Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha Reviews
Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha is a fun collection of notable artifacts from the golden age of arcade shmups.
This collection could be recommended for those who want to casually drop a few credits in a Psikyo game here and there, and are not going to become too concerned about learning or clearing the game.
Barring Sol Divide, this is a great collection of shooters from one of the best in the business. If you're a fan of the shmup that hasn't made the leap into these titles on Switch, now's the perfect time to do so, even if it does only just manage to justify its price versus picking up the games separately.
Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha on the Nintendo Switch brings a compilation of six old-school shoot'em-ups, the kind that made many fans in the 1990s. The games featured in the collection are overall quite good and entertaining and the way this compilation was adapted to the Nintendo Switch works wonders for the experience of retro shoot'em-ups. While more extras and additional content wouldn't harm, Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha will make shoot'em-ups fans very satisfied with this collection.

Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha compiles six good to dispensables shoot'em up on a single Switch cartridge, giving curious players enough content to chains scores and playthrough. But despite some interesting scrolling options, the game lacks the most obvious features it needed to really please every fan of the genre.

Truth be told, this is an extensive package of quality shmups that are sure to keep genre enthusiasts in a frenzy for hours. That said, there are a million shooters, and this package doesn't offer anything that hasn't been done already. Still, Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha is a more affordable way to get all these games at a lower cost.
A fine collection of some of Psikyo's best works.
If you’re a big fan of shooters and don’t already own the majority of the games included, Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha is a bit of a no-brainer, really.
Psikyo shooters range from above average to good. Therefore for any genre fan, those tend to be safe bets for a truly good time
On the plus side, each game can be played co-op and there is no shortage of ways to challenge yourself. Shoot-'em-up enthusiasts will be fairly pleased, but this feels like a missed opportunity to really celebrate these six games and where they came from. Psikyo Alpha certainly doesn't shoot for the stars, and you might already own some of these games, but its stellar gameplay is still out of this world.
If you haven't already purchased most of the games separately, Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha can be a pretty sweet addition to any shmup fans' library as it contains a handful of solid titles that you're sure to enjoy for years to come.
There's no doubt the Switch has become the ideal platform for retro and throwback titles of all kinds...
Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha is one of the best collections like this I’ve seen. The port work was all quality and you can tell the team really wanted these to come out as close to perfect as possible. Fans of classic Shmups should be all over this one. They will definitely find a lot to love here. These game are pretty short and you can run through them in a few hours, but there is a ton of replay value as you challenge yourself to do better at each game. The $39.99 price tag might be a bit steep for casual fans, but I feel like the quality is here. This one is worth your coin if want to get into some classic Bullet-Hell goodness.
Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha is a great launch point for shoot-em-up and arcade fans.
As a longtime fan of this genre, I'm always happy when new or old titles find their way to the West. So also with Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha, where I already own games like Strikers 1945, Strikers 1945 II for Playstation 2. In principle, the collection is well developed and offers corresponding options where everyone who can start with the genre will have fun. But the lack of an online ranking for high scores and other goodies such as background information about the different titles or a sound test would have been a must.

It’s no secret that the origin of Shoot ’em Ups lies in the arcades of days-gone-by. In that moment it was imperative to create games that were at once challenging, engaging, and would have people spending their coins. These are the kind of games that are found in Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha, the first of a two-volume collection of Arcade Shoot ‘em ups.
This compilation will know how to dazzle the lovers of the shoot'em up, of course, but also those who miss the recreational ones: their short and frantic games will accelerate our pulse and steal a smile that oscillates between resignation and healthy chop with the little machine

As great of a collection as Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha is, shmup fans would probably already own each of the titles on Switch. However, this does allow them to own them all in one physical collection. There isn’t anything added to the collection either, so you’re pretty much just getting the games.
Overall, I would say that Psikyo Shooting Stars - Alpha is just about a must for Shump fans. Six titles, six sets of leaderboards, plenty of options to change up your options such as extra continues and loads of different gameplay options, this first of two packages is worth picking up.
EXCELLENT - Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha is a fantastic shooting collection. Of course this comes with a slight disclaimer, because if you love shooters this will satiate your desire for many hours on end. If you aren’t a fan of the genre then you should pass this one up just like you have every other shooter in the past. This is fan service at its finest and should be handled as such.
