If you are itching to try a decent and lighter version of Soulslike games, then Thymesia is definitely worth investing some time into!
Thymesia offers an excellent combat system and some clever twists on old mechanics; it's a shame that the story and level design aren't nearly as strong. If combat is your thing, or you're in need of another action RPG, Thymesia fits the bill, but some players may find themselves losing interest after the tenth same-y corridor.
Thymesia is a very interesting game. On the one hand, it's hard to find unique aspects that define it, leaning too much on its inspirations, lacking that defining light. On the other hand, the team's expertise in design and game mechanics show the talent and potential for something more. Thymesia is a good start to what could be an impressive future for Overborder Studio.

It is a little rough around the edges, which is to be expected from a small team and backed by an indie publisher. Stick with Thymesia however and you’ll make some good memories with it, hopefully with some care down the line to refine the experience.
Using more classical elements of RPG genre has given Thymesia its own unique identity which in turn gives it an edge over the most souls-like titles but the design and atmosphere is still a little too similar to From Software products to make Thymesia a truly memorable experience.

Thymesia wears its inspirations on its sleeve, and the rest of its outfit screams “we want to make a Dark Souls game.” Even the messages that appears when you activate a checkpoint or die in combat carry similar fonts and colors. Yet it feels acceptable in this instance, because despite the clear influences or borderline copycat mechanics, the result is a very enjoyable game.
Whether you’re a Soulsborne veteran, desperately waiting for a Bloodborne PS5 remaster, or a newcomer wanting to dip your toe into the challenging genre, Thymesia is a game that should be on your wish list.
Thymesia is a Soulslike that rewards aggression and precision; more methodical or sword and board players might want to look elsewhere.
The fact that Thymesia is developed by a very small group of people with a very limited budget and in a very challenging genre, earns them enough credit to give their game a try and set them up for their future projects.

Thymesia is one of the best Souls-likes to enter the genre in years and is worth your time, attention, and occasional rage moment.
If you can handle the corners that were cut due to the budget, then Thymasia’s combat system is worth it all on its own.
In the end, the thing I love the most about Thymesia is that it doesn’t try to be anything more than what it is. It doesn’t ask you to spend more time than you should have to in order to fully complete it, while being just long enough to not only leave you wanting more but carefully not overstaying its welcome. It’s not a perfect game by any means, but this is a terrific first attempt from a new developer, and I’m going to be watching OverBorder Studio to see what they’ve got coming down the pipeline next.
Thymesia does more than enough to make its way out of the shadow of Bloodborne. It offers some fun levels to go around killing enemies in, and the combat is fast-paced, responsive, and most importantly, a lot of fun. Even its skill tree has some great ideas. This might not be the game for those who don't like a challenge, but for those who do, Thymesia is excellent.
Even with these blemishes and moments where the admiration for what's come before gets in the way of basic consistency and much-needed fluidity, OverBorder Studio have at least landed in a much better position with a foundation that's challenging and entertainingly so.
Behind its souls-like mask, Thymesia hides a gameplay surprisingly dynamic, engaging and full of fun challenges. Even if it cannot really punch above its weight and reach the high levels of some of the greatest (due in large part to a story that doesn't really shine), this OverBorder Studio game shouldn't be overlooked, especially by the fans of the genre.

Thymesia is a game that I expected to flop so hard given my initial impressions of the demo. But I am happy to say that the full release is much more polished and fleshed out thanks to OverBorder Studio diligently taking in the feedback of the players. Out of a sea of Soulsborne clones, it exudes just enough flavor to stand out thanks to the aggressive combat loop, robust plague weapon system, and dual health mechanic. Still, the two parry options, which require near perfect timing yet give little to no reward, need a complete rework. But hey, it's a janky and clunky love letter to its big brother Bloodborne.
Thymesia is a confident, good-looking Soulslike that arguably ranks among the best of the non-From Software titles in the genre.
Drawing from Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Thymesia creates a Souls-like experience that iterates on what's most important about From's beloved titles.
A welcome change of scenery to the faster strain of Soulslikes, Thymesia gets straight to the point of sword and claw without lasting any longer than necessary.
