ton of extra content you never saw coming.
By this point, it’s fair to say that I’ve talked, ad nauseam, about Persona 5 Royal. But for those of you wanting a TL;DR, here it is: Persona 5 Royal is an absolutely, positively fantastic experience, and anyone who considers themselves to be a fan of the series would be doing themselves a disservice if they didn’t pick it up. I may not know what lies in the future for the Phantom Thieves, but if this game’s any indicator, things are looking very good.
Even if you played the original game, Persona 5 Royal feels like a different game in a lot of places specially the way it handles some characters if you compare it with the base game, right now P5R still is one of the greatest JRPG of this generation

Persona 5 Royal is a title that excels in all sections and that manages to surprise even the players of the original game. From Atlus they were very clear about what they wanted to offer with this part and have managed to sign one of the best JRPGs in history, and without a doubt one of the clear contenders for best games in recent years.
