Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is not a step forward in the saga, but it manages to make it catch its breath to some extent. A campaign that is the result of an accumulation of too many ideas that constantly succeeds and fails, a multiplayer not suitable for the faint of heart and tremendously addictive zombies make for a solid, but not memorable, delivery.

Despite these ever-growing microtransaction woes, Black Ops 6 is a step forward in other ways for a franchise that has felt half-dead for a while now. By combining an unexpectedly inventive campaign with some worthwhile changes and improvements to its multiplayer, there’s a lot here for longtime fans to feel optimistic about, even if many of Call of Duty’s most significant problems still loom large with no signs of changing anytime soon.

Treyarch took their time with Black Ops 6, and it shows as the franchise offers the best multiplayer and Zombies modes it has ever offered along with a narratively strong campaign that feels slightly disjointed at times, but overall solid.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a stellar addition to the franchise, with its multiplayer and zombies’ modes offering countless hours of entertainment. The game successfully combines smooth gameplay, strategic depth, and immersive storytelling, making it a must-play for fans and newcomers alike. Although the campaign has room for improvement when it comes to character development, it still provides a bombastic and thrilling narrative that complements the other modes. Overall, Black Ops 6 is a testament to the enduring appeal and continual innovation of the Call of Duty series.

All three pillars of Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies are among the best they've been in years. While some players might lament the addition of Omnimovement to the gunfights, there's a dynamic feel to the new mechanics that make Call of Duty feel more like a personal action movie.

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 turned out to be a very pleasant surprise in 2024. This is the first game of the series in recent years, which was developed thoroughly and expertly. As a result - the output is a really strong shooter.

Unpleasant menus aren't likely to hamper the experience entirely, though, so anyone with a passing appreciation for the series is likely to be content with Black Ops 6. Its protracted development cycle clearly paid off, but it also makes me wonder what kind of ambitious project the talent at Treyarch and Raven Software could concoct if it were unshackled from Call of Duty. Another year brings another iteration of gaming's FPS royalty, and perhaps more so than its relatives, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a rather convincing argument for why the series remains on top.

Following the launch woes of Modern Warfare 3, the FPS heavyweight series marks a very strong and impressive return to form in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Its single player campaign is one of the franchise's best-ever efforts, the multiplayer is jam-packed with engaging content, and the Zombies mode seems just as good as it always is when Treyarch is leading things. It never really went away, but Black Ops 6 feels like Call of Duty back at its modern peak.

Call of Duty is so back. A campaign that returns to form, the best multiplayer suite of the current console generation of COD's, and a chaotically fun Zombies mode. Black Ops 6 delivers in every way.

The fact that Black Ops 6 is the first Call of Duty under Microsoft's umbrella is not relevant to the good work that Activision has had in its development, which is rumored to be the longest of all the CoDs so far. Yes, it always has little things to criticize and many insist on magnifying them, but don't get carried away by those who don't want to have fun, this year everything works like a shot: The campaign, the multi and the zombies. And that, at least for me, for all the vice it is providing me via a simple subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

This is simply the best streaming microphone options on the market. Elgato has been a gold standard here, and the Wave:3 is a fantastic buy. Not only is it plug and play, but the microphone itself is S-tier, with clear comms lent to gaming and streaming alike. Between that and easy to use software, this is the Wave to ride.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is the best entry in the long-running franchise since 2019's Modern Warfare reboot. While omni-directional movement is likely going to become the new gold standard, the true highlight is one of Call of Duty's best, most inventive campaigns ever.
