The previous entries in the Project CARS series catered completely towards the sim racer and the decision to break away from that is both strange and bold. Not only has the series abandoned its roots, it doesn't seem to acknowledge them, either, with the team stating this is still a sim gaming. It's not, though - at all. However, that's not a bad thing for the casual fans. The result is a brand new, arcade racer that wider audiences can truly enjoy. Slightly Mad Studios has crafted a fast, frantic, and enjoyable arcade experience. The new cars feel individual and there's plenty of incentive to replay challenges to get the career level increased and the career achievements completed. It's just a shame then, that there's a key part that so negatively impacts the whole experience of Project CARS 3, and that is the grind. It regularly makes things so much worse and it seems like such a quick thing to fix - just increase the money paid out. Make it retrospective for those who have already invested so much time and this will instantly address the biggest issue.

Project CARS 3 is good, but not good enough to compete with the likes of GRiD or Forza Horizon. The path chosen by Slightly Mad studios for the third version of the game is full bumps that divert the whole series from being pioneers of the semi-simulation genre to an average racing game.

Project CARS 3 may not be the best game in the series but it's definitely the best Racing game of 2020. Being an arcade game might not match the taste of realistic gameplay fans, but the vast majority of Racing fans, can enjoy Project CARS 3 a lot with its smooth gameplay.

As the existing fans look on with shock, Project Cars 3 decides to make a franchise U-turn. It doesn't cause any huge accidents and merges into the new lane with decent grace, but it's already trailing the pack of other arcade racing games, leaving many to wonder if it was worth doing.

A fun, casual arcade racer that has a decent chunk of a career mode to keep you busy with some fun aspects, let down by wonky AI and being placed into the wrong series of games making it really hard to recommend to either demographic of casual race fans or sim racers.

Project Cars 3 turns its back a bit on the sim community but manages to finally give new players access to the game with great gamepad handling and a rewarding and varied career mode. In terms of graphics there isn't much improvements to see to Project Cars 2 and also a lot of bugs and framerate troubles keep the console version a bit back. If you are looking for a game to pass the time till the next Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport you'll still have a lot of fun with Project Cars 3.

Anyone who didn’t like what Project CARS and Project CARS 2 offered, will love Project CARS 3. But also, the inverse is true; if you loved the first two for their pure unadulterated simulation, you’re likely to be turned away with this third entry. I found it a bit of a balanced approached that’s way more focused and in-line with other games in the genre, that remains appealing to me. Project CARS 3 is incredibly deep, retaining a lot of the DNA of what makes it so good. When you’re able to open up cars in straight lines to hear their exhaust notes, you’ll be sporting a Grinch-like smile that extends from ear-to-ear. That’s a priceless reaction you won’t get anywhere else but in Project CARS 3.

Project Cars 3 doesn’t revolutionize racing, but delivers enjoyable simcade-action for everyone. Who felt that Project Cars 2 was too tough or overwhelming will find himself a new home here.

It’s an enticing racer that surely will exhilarate and fulfil the empty void that the XBOX exclusive leaves this year with the Series X on the precipice. However, with a positive outlook and an appreciative experience being had with PC3, we’re sure to see Project CARS 4 racing over the hills, and making its way towards pole position.

Project Cars 3, the racing is great fun. Its just a shame that it has the preconceptions that a game with the Project Cars name will always carry. If you can look past the name and see the game for itself, as an arcade racer then you are in for a treat. Whilst it is no means perfect, its a great change in direction and one that I am happy they have gone in that direction. Project Cars 3 races to a Thumb Culture Gold Award

A numbered entry on a series that feels like a spin off. Not a simulator, not an arcade and hard to recommend when there are plenty of other games that do much, much better what PC3 tries to do.

With Project Cars 3, Slightly Mad Studios delivers a more accessible and arcadey racing experience, increasing its playability for standard controller users and offering us one of the best racing game Career modes around. It's not perfect though, mainly due to an unbalanced upgrade system, lack of qualification sessions and mechanical damages and definitely improvable graphics.

Taking the game at face value then, and it's good, not mind-blowing, but functional and pleasing. VR support definitely needs some work to get it up to speed though. Ultimately, I found it solid fun, and that's what counts despite any grievances I had with the game's general direction.

In an attempt to gather new players, Project Cars 3 switched to semi-arcade, but to what extent this policy is going to keep its older players happy is another topic. There is no denying the addictive and fun core gameplay of PC3, but the serious and even scandalous technical failures may keep most of the buyers at bay. Meanwhile if you, like the reviewer, think that the graphics aren't everything, then you might as well give this title a shot. Let's hope Slightly Mad Studios patch the game up with some major updates. But with the technical disasters like these, it's very unlikely.

Project Cars 3 say goodbye to the racing simulator genre for stay between racing simulators and racing arcades. Graphically, it is not even close to what it should be. It’s a enjoyable game, as well as a bit disappointing.

Unfortunately, the elation didn’t last very long and my first actual race was much more disappointing. I think I placed in the last position, but it was hard to tell as there seemed to be an endless stream over cars over-taking me at every corner so I have no idea how many were actually in the race. I didn’t even get a chance to check where on the HUD it gave you your position because I was concentrating so much on getting around each corner without just smashing my number plate into the barriers – even on the first track there were a LOT of corners. They could’ve given me a basic oval track to practice on for a while first!

We are certainly not talking about a full-fledged simulator but Project Cars 3 will be able to make you spend good hours of play in complete fun. A title that deserves a chance despite some technical problems that can be resolved with future updates.

Project CARS 3 was ambitious in trying to make such a great style transition, but it took a much bigger step than the leg. In addition to disappointing its long-standing fan base, it does not present itself as a good option for those who are looking for their first racing game.
