MLB The Show 22 bets on the “don't change a winning team” motto. That's not a bad thing, as it brings a generous amount of content for online and offline fun, but the co-op glitch can cut off the potential of what had to be one of the most thought-provoking mode. As much as the lack of our language also makes it difficult to understand a series of acronyms, expressions and jargon, it is really worth giving a chance to get to know this sport better.

It has all of the modes of the 4K versions, including the wonderful March to October, Road to the Show, and Diamond Dynasty offerings. While the online and visual aspects falter at times, the good far outweighs the bad here, as MLB The Show 22 is one of the best sports games of its kind and the Switch version is an excellent way to play it portably and an acceptable way to play it on a television. Here's hoping The Show is a perennial All-Star on Switch because I could get used to having an assortment of killer baseball games on Nintendo systems again.

There is room for improvement in future patches, but MLB The Show 22 is an enjoyable experience regardless of how it's played or how new a player is to the franchise. There's nothing quite like hearing the crack of the bat on a perfect swing and watching the ball sail out of the park. For veteran players, the minor improvements will go a long way in the near future, making this game feel true to the actual sport and giving players a realistic feeling of being on the field.

MLB The Show 22 remains the sport's one true constant, and some fresh tweaks to existing modes, along with a much-welcomed gameplay addition, prove the game can only get better year after year, even with some features being mysteriously omitted at launch.

Overall, MLB The Show 22 is a fantastic baseball simulator that fans of the sport will enjoy. Unfortunately, there aren’t enough notable changes to the game that make it a must-have. There are some little tweaks here and there that dedicated players will notice, but the total package isn’t too different. That said, it’s still worth picking up if baseball is your game.

MLB The Show 22 doesn't put up an all-star performance this year, but continues to be consistent in all avenues of play and finds new ways to make you want to spend time at the ballpark. Playing with friends in cooperative play is the standout feature if you can use it, but the on-the-field play and March to October also impress.

Last season, I was disappointed with the PS5/Series X versions of The Show as I was hoping for a step into the next console generation of visuals, animations, and physics. Expansion into the Xbox ecosystem and logistical issues due to COVID-19 necessitated a shorter and likely less-involved upgrade to the game. To get nearly the same experience for the second-straight year is a legit bummer. This is still the best professional sports sim you can get on any hardware and if you are a baseball fan that hasn’t played The Show in recent years, this is an experience to look out for. For others who have been waiting years for something new, this one sadly isn’t it.

MLB The Show 22 is another great offering in the series, but you can also feel stagnation in some areas of the game and its content. Gameplay is as fun as ever, however, co-op is underdeveloped and some glitches are annoying.

MLB: The Show 22 is certainly not a game for everyone - as a person with little idea about baseball, I couldn't take full advantage of what the game itself offered. Besides, it's just a well-polished sports project. Fans should not be disappointed.

The simulation of San Diego Studio proves to be solid even in the new vintage: the gameplay remains sumptuous, even if some modes begin to feel the weight of the years. From this point of view, we expected something new. The ability to play it directly on the GamePass on Day One is an added value for all baseball fans on Xbox, while the arrival on Nintendo Switch will make many players happy.

MLB: The Show '22 brings the baseball gameplay fans love with some minor improvements. Online the game still has some minor connectivity issues. Other than this and some minor glitches, the game is exactly what the fans expect. Unfortunately, there isn't much of a graphical advancement.

Even so, MLB The Show 22 is a very impressive baseball game. Although it doesn't reinvent the wheel with this year's entry, the game is extremely enjoyable and the wider accessibility of platforms will no doubt mean that MLB The Show 22 will reach plenty of baseball fans.

MLB The Show 22 is probably the best release of this series. MLB: The Show, in terms of yearly sporting games, sticks to being a comprehensive simulator with a wide range of features to attract a wider range of players. Even with a few new features like online co-op and commentary, I can't deny that this is largely the same game as last year.

In short, MLB The Show 22 feels like MLB The Show 21 after a decent-but-not-major patch has been installed. If you haven’t played the series for a few years, or are a newcomer looking to dive into baseball sims for the first time, this is the best thing on the market. If you picked the game up last year, you’re paying for minor tweaks and a roster update, and you might not feel a new game is worth it.

I happen to enjoy this year’s title, as a lot of those changes make the title a bit more challenging. But if you were looking for innovations to shake up the franchise, those just aren’t here.

MLB The Show ’22 puts up a stellar display of the baseball spirit, thanks to its more realistic than ever in-game visuals and player animations. The in-game physics ensures that every time you hit the ball, it’s a rare and rewarding sight to behold. Despite its fair share of nuances in microtransactions and online matching, there’s enough content to keep you hooked for at least three months time. As for newcomers, the payoff might not be that significant in the short term, but in the long run, it is an easy recommendation.
