At the end of the day, Peril on Gorgon is more The Outer Worlds. Whether that's for better or for worse will largely depend on how much you're itching to re-enter the Halcyon Colony and how satisfied you are with the game as it is. Obsidian have doubled down on delivering best-in-class RPG design backed by fantastic writing and quest structure and a solid gameplay loop, even if it gets there without much of an attempt to break the mould. Hopefully the next expansion throws caution to the wind a little more, but if you're dying to jump back in I can absolutely recommend nipping off to Gorgon for a weekend.
Obsidian’s excellent The Outer Worlds has finally received its first expansion. Aside from adding a new map to explore, Peril on Gorgon offers new quests, characters, enemies, loot and lore, as well as a level cap increase from 30 to 33. While having more to do in a great game is always a good thing, one question remains: Is this DLC worth the asking price of $14.99?
But this DLC has all the elements that makes The Outer Worlds so fun to play and serves as a good reason to return to it if you had put it down and enhances it for those playing it for the first time. Though it doesn’t hit that must play level, it is certainly worth picking up if you have enjoyed the main game and have an itch to return. Peril on Gorgon is satisfying though short and to capitalise on this, I hope the second DLC is released pretty soon into 2021 and not a long wait for it.
The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon is about more of the same good stuff that made the base game great, and sometimes, that is enough.
Peril on Gorgon is, for the most part, a solid expansion to The Outer Worlds. While it doesn't do too much beyond adding a new story and locales, equipment and character options, it definitely makes the base game feel a bit more full. It still has some of the issues that the base game has but is an overall enjoyable experience and one I recommend if you want to get a bit more out of The Outer Worlds.
The Outer Worlds’ Peril on Gorgon DLC is mechanically unambitious in that it doesn’t introduce any new ideas to change up gameplay, but it does take the crew of the Unreliable to several new locations around the Hyperion system as it unveils a fairly lengthy and entertaining detective story.
The Outer Worlds' first expansion fits quite neatly into the main game, not really changing it significantly but potentially having pretty big consequences in the aftermath of the events of main plot. The story is well written and interesting with its share of surprises, and dialogue is as witty and funny as ever. If more of The Outer Worlds is what you want, Peril on Gorgon is exactly that.
Peril on Gorgon, the first DLC released for The Outer Worlds, maintains all of the pros and cons we've already seen in the base game. The plot is intriguing while the characters remain the true highlight, but combat is a bit lackluster and optimization underwhelming.
It is wonderful to revisit the setting and characters of The Outer Worlds. But due to the way the expansion is nestled within the greater story, the admittedly entertaining and well-written adventure ultimately feels a bit hollow. Fans will enjoy hanging out with Parvati for a few hours – and some narrative twists keep things lively – but some changes or expansions to the gameplay would have been very welcome.
Perhaps our favourite thing about the expansion is that it gives your crew a little more room to breathe. A lot of new dialogue has been recorded for Peril on Gorgon, and your allies chime in throughout the DLC's main quest, which lasts a reasonable six to eight hours or so.
Peril on Gorgon is an entertainingly substantial chunk of The Outer Worlds content, with a handful of side-quests that will keep you poking around the planet until you’ve seen every inch.
Fans of The Outer Worlds will be happy with Peril on Gorgon. However, for anyone else, fifteen dollars is far too steep of an asking price.
Peril on Gorgon is a welcome addition to an already great game, that provides some solid, seven/eight hour-long adventuring for anyone wishing to dive back into some silly space jaunts. A meaty main story filled with gut-wrenching moral choices, fits very snugly into the already developed world. The most fun to be had however, as with the main experience, are the side quests. Getting to know Gorgon's bizarre inhabitants really develops the world, and every personality encourages missions to be completed to their fullest. A great start to hopefully a lot of DLC to come.
Overall, Peril on Gorgon is enjoyable. At 8 hours, this is a proportionally acceptable length for an Outer Worlds add-on. All of the writing and characters that captured our imagination last year are still here.
Should be bigger, more epic and entertaining, but despite these flaws it’s a quite pleasant trip.

Peril on Gorgon is a great DLC for players who want more The Outer Worlds. Peril on Gorgon does a very good job with its Sci-fi Noir style story and successfully written dialogues. Sadly, the fact that it does not bring any extra innovations is a little bit disappointing.

Not a bad expansion but not even a very good one, Peril on Gorgon can be an enjoyable return to the Halcyon colony for those that can't wait to play some more of The Outer World. For everyone else, it may be better to just wait for a sale... or the next DLC.

Peril on Gorgon is definitely worth the play in a quarantine scenario. A great addition to Outer Worlds' content but ultimately nothing thematically ground-breaking.
If you really enjoyed The Outer Worlds and need a reason to play again, or have been hankering for more, then Peril on Gorgon is worth checking out.
