While any of Gearbox’s looter shooters are better with friends, the solo experience can be just as fun here. Those not into the futuristic sci-fi setting of Borderlands will likely find solace and endless refuge in the fantasy world found here. This change proves that the Borderlands formula has the room to stretch its legs and do more going forward. Wonderlands’ humor works because it makes jokes on the style it’s emulating rather than making pop culture references. This shows every dungeon master can make a messy, but fun campaign, and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands shakes up the Borderlands formula enough to be a exceptionally honed fantasy adventure.

The best entry for the Borderlands series, and possibly (maybe) Dungeons and Dragons.

In Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, Gearbox submits a new entry into the looter-shooter subgenre they popularized in 2009 with Borderlands. While it has the same bones as its predecessors, Gearbox took some risks in its shift to a fantasy world. Most of these risks pay off, culminating in a 30-hour experience I anticipate returning to with a new Fatemaker. Despite a weak story, a bland antagonist, and a repetitive endgame, Wonderlands’ stellar gameplay and humorous side-quests make it a worthy addition to the Borderlands Universe.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a good, funny and light release that uses the same mechanics as the series from which it is inspired.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands had a lot of potentials. The transition from the sci-fi setting to the fantasy setting suited the game incredibly well, but the possibility that came with the change was hardly used at all. The gunfights and weapons are fun, but over time you discover their uniform template, which isn't helped by choice of a semi-open world. The story maintains a comedic pace but lacks originality. The spells are excellent, the classes too, but not one part of Tiny Tina's Wonderlands dares to step out of the shadows of the Borderlands series. And that includes a bad connection in the case of the co-op. Whether or not you like games like this, you probably won't mind playing them; whether it entertains you is another matter.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is fun to play through the first time or even while helping friends complete their campaign. Sadly, the game does not live up to the overall expectations that the team set. Yes, it still has the same Borderlands feel, but as a whole comes up a bit short. The story is enjoyable and the chaos dungeon does give players end-game content, but at the end of the day, it is rather lacking due to limited missions and overall exploration. Why buy a $60 game you can perfect in under 35 hours when you can pick up Horizon Forbidden West or Elden Ring and get double or more gameplay for the same price? If you love the typical Borderlands art style and humor then it will be an enjoyable time, but if you were looking for a massively open-world look elsewhere. The game’s overall story is enjoyable but the Dragon Lord still lives in the shadows of Handsome Jack. Despite playing through the campaign, there was no moment that really stood out to us. Yes, there are comical moments but not ones that you talk about at parties or ones that will carry on for years to come. As a stand-alone title, it’s more of an expanded DLC rather than an actual game.

Tiny Tina's Wonderland offers us a continuation within the world of Borderlands that does not disappoint although it does not innovate enough. Even with all that, it is a remarkable and addictive proposal. N

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a refreshing take on the traditional Borderlands formula. It’s not so far different that I can recommend it to people that don’t like the design of Borderlands, but if you are, or you’re a fan of fantasy games or looter-shooters then there’s a lot here for you to like. It’s incredible writing, performances and endless amounts of customisation will keep players coming back to replay the game or enjoy it’s endgame content for a long time to come. If Gearbox decide to make Tiny Tina’s world a staple series alongside releases of core Borderlands games, that’s something I’d fully be on board with.

Tina Tina's Wonderlands is nothing revolutionary, just a great looter shooter with a funny, if a bit infantile, story and a solid gameplay foundation.

Borderlands has been a much-loved series for many years, since the original released in 2009. It went on to release a further 3 games across many platforms, all with very similar gameplay mechanics because fans adored the looter-shooter dynamic. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it, right? Well, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is upon us and it has brought a whole host of new features to my favourite game series. Let’s get into what they are.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a super fun and enjoyable game that I'm already looking forward to the DLCs. The story is brilliant and equally well "voiced". As you progress through the gameplay, you'll pass quests that couldn't be funnier. Gearbox has built in gags that you can only understand or recognize after a second thought. There are references to various children's shows, Star Wars and Borderlands, among others. Clap Trap is not missing either and comes with several questlines.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands might as well be an expansion for Borderlands 3. Only fans of Borderlands who can tolerate Tiny Tina should consider this game.

Gearbox did a great job of crafting the classes and making them feel unique enough to fit in this fantasy world. While I would have liked to see more synergy between them ala real Dungeons and Dragons tabletop games there is just enough here to make players feel like they are contributing to the group dynamic. With some tweaks here and there, I’d love to be given the opportunity to play in Tiny Tina’s world again. She can BM for me anytime.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is an easy recommendation for Borderlands and D&D fans, but those who have had their fill of the franchise may get tired of the repetitive combat and constantly looting useless items. The technical problems are the biggest issue, so hopefully, Gearbox Software releases new Tiny Tina's Wonderlands updates to address them soon.

Borderlands has always been the Godfather of looter-shooters, Wonderlands is the “Goodfellas.” It rebuilt my faith in the genre. Gearbox created a wonderful masterpiece of a game that I hope influences future iterations of the franchise.
