The third episode of The Wolf Among Us adds an illusory time limit, and it works damn well at ramping up the tension of Bigby's investigation before a stellar climax.

While we wanted more answers, episode three of The Wolf Among Us is a thrilling ride. The plodding pace of episode two is replaced in favor of far more drama and action. Though the series has yet to recapture the magic of the first episode, The Wolf Among Us still offers a grim fairy-tale world worth getting lost in.

There's still plenty to uncover, with two episodes to go, and things are setting up quite nicely for an explosive finale, but don't enter A Crooked Mile expecting to get much in the way of answers. The conclusion will come soon enough but until then, enjoy the bloody, twisted ride.

A great comeback from episode two, A Crooked Mile amplifies the drama—though sometimes in the wrong ways—and confronts Bigby with hard choices and proper detective work.

The Wolf Among Us Episode 3 is once again another fantastic adventure game from Telltale games. No, there aren't many puzzles to be solved, so if you are looking for a more traditional adventure experience you should probably look elsewhere. However, if you want perfect narrative, wonderful characters and a plot that will keep you guessing, then this is the game for you. If you have already stuck through The Wolf Among Us Episode 1 and 2, you should certainly continue with 3, and if you haven't played any episodes of The Wolf Among Us yet, seriously consider picking up a season pass just to try this episode out.

The content is fantastic, though the timing between episodes holds the game back.

With only two episodes left until the case can (presumably) come to a close, the third episode of the series brings us back on the path to the killer and takes where we need to go for the bitter end of The Wolf Among Us — even if it's to places we may not necessarily want to wind up.

Halfway through the first season of A Wolf Among Us, A Crooked Mile represents a new high point in the story.

The Wolf Among Us: A Crooked Mile isn't as interesting as episode two, but the undeniable charm of the world and the characters is still ever present. This series has not only inspired me to read the Fables comics line, but I'm also emotionally invested in practically all of the characters, and the wait between episodes has become almost unbearable. At this point it wouldn't be a bad decision to go all in if you were on the fence.

A Crooked Mile marks a strong midpoint in Bigby Wolf's magical dead hooker mystery tour. The writing keeps you on your toes and manages to evoke some pathos, even without any big twists to prop it up.

Detractors of the second episode are likely to get even more chirpy after playing 'A Crooked Mile,' but I completely welcome the well-focused story, investigative avenues, and the excising of the less compelling, enter a room and click things formula. Bigby and Fabletown have grown into vivid characters worth playing while the series seems to be subtly approaching a critical mass. While it would be luxurious if Telltale would spring for more music tracks and some achievement-worthy objectives, the hope has to be that the final two episodes of the series can maintain the high quality achieved in the second and third episodes.

The Wolf Among Us Episode 3: A Crooked Mile is probably the best in the series so far, managing to feature quite a few intense situations and fleshed out gameplay sequences. It also shows a bigger scope on the whole Fabletown murder mystery, so it's going to be interesting to see how it concludes in the next two parts.

Short yet sensationally bittersweet, A Crooked Mile puts The Wolf Among Us back on form. Expect powerful performances, perfect pacing, gutwrenching decisions and even more opportunities to define Bigby as a unique, charismatic and nuanced character. Outstanding - so here's hoping that the final two episodes can deliver.

It's no longer something that is inspiring great enthusiasm or excitement from me, but it's also not something I feel the need to abandon midway through.

I'm completely invested now. I worry about Bigby. I'm pointlessly going through the decisions he made, I made, attempting to figure out how they will change the way the rest of the fables' view their protector. But most of all I want to finish this case and catch whoever is responsible for this titanic mess, and then rip his limbs off. Bigby's indignation and quest for vengeance is infectious.

The mystery is what drives The Wolf Among Us, with the many colorful characters, suspects, and witnesses encountered along the way heightening the overall experience and imbuing it with undeniable style. But with a two-month layoff, the connections to Episode 2 will seem more tenuous than the storytellers would likely wish. So whether that means players should hold off to play the game through in one extended setting, or simply replay past chapters and refresh their memory, it shows just how distinct The Wolf Among Us is from its zombie colleague.

The Wolf Among Us continues to be Telltale's sharpest and most stylish series to date, with quick witted writing and a visual style which still seeks to impress… and does.  (Seriously, why aren't MORE high-def games cel shaded?  It looks really good!)  Add on to that impressive reveals and a mystery that's building up to something bigger, and it's safe to say that at this point, the whole season is definitely going to be worth following through to the end.

I'm perhaps not quite as in love with this series as I was after episode 1, but I badly want to find out what happens next, and I badly want to play episode 3 again to see what I might have missed.
