Entertaining, yet still somehow boring experience with good campaign and paper thin game as a service concept.

Marvel's Avengers seems uncomfortable with itself. The single player campaign is charming and only lags in the areas that feature dull loot collecting sections. The post-game features fun combat in a co-op setting but can be a genuine drag to slog through. Overall the game is lacking a sense of life and variety to compliment the fun combat. It's a shame because playing as the Avengers is a delightful experience, with each hero having its own endearing play quirks. Perhaps future updates will nail the balance, but right now it's not quite worthy of lifting Thors Hammer.

This is the perfect example of "Games as a Service" done right. Marvel's Avengers offers up a superb campaign story to play through that is promised to be expanded on in the future. The gameplay may be repetitive, but it includes just enough to keep players interested and invested in the endgame content that is available now to keep this game going until the next step in its roadmap. The possibilities and potential in the future here are hugely exciting.

Marvel’s Avengers is just not a fun game. It’s a vapid, boring, buggy, uninspiring mess of a live service that tries to jump on the band-wagon and falls flat on its face doing so.

Beyond the horrible repetition and seemingly tacked-on multiplayer, Marvel’s Avengers genuinely features a golden single-player narrative. Kamala Khan is one of the best and most surprising additions to the game. Her highly relatable personality is exceptionally geeky, and pushes the campaign in wonderful, albeit cliched, directions. Character progression can be a bit tedious outside of single player, with a handful of missions, bosses, and enemies that tick the necessary boxes at first. Sadly, the very same aspects that work exceptionally well in single-player serve as nothing more than unnecessary effort and filler in multiplayer. At its core, Marvel’s Avengers has a serious identity crisis. It absolutely is worth picking up for any comic book fan to enjoy the super narrative, but ultimately has very little replay value for anyone who dislikes monotonous grinding.

These types of games live and breathe on their player base and so far, it’s been alright. Only time will tell, and we’ll see how long Avengers is supported. While right now, Marvel’s Avengers is a good game that has a few issues here and there, but a fun time nonetheless, in a year’s time, it could very well be a great game with more varied content. There is most certainly the potential for that here. Let’s hope it actually happens.

Avengers 'service' game is struggling for players, but punchy combat and a strong campaign give it a fighting chance of revival

To lead an original Avengers story, to take some of the most beloved characters in the multi-verse and to build something that attracts new enthusiasts as well as respect and engage the super fans alike is bold, brave and sadly just a little out of reach for this developer. Yet, there’s enough on show here to keep the audience playing and exploring the world created by Shaun Escayg and the writing team at Crystal Dynamics.

Despite it having its fair share of issues, Marvel's Avengers is the licensed Destiny clone that is more than just that.

Marvel’s Avengers does so much right when just being a game, but ultimately fails when trying to be the game Crystal Dynamics wants, which is an obvious Destiny clone.

I’m keen to see how Avengers continues to evolve and change in future updates and after implementing player feedback. Right now it’s hard to recommend the game based on the multiplayer component alone, but the full single player campaign was a welcome surprise, and if you’re a comic book fan and want to come along for the ride to see what Avengers will evolve into as updates roll out it’s certainly worth checking out to see if it’s for you.

Marvel Avengers is a roleplaying action brawler video game. The combat is good and responsive. It has similar hub-style play similar to Monster Hunter and Anthem which is not everyone's cup of tea. The main single-player campaign is short but there is much more once that is over. Quickly though it can feel repetitive once you reach the endgame.

"Marvel's Avengers" proves to be an entertaining action bombast with a multi-layered story, an authentic protagonist and the right fan service. However, the fights sometimes lack the right depth, as the individual attacks are too generic overall. We also would have liked to have seen a little more variety in the creation of the side missions and the levels. Technically, "Marvel's Avengers" seems to be quite solid to us, even if some flaws can't be denied. Overall, "Marvel's Avengers" doesn't set any new standards in its genre - but fans of the successful series will certainly get their money's worth.

Marvel’s Avengers doesn’t appear like any other Game as a Service. Crystal Dynamics did a great job on single player, but the multiplayer mode feels boring and repetitive. There are a lot of useless and irrelevant activities and the quality of the endgame is so cheap.

The Reassemble story campaign shows that Marvel's Avengers offers a lot of promise, but the Avengers Initiative mode failed to capitalize on it so far.

Marvel’s Avengers is fun to play with all the heroes. Each has a different skill, unique abilities. MCU characters here are less showed that connects them with the comic.

Avengers is a highly inconsistent title with great narrative and gameplay. On the other hand, uninteresting content and noticeable repetitiousness can pretty quickly discourage you from playing the game. Similarly, there's another big issue with the technical side of the title, which makes it almost impossible to play the game smoothly. However, we do believe that in time, the developers will eliminate such problems by new content and patches.

Despite its technical problems, the slightly boring gameplay and the constant repetition of assets at different levels, the game offers a very good story that is able to win over any Avengers fan.
