Death's Door is a gorgeous action RPG inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and Souls Franchise. It has well-made hand-designed interconnected levels with a delicate combat system and elegant puzzles. Death's Door also succeeds in audiovisual aspects and delivers an unbelievably coherent experience. This game is an indie masterpiece and a must-buy.

An exercise in design excellence, Death’s Door recognizes and capitalizes on its strengths to deliver a smart, creative, and thoroughly engaging adventure, painted with wonderful visual strokes and peppered with witty, thoughtful commentary on life, death, and how we spend the hours in-between. Sporting polish beyond its budget and ambition beyond its scale, Death’s Door is one of the year’s best releases, and a must-play for adventure fans everywhere. Don’t fear the Reaper.

The frantic gameplay always leaves you wanting to clear one more room to see what’s next and that feeling never faded for me throughout my playthrough.

With all of that said, I was left joyful and entertained after playing Death’s Door. The game is immensely charming and wonderful. Its seamless combat system, coupled with its immaculately designed levels makes its core gameplay loop very satisfying and engaging. Its surprise of a story also managed to hook me in when outside of combat. Every moment-to-moment experience is perfectly crafted, from humorous dialogue to surprising revelations, standard encounters, and boss fights. This game is a treat and you should buy it and play it immediately.

Death's Door strikes the right balance between challenge and enjoyment. The experience is further enriched by short, fun puzzles and a divergent world design that encourages exploration.

It's also never glaring (aside from a few very obvious Nintendo design nods), and so the end result is an experience that feels whole and homogenous, and entirely new in the lit videogame pantheon.

Everything from its overall look, the amazing orchestral soundtrack, its mostly tight combat, and exquisite level design makes the fact that Acid Nerve is primarily made up of four people simply astounding. Devolver Digital has published no shortage of fantastic games, and Death’s Door just might be the new crown jewel. This is a game that’ll put Acid Nerve over as one of the top indie teams out there, and I simply can’t wait to see what they have next.

A lovingly crafted dungeon crawler brimming with personality, Death's Door combines robust, rewarding combat with equally gratifying metroidvania exploration, and a story packed with oddball characters. An assured, sophomore effort from developer Acid Nerve, Death's Door is caw-fully good.

Death's Door is all around professional. It's incredibly polished, well crafted with sound mechanics, and for the most part, it's a blast to play. I just wish the game surprised me more often. I wish it had something new to say, something different to offer. Everything else is so damned good and I don't want to come off as negative at all. I just felt that this great game was a few pieces away from being an all-time classic. Either way, it's easy to recommend spending some time knocking on Death's Door.

‎Death Door is a game that overflows with quality in each of its sections. With a fun and addictive gameplay, a graphic aspect that has nothing to envy to the big productions and a fairly wide soundtrack that fits perfectly with each situation and presenting itself as one of the candidates for play of the year.‎

As a game reviewer, I assumed I was bad at games so how on earth did I find Death's Door to be an unchallenging and somewhat unsatisfying experience? Whatever the reason, it's still a good game and I enjoyed mercilessly slaughtering its unique bosses.

Death’s Door is one of those rare games that grab your attention straight away and keeps it for the length of its journey. At its core, Death’s Door is both a Zelda and a Soulsboune clone. However, the two-man team over at Acidnerve have crafted something that’s both an excellent mix of genres, whilst also remaining original. Death’s Door understands what makes these two genres great and rather than imitation, it refines and expands on these points.

Though a short game, there has been so much thought put into Death’s Door. Even Crow’s smallest of movements are so cute and bird-like. I wish there was more because ten hours just isn’t enough! The humor is splendid, and the mysteries waiting to be uncovered are so tantalizing.

Death’s Door is a wonderful experience that should not be missed. Don’t be scared off by the comparison to the Souls games. Sure it shares a few mechanics from those, but it feels more like a macabre interpretation of Zelda with some Souls twists. I simply adore this title and cannot wait for others to experience it. It is one of the best games I have played this year and it will likely be top of mind when the awards of 2021 come up. Do not sleep on this title.
