An action game with a structure similar to Jedi: Fallen Order, spectacular setpieces similar to modern God of War and a difficulty similar to soulslike games. A fantastic adventure with minor annoyances, and one of the best games of the year.

Game Science Studio has created a work in Black Myth: Wukong that you can truly immerse yourself in for a long time and once again feel the magic of video games with all your being. Is Wukong a perfect game? Definitely not. The game has issues like frame drops, weak camera, and a not-so-interesting structure in the sixth chapter that leave their mark. But even with these problems, Wukong is still lovable. The game’s breathtaking and exciting actions are definitely among the best and turn every boss fight into an unforgettable battle. Beautiful graphics, music, and an interesting story complement the valuable gameplay and make it more worthy of respect. So, if you are a fan of action games, you should not miss Black Myth: Wukong and deprive yourself of its pleasure.

Black Myth: Wukong might have just created its own genre, by leaning heavily on tough boss fights while maintaining the fun elements of a more casual action RPG with unprecedented variety in both enemies and bosses. It is one of, if not the, best game of 2024.

Although Black Myth: Wukong is an uneven game, its strong points overshadow the negatives. It is an intense combat experience that shines brightest during numerous and challenging boss fights. However, the level design leaves much to be desired due to its clumsiness and lack of inspiration, which sharply cuts off the feeling of exploration. Despite all this, it is a challenging and recommendable game for its unique Eastern flavor.

After all those years of waiting, Black Myth: Wukong is a very good adventure game. Using a setting that rarely gets seen in the Western world makes the game intriguing, and that's strengthened when you discover all of the character background stories. The combat is just as varied as the environments you traverse, and while the game isn't as masochistic as other modern action games, it is difficult enough that a little patience and planning will still take you a long way in skirmishes. The presentation is amazing, but it stresses out even the best hardware at the moment. To optimize the gorgeous graphics in Black Myth, players need beefy hardware that can take advantage of various upscaling technologies. It is a worthy pick-up for patient adventure fans, and the title will keep players busy for quite some time.

Black Myth: Wukong uses the wonderful canvas of Chinese mythology to draw you into its world that is both beautiful and dangerous. Struggling at times to fully tell its story, its narrative mostly gives the game structure while leaving out a lot of detailed substance hoping for you to somehow make it make sense. Sure, the game’s emphasis is combat, but for a soulslike game that looks this beautiful and has so much lore attached to it, you would hope it also spent more time focusing on its story.

Black Myth: Wukong is an amazing and impressive debut effort from Game Science, and while it has a few missteps, it lives up to the hype. From the gorgeous visuals to the dynamic and intense combat system, few games can replicate the satisfying feeling of conquering a challenging boss, only to face another one a few moments later. Interestingly, the game can be played on the Steam Deck, but there are concessions you'll have to make, especially in the visual department. You're losing out on a huge chunk of the experience because the game is gorgeous, but it's better than not getting to play it on the go, which in itself is a remarkable feat.

Black Myth: Wukong is based on The Journey to the West and discusses a very interesting Chinese mythology. Despite the developer saying that it is not a soulslike game, Black Myth: Wukong definitely feels like one. Graphically, the game looks fantastic with beautiful environments and fun dialogues. In terms of gameplay, it can be quite frustrating at times and you just have to be prepared to defeat bosses in a rapid pace without any time to catch your breath. Despite this, Black Myth: Wukong is a fantastic game that you should definitely play.

"Black Myth: Wukong marks Game Science Studio's impressive debut, solidifying China's place in the narrative-driven gaming landscape. This captivating title offers a rich tapestry of storytelling, immersive gameplay, and stunning visuals. From challenging boss battles and addictive combat to a 50-hour, non-repeating adventure, Black Myth is a must-play for fans of epic tales. However, some players may encounter minor technical hiccups, such as frame drops and invisible walls, and might find the main character's silence during crucial story moments a bit off-putting. Despite these minor flaws, Black Myth: Wukong is a remarkable achievement that sets a new standard for Chinese game development."

Statistically Black Myth: Wukon is a phenomenon of 2024. The game breaks online records and demonstrates the power of Chinese game development. The main thing is not to expect something brilliant from it and forgive the flaws - then you will have a great time.

Black Myth: Wukong is a technical feat that deserves attention. Not only does it deliver on outstanding graphical settings, it also sends players to different locations and environments that all look just as stunning as the last. Combat is the main focus of the game, and it proves to be as responsive as any game I’ve played. Combat feels like a worthy challenge, but sometimes the challenge seems a little too much to handle. This feeling is where the game really shines, because it forces players to find a strategy that will work. That is the beauty of the game. The challenge makes players think, strategize, and sometimes level up some additional skills to help in the upcoming battle.

Black Myth: Wukong delivers incredible boss fight with stunning visuals, but the in-between moments don't reach the same heights. Technical hiccups and poor level design hold it back for greatness, but the boss battles make it all worthwhile.

Black Myth: Wukong delivers a visually stunning action-packed adventure deeply rooted in Chinese mythology. While the combat system is engaging and the world is expansive, the game is hindered by a disjointed narrative and repetitive environments. Players looking for a challenging action experience will find much to enjoy, but the lack of a cohesive story and navigational tools may detract from the overall enjoyment. Despite its flaws, Black Myth: Wukong stands as a unique and ambitious title that is worth experiencing.

Black Myth: Wukong is a perfect video game representation of the concept of Yin and Yang. For every element that amazes the player, there is an equally opposite one that brings them back down to earth. Nevertheless, this is an excellent debut for Game Science in the realm of AAA titles, as well as a well-crafted and enjoyable action game that can captivate and engross players for dozens of hours. Familiarity with "Journey to the West," the work that inspired it, allows one to appreciate the many nuances that show the developers' love for the original material. However, even without knowing the story of Sun Wukong, Game Science’s work is a title we recommend to anyone who enjoys action RPGs with a strong narrative component.

Black Myth: Wukong aims to present the classic story of Journey to the West in a more understandable and interactive way. The cutscenes found in each part of the game are fantastic, but traditional and mythological elements are sometimes presented in lengthy texts. The visual quality and boss variety is one of the strongest aspects of the game. Therefore, players looking for impressive boss battles will definitely be satisfied. It may take some patience to find the rhythm of Black Myth: Wukong.
