The Wonderful 101: Remastered
Top Critic Average
The Wonderful 101: Remastered is indeed wonderful with its action-packed campaign and highly enjoyable gameplay. As if that's not enough, there's an underlying message that I'm sure we could all use right now.
The Wonderful 101: Remastered is and remains an entertaining action platformer that you don't have to take too seriously. You can't relax here, but there are enough brain-less button mashers out there anyway. The port is graphically mediocre and disappointing with countless blurred, pixelated textures, but that shouldn't stop action fans from enjoying the game, especially if they couldn't give the title a chance on the Wii U.

While the combat and controls are a little bit clunky at times and the “second screen” can take up a bit too much real estate, especially in portable mode, that doesn’t stop The Wonderful 101 Remastered from being fast-paced superhero fun that anybody looking for a challenge would enjoy.
Its flashy appeal, and marvelous vibes help cement its establishment as one of the best hero story’s told in video gaming, and certainly will hold its legacy within Platinum’s esteemed franchises, as one of the best.
There is nothing else like The Wonderful 101; you can’t play anything else and get a similar experience. It is a rare and special kind of action game that demands the player to get to grips with a completely original gameplay style. After mastering it; you are likely to still make discoveries about the combat, dozens of hours in the post-game.
If you missed out on it during the Wii U cycle, there has never been a better time to unite in the deeply flawed yet ceaselessly delightful world of The Wonderful 101: Remastered.
With such a unique approach to the release of The Wonderful 101: Remastered on the Nintendo Switch, and because it would have been a missed opportunity not to – something you’ll find rather apt as you read on, I have chosen to share 101 comments, considerations and key details about PlatinumGames’ latest game. Enjoy!
Like an orchestral (Platinum) score, The Wonderful 101 requests some deciphering first and many repetitions - as this slightly Remastered rendition show - to be assimilated. Only then, pleasure kicks in, while revealing its grandeur. Such jubilation leads to forgive, if not forget all the rambling through this delirious, overactive and genuinely unique work of Hideki Kamiya, still destined for the rare "happy viewtiful".

The Wonderful 101 isn't just a unique spin on the action genre, it's a title that oozes with enthusiasm in a way that very few games do, and although the remaster doesn't do quite enough to alleviate the daunting learning curve, it's one that action fans have no excuse to skip.
The Wonderful 101 Remastered is an incredible action game, one definitely worthy of playing for those who skipped over it on Wii U. The unique battle mechanics make it a standout and borderline essential for action game fans, while those more casual fans who just want a big explosive adventure will find a lot to love here. And if any game deserves to be played by a wider audience, this has to be it.
