Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is a fantastic game that has received a well-deserved remaster. The game stays true to the original but includes quality-of-life updates that enhance the experience for both new and returning players. The only downside is that The Thousand-Year Door still features a lot of backtracking and unnecessarily long dialogues, but these issues are hardly noticeable due to the game's wonderful atmosphere and humor.

20 years after its release, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year remains a brilliant surprise: it's surprising how much its adventures differ from each other and from Mario's standards, it's surprising how impressive the combat is after so long, and it's surprising how the adventure is pure fun at every step. Well, not all of them; unfortunately, there are still a good dose of backtracking that hinders the campaign. But the truth is that in this remake, which brings a complete and beautiful audiovisual remodeling and countless adjustments to the experience, a measured cut of these time-wasters is the biggest shortcoming we can point out.

Nintendo continues to provide the opportunity for many players to experience its retro masterpieces in its library, and to make them more playable than ever before, and choosing The Thousand-Year Door among the entries of Paper Mario series was appropriate; Being one of the coolest spin-offs of the series, with its interesting story, creative and innovative art direction, it has made itself an unmissable experience for Super Mario fans.

Switch is now home to the definitive version of The Thousand-Year Door, and anyone interested in RPGs or Mario games who might've missed it over the years should definitely check it out to see why so many Paper Mario fans long for a return to this style of game.
I’ll never not love jumping into the great world of Mario and the adventures he finds himself on, and having played the original once before I loved being able to jump back into the adventure and play it and remember. I will be sinking more hours into this title as it’s super relaxing and you can play it from the comfort of the couch, or even in bed before you head to sleep.
I may have one or two complaints about the $60 pricetag, but at the end of the day, this is the ultimate version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. A magnificent gem half a dozen people played back on the Gamecube is now widely available on a more successful machine, with a handful of audiovisual improvements, whilst keeping that pristine combat system and gameplay loop intact. Whilst I wish there were more additions to this pricey remake/remaster (hell if I know how to label it), it’s exactly what I wanted.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake on Nintendo Switch is an utter joy to play and it's great to know Nintendo hasn't forgotten about this beloved series. The spruced-up presentation and bountiful quality-of-life improvements make this wonderful adventure even better than the top-notch original.
Still, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door’s remaster is an exceptional game, remaster, and tribute to a revered entry in a popular series. Sleeping on this entry, as an RPG fan, would be a big mistake.
While Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door has much to recommend it, especially for newcomers, in many ways it is a literal downgrade of a twenty-year-old classic.
As a part of JRPG Mario games, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door stands out as one of the best in the genre with its long-running adventure and enjoyable combat system.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door brings back a huge Nintendo classic in a respectable edition on Switch. The quality of life additions make the journey even more comfortable for those who are not used to RPGs. It's very easy to see why the title is remembered with such affection by fans, as it manages to offer everything that a good game of the genre needs to have, and the new edition is a good way to experience this.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door finally gets the modern upgrade it deserves on the Switch, packed with the same charm, inventive gameplay and enjoyable storytelling that you remember.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is a great remake that brings one of Nintendo's best RPGs to modern consoles. With a litany of new quality-of-life updates, great writing, an addicting combat system, intriguing characters, and a stunning world, The Thousand-Year Door is a near-perfect game, save for a few frame drops and the frustrating use of backtracking.
I have no doubt that if you loved Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door the first time around there’s nothing here that will detract from your memories – and if you’re looking to check the game out for the first time, it’s probably aged better than most of its contemporaries, the occasionally slow pacing aside.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is a game that offers a unique and engaging experience with its beautiful graphics, action-adventure gameplay, and variety of features. However, it does have some drawbacks such as a slow start and lack of guidance. But it is very easy to get past these and it is a game that will just take over as you will fall in love with the combat, the world, and will always want to see what is next.
The remake of the game successfully blends nostalgia with modern enhancements, offering a visually refreshed experience while maintaining the charm and essence of the original. Nintendo has managed to strike a delicate balance between paying homage to the beloved classic and introducing contemporary updates that appeal to both new players and long-time fans. I must admit that the Switch version not only meets but, in some aspects, exceeds the high standards set by its predecessor. While my nostalgia for the GameCube version remains strong, the Switch remake stands out as a remarkable achievement in its own right.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door on the Switch validates remasters, as it brings this fan favorite back to consoles with superb results.
I’ve long considered Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door to be a benchmark title for how to do a sequel well. TTYD built on a lot of the ideas that the first Paper Mario established in new and creative ways while staying true to what made the first game work. So I am excited to say that Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door on Switch lives up to the Gamecube’s TTYD in many ways, setting a benchmark of its own for how to make a very faithful remake while also playing up the game’s strengths. I’m hopeful that this game finds success alongside the Super Mario RPG remake and sends a message to Nintendo that there is still a place in the world of gaming for a true RPG experience starring the beloved plumber. If you own the original game, I would describe the two versions as generally comparable in overall quality. This remake adds even more personality and a few neat bonuses to an otherwise splendid game, but some performance issues hold it back from me giving it a perfect grade. If you want a more radically different remake, you won’t find it here, but what you will get is a lovingly made video game with many of the original version’s best attributes shining brighter than ever before. If you’ve never played The Thousand-Year Door in any form and you own a Switch, you owe it to yourself to play this gem of an RPG.
