One Piece Odyssey might not establish a new standard in the JRPG genre, but it is still an entertaining experience, especially if you are a fan of the franchise.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the ONE PIECE ODYSSEY world. The game is a solid JRPG and was much more enjoyable than other games in the same genre I’ve played lately. In a way, it reminded me of Dragon Quest games, which I love. However, I would have preferred more of a challenge during combat. Nevertheless, it is an impressive love letter to the ONE PIECE amine series.

One Piece Odyssey is a curious turn-based RPG whose affection for Eiichiro Oda's original work is noticeable in every little detail. In addition, it explores very interesting mechanics to make both combat and exploration pleasant experiences worthy of the best examples of the genre. However, it's important to keep in mind that there are a number of small bugs that can be bothersome, and the Portuguese translation in particular deserved better quality assurance treatment.

A stunning One Piece game great for fans and JRPG newbies, but one that won't satisfy hardened min-maxers.

The game contains challenging battles to match the RPG genre (even most of them were pretty easy), a graphic that can catch the essence of the Anime's exaggerated expression and the story of the past that the Straw Hat Pirates of present look back on. However, the worst conveniences can make you quit the game before you even experience them.

For fans of the One Piece manga and anime, One Piece Odyssey may be worth investing in. However, it may not be the best game for those who are not familiar with the source material or are looking for a more challenging turn-based RPG. The game is relatively easy and assumes that players have a certain level of knowledge about One Piece.

One Piece Odyssey is a rather classic JRPG, but one that manages to have a say with a fun and dynamic combat system.

One Piece Odyssey manages to not only be the finest One Piece title released, but it also stands on its legs alone as a damn fine JRPG adventure. It’s riddled with all kinds of franchise fan service, but that only carries a game so far and I don’t think I would have enjoyed playing through the game’s 40-hour+ story if that was all it had. The game managed to smash every expectation I had. While it had some wonky pacing and played it a little safe at times with the genre tropes, I felt fully invested in the game from start to finish. It’s to such a point that this game has rekindled my love of the franchise which had been ebbing to the point I was happy to just play the Musou titles for a story recap. It won’t convince anyone who actively dislikes or shows no interest in One Piece to get invested, but if you have a slight curiosity and a love for JRPGs, the game offers enough to entice and entrap players. If you’re a fan of Luffy and Co, then this is the easiest game recommendation I can make. This is the game I wanted from One Piece: World Seeker and has cemented itself as the absolute gold standard of Anime tie-in titles: no more cheap arena fighting games, please!

One piece Odyssey celebrates 25 years of the anime by providing a game with gameplay that is at times just as old. The turnbased fights have some interesting new elements, but outside the fights a lot feels oldfashioned. Quests lack a sense of progress, no fast travel during quests and the use of savepoints make this game feel like it hasn't progressed beyond a few decades ago. Fortunately, the anime itself is brilliant and makes you eager to go watch it right after you close the game.

One Piece Odyssey has all the heart of the original manga and tells an enjoyable storyline filled with interesting "what ifs" but is far too easy and often simple to the point of detriment.

Overall, One Piece Odyssey is the best video game story set in the One Piece universe to date. A delightful story and beautiful worlds more than make up for some more frustrating and outdated JRPG staples. Non-fans of the franchise might have a harder time getting into the already-established world, but it’s a hurdle that can absolutely be cleared. Whether players are newcomers or lifelong fans, One Piece Odyssey is a grand adventure absolutely worth going on.

One Piece Odyssey walks the line between being a great anime adaptation and an engaging video game admirably. It feels happy, bright, and true to the tone and content of the source material, and it succeeds in making you feel close to the characters as you join them on their grand adventure.

ONE PIECE ODYSSEY does an excellent job of transporting players back in time for epic fights, while beginners may struggle to keep up with the story's rapid pace from the very start. Although it shows promise, the game falls short as a quality role-playing game.

Despite these pitfalls, One Piece Odyssey is a success in storytelling, animation, and combat style. With a satisfying conclusion, One Piece Odyssey opens up a new world of potential storytelling in the One Piece universe. It's also proof that, if done correctly, games adapting iconic or expansive manga can be strong - if not groundbreaking - entries in the JRPG genre.

One Piece Odyssey is a game that feels crafted for fans, with handholding elements present to assist even if they never played an RPG before. However, people familiar with the games or unfamiliar with the series probably won't get much out of this adventure.

One Piece Odyssey is a pleasant surprise and fans can finally celebrate the first great game within this inspiring universe. This kind of Dragon Quest with One Piece skin works very well although it's an easy experience. Eiichiro Oda's contribution results in a faithful tone to One Piece and an interesting narrative that captures the player. This is ILCA's second game as the main studio and could be the start of a major series.

Pique adaptation with original writing that consolidates everything we know and love of One Piece, converging it with the best elements of a Persona or Dragon Quest, then making it its own experience is simply fantastic. Prepare yourself because One Piece Odyssey has already primed itself as one of the greatest JRPG’s you’ll ever experience.

Fans are in good hands with One Piece: Odyssey. In fact, more anime games should be following in strides made here. On offer is a wonderful adventure that feels like a theme park visit to the series lands, old and new. Characters shine and bounce off each other well both in and out of cutscenes as colourfully as they should. Some areas need better story pacing and quality of life improvements such as better checkpointing and save states, and going more all-in on different story timelines would've also gone a long way. And it's testing to see manga artist Eiichiro Oda's troublesome female character design. However, it's a blast of an RPG. Flaws are more than made up for in a thoroughly enjoyable anime affair along with an unexpected and very welcome spin on the known turn-based RPG formula. Smooth sailing lies ahead with One Piece: Odyssey.
