SNK VS. Capcom: Card Fighters' Clash Reviews
As good as it ever was and now incredible value, SNK Vs. Capcom: Card Fighters' Clash is still essential. Obviously the card-based gameplay isn't going to appeal to everyone, but at this asking price we'd say it's worth a go even if card games usually turn you off, especially if you dig SNK/Capcom's extensive character rosters. Many, many series are represented here and everything you need to learn to play is available in the scanned manual as well in-game via tutorials. Let it get its hooks into you and you've got a bit of a masterpiece here, and we're absolutely delighted that it's graced the Nintendo Switch with its excellence.
SNK vs Capcom Card Fighters' Clash was a brilliant game two decades ago, and the passage of time has done nothing to diminish that. If you're a fan of DCCG's, or the rosters of these two fighting game powerhouses, then Card Fighters' Clash is more or less essential.
The Switch release of SNK vs. Capcom Card Fighters Clash looks wonderful in its pixelated glory and they've added bonus features that make the game even more accessible. Features such as rewind, customizable displays, and even a manual truly create a well-rounded experience. It also helps that the Switch release is, quite frankly, really cheap. At $8, I highly recommend checking out this game, even if you're an extremely casual card fighting game player. The price is cheap enough and the game is so welcoming to newcomers that it could be a great stepping stone into the genre. For those who already love card fighting games, SNK vs. Capcom Card Fighters Clash is a great pick up you'll enjoy immensely.
SNK Vs Capcom Card Fighters Clash is honestly, a huge disappointment. It has some good visuals, but the actual gameplay is just boring, and bad. Skip this one all together.
An old school and fun game that nostalgic players could enjoy.

SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters' Clash holds up well from a gameplay perspective and is a great dive for fans of either publisher.
SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash is an incredibly addictive deck-building card game that has you collecting and fighting SNK and Capcom characters against each other. Making it look like you are playing on a Neo Geo is a neat touch but makes the game area very small making Switch hand-held mode quite hard.
With all of that being said, I don’t think Card Fighters is bad by any means. It’s quite the joy to play, and it is by no means the only "retro" experience that displays limitations that become more apparent with age. For the modest price being asked of players with this Switch release, it’s a great opportunity for a hit of nostalgia. As I said at the top of the review, however, it's not quite the timeless experience that its immediate peer is.
The amount of characters in SNK Vs. Capcom: Card Fighters' Clash is absurd and when you consider just how fun its battles are, you're left with a winning formula. Some aspects are a bit rough nowadays such as the cumbersome interface but it's still a good time.
Deckbuilders have become a full-fledged thing nowadays, with many pretty great ones on the Switch, but back when Card Fighters' Clash was released they were a bit more of an oddity...
SNK Vs. Capcom: Card Fighters’ Clash is a card fighting game like Hearthstone or Plants Vs. Zombies Heroes. Though it takes inspiration from these titles, instead of focusing on multiplayer elements, SNK Vs. Capcom: Card Fighters’ Clash features a story campaign like traditional Pokémon games. Do the gym fights pair well with the card battling? Find out in this Rapid Review.
A wonderfully simple game with just enough complexity to make it incredibly addictive, SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters' Clash is a nostalgic blast from the past that’s as fun to play today as it was 20 years ago. The playful art style and masterful pixel art really bring your favourite characters to life, and completionists will get a tonne of playtime out of the ‘collect them all’ aspect of the game. With some slightly better sound, a few modern quality of life improvements, and some online features, this game
Overall SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash is a solid card game that is a blast from the past. I may have missed this when it originally came out due to never owning a Neo Geo Pocket but I sure am glad SNK decided to re-release the game on Switch. Here’s hoping we see a new SNK vs. Capcom in the future or even a re-release of the Japanese-only second game that has been translated.
SNK vs Capcom: Card Fighters’ Clash is satisfying in its straightforwardness, and manages to really bring out the action in collectable card games. It’s a game that absolutely warrants being back in the conversation in 2022, and seeing a stack of familiar faces again is a lovely bonus.
Which is a shame, at the end of it all. SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash is a good card game that is starting to show its age. Poor tutorials, a grinding lack of progressions and a lacklustre UI might have been forgivable 20 years ago, but they really take the shine off what’s otherwise a good time. If a proper remake gets announced, count me in.
SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters' Clash is definitely one of the most celebrated cult classics in the NGPC library, and starting the year off with it feels like a smart move.
SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters’ Clash is an average card battler. It is really easy to pick up and play with a little depth, but I feel like some of the mechanics here hold it back a bit. At the $7.99 price tag, I feel like it is a good deal for those looking for something to just pick up and play on the go. I played right around eight hours and there were still plenty of cards left for me to hunt down on this one. I feel like fans of card battlers will have some fun here, even with the flaws. Hardcore SNK and Capcom fans will likely want to snag this one up as well. If for nothing else than to see the pixel art of their favorite characters battle it out.
SNK vs Capcom: Card Fighters’ Clash is an excellent card fighting RPG that combines the handy features of previous NEO GEO Pocket Color releases with the exciting and addictive card-collecting of the original game.
The Nintendo Switch port of SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters' Clash is lovingly crafted and the core game holds up surprisingly well. Whether you've got nostalgia for the original title or just the characters on the SNK and Capcom rosters, there is a lot to like here if you're a fan of card collecting games. The battles can be quite thrilling and it's great that this solid NeoGeo Pocket Color game can live on decades after release.
SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters' Clash is a captivating game with a simple system that can be a very good entry point into the TCG genre. Unfortunately, the emulation of this Neo Geo Pocket classic doesn't take into account the uniqueness of the original version and ends up undermining what could even have been the best re-release of the portable for the Switch.
