Kao the Kangaroo Reviews
Our small taste of Kao the Kangaroo at PAX East left us craving more and we can say that we have not been disappointed. That taste gave us enough to get a feel of what the game has to offer and thankfully the rest of the game lives up to those expectations. If you’d like a modern platformer with subtle pop culture nods then you will love KAO the Kangaroo. This game is easy to pick up whether you are 4 or 13 going on 30. Honestly, for never hearing of the franchise before PAX East 2022, it makes us want to go back and play some of the older titles. We might just have to do that or wait til the other two games get a reboot. If you like platformers and/or kangaroos, you should enjoy this game.
Kao The Kangaroo is an excellent 3D platformer that captures the magic of the golden era. The solid mechanics and great level design make this nostalgic adventure a joy. Even though it’s not particularly difficult and sticks to conventions, it will keep you hooked from beginning to end.
While there's no question that the traditional mascot platformers for the most part went the way of the dinosaur quite some time ago, I'll gladly admit that every once in a while it's great to take one for a spin when well-executed...
While reinventing absolutely nothing, Kao the Kangaroo has proven to be a valid and enjoyable platformer.

Despite still relying on a lives mechanic, Kao the Kangaroo is still a very easy going 3D platformer aimed for kids. The intended target audience will likely adore this title and gamers who grew up and miss games like this will feel like they are coming home.
A great little 3D platformer that does it's best to give players a solid and exciting experience featuring a much more refined and redesigned Kao core experience and story. Kao the Kangaroo should impress with its solid controls and strong visual design - if players can accept the drops in visual quality on Switch then this is a hearty recommendation to all players of such titles.
Kao the Kangaroo (2022) is the perfect modernised reboot of the classic early 2000s 3D platformer. The game delivers a lot of nostalgia despite being a new game in the series, taking me back to my childhood when games were simple yet highly addictive and fun to play. The story offers around ten hours of gameplay, more if you’re wanting to grab the platinum trophy, which is a perfect length in my opinion. Whether you played the original games or not, fans of 3D platformers should certainly check this out – it’s just so colourful, fun, and satisfying to play.
A surprisingly well-made platformer with above-average visuals and engaging characters. A perfect entry-level collectathon for a younger audience.
After the disappearance of Kao’s Father, Koby, and his sister Mia, Kao has taken it upon himself to don the Gloves that his father hid from the world to become the hero his home needs. With his coach, Walt the Koala, offering his concerns over the magical set of Gloves, it becomes clear that Kao is no ordinary little Kangaroo, and he is more than capable of giving anyone who gets in his way, the old 1-2 punch combo. This journey will take him through jungles, volcanos, icy mountain tops with hordes of Stinky Bugs, Slimy frogs, and burly Monkeys standing in your way.
If you love 3D collect-a-thon platformers, Kao the Kangaroo is worth taking a look at once its bugs are patched. It might not bring anything new to the genre, but it’s a short slice of what makes 3D platforming fun.
When it comes to animal mascot games from the late 90s, and early 00s, the ones that immediately come to mind are Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, and Jak & Daxter.
Kao the Kangaroo is an excellent revisit to the golden age of 3D platformers. Though it doesn't reinvent the wheel of the genre, it provides enough nostalgia and competence to solidify itself as a staple in today's market.
Kao the Kangaroo has become a nice platformer that tickles some memories of my favorite games of the past and that still delivers its own charme.

Simple and fun, Kao the Kangaroo is a platformer that despite having minor flaws is worth playing: it's a fine tribute to the 3D platformers of the heydays.

Kao the Kangaroo is a well-meaning game, and despite some missteps, it is in my opinion one of the better 3D platformers of modern gaming. Heck, I’ll go as far as to say that I enjoyed Kao far more than I did the recent Crash 4, which was an incredible disappointment to me. For what Tate Multimedia is charging for this game, I say Kao the Kangaroo is easily worth buying for any 3D platforming enthusiast.
Kao The Kangaroo is an enjoyable and fun platformer, whose low difficulty level combined with its short duration is a hindrance to its potential to be placed alongside top titles like Crash Bandicoot and Ratchet & Clank. However, its overall quality is high enough to make it undoubtedly a worthy recommendation for platformer fans.
Kao the Kangaroo is a good 3D platform game, offering just the right amount of fun for those who like the genre. However, it is relatively short and easy, being aimed more at a younger audience. Also, some annoying bugs need to be fixed.

The return of the traditional 3D arcade was successful and kangaroo Kao gave us a real nostalgic blow. But there could be more worlds and content.

Kao the Kangaroo is a good way for the series to come back, it has its shortcomings on the technical side, but the gameplay is based on solid foundations that provide good level design and a satisfying chunk of content.

Kao the Kangaroo makes me miss the old ways of doing things. While it doesn't do much to challenge you, it's still lots of fun. If you want to chill out with a cozy platformer, you can't go wrong with this game.
