Children of the Sun Reviews
As a whole, Children of the Sun’s explosions of violence pull us into The Girl’s quest for revenge, combining dome-blasting fun with action-puzzles that invite creativity. Equally important, the game’s aesthetic rips — its offputting art style, color choices, and unsavory elements, like the bliss The Girl takes from drilling holes in cultist skulls, driving home all the visceral details. While I wish this attention-grabbing EP had a few more tracks, what’s here lands with the impact of a hollow-point round.
Children of the Sun built upon some concepts from other first-person puzzle games, and came up with something charming and uniquely fun.
As macabre as it is, Children of the Sun's addictive leaderboard chase is sure to rekindle the competitive spirit in those who find themselves lapping up this world's darkness after having ventured heavenward in Neon White.
Children of the Sun is an incredibly vivid and creative puzzler-shooter. It is thoroughly engaging to find the perfect thread of headshots to line up, poking holes in a setpiece cultist encampment, linking each bloody kill to the next with both finesse and inventive solutions. It is quite simply the best sniping game I've ever played and, better yet, it has a story, vibes and atmosphere you just want to bathe in, much like the blood of your enemies. In the plethora of 'cool' video games to have graced our screens over the years, Children of the Sun is near the tippy top.
Children of the Sun definitely hits the target.

Children of the Son ingeniously combines sandbox levels, tactical planning, and puzzle-solving within the scope of a single sniper rifle to create a unique little gem of a game. However, it is limited to being a good concept and a short experience, struggling to sustain replayability or deeper exploration of its mechanics.

Children of the Sun is a dark, wonderfully innovative take on the now-cliched outpost clearing of many open-world games. It's incredibly satisfying when a plan all comes together and cultist after cultist falls to a perfectly executed series of meticulously aimed shots.
The puzzle-shooter gameplay and bizarre presentation of Children of the Sun make it utterly unique. And while your success in some levels unfortunately relies on trial and error, it doesn't stop it from being a highly rewarding experience on the whole.
Children of the Sun has style for sure, but at its core, it is a pretty uninspired puzzle.

Solo developer René Rother not only brought an innovative approach to sniper games, but also put it in a fun form. Don't forget to look right, then left when bending your bullet

Children of the Sun is a great video game, designed for players who want a hyper-violent revenge story that remixes puzzle and slow-motion mechanics in a unique way. The narrative is familiar but gripping, delivered in small chunks and with a distinctive style. The entire presentation communicates dread and determination.
Children of the Sun has a specific gimmick, and it absolutely nails it. It's a simple but engaging premise that remains fun throughout the entire runtime. It's not overly long, so it's short enough to finish in one sitting, but the potential for high score runs gives it some extra bite. Children of the Sun provides exactly what players want: the chance to play out the raw insanity of Wanted or Guardians of the Galaxy's Yondo, and it nails that concept perfectly.
Children of the Sun is a dark and engaging puzzle that successfully transports familiar mechanics into a fresh setting at the speed of a flying bullet.
Children of the Sun is a highly addictive puzzle game that cleverly pretends to be a shooter. A perfect production for those who prefer reflection to spectacular action. Developer René Rother has skilfully built the pace and tension within the game, even adopting divisive stylistic choices that help it stand out from the crowd.

This game isn’t just fun to play, it is engaging. It is addicting. I've been struggling a bit with how I feel about Balatro, because that game is massively addicting but without a driving “reason to play” that makes me feel good about the time I spend with it. Children of the Sun is nearly as addictive but is designed in a way where I always feel like I’m walking away from a session with new stories. Sometimes that’s the actual plot progression, but just as often it is my own story of figuring out how to solve a level in the most efficient way possible.
One playthrough of Children of the Sun is all you need to love the game. Like Hotline Miami a decade ago it stretches the limits of what a puzzler can be into some bloody places, and it pulls it off so well that you can’t help but enjoy every minute of it.
Accompanied by a dark atmosphere with an industrial soundtrack, Children of the Sun is an excellent indie title that doesn’t pull its punches.
Children of the Sun is a captivating videogame that with a mixture of somewhat disparate genres manages to make its way into the independent scene with a fresh and very original proposal. Devolver Digital once again proves that its aim is excessively remarkable to come up with titles that give a lot to talk about. Puzzles and shooting couldn't be better combined.

Children of the Sun is an interesting game that places its puzzle aspect at the forefront, delivering a satisfying loop of killing and moving on with simple and easy-to-pick-up gameplay. Understanding the concept is one thing, but finding the correct execution that leads to success is where the satisfaction lies. Some parts of Children of the Sun will require an insane amount of trial and error, and with the game offering virtually countless ways of approaching a level, creativity will be your only limit and a possible point of frustration.
Children of the Sun shoots you in the face with a style that is undeniable and makes this story of anger, violence, and revenge more beautiful than you could possibly imagine.
