Black Myth: Wukong Reviews
Black Myth: Wukong is a game stuck between wanting to be a Souls-like and a casual action game. It's a mostly enjoyable time hindered by some frustrating elements, but the love and appreciation for the source material is what shines through the most.
The bottom line is this: adjust your expectations about Black Myth Wukong as a proper Soulslike, and jump on in if its setting and mythos interests you.
Black Myth: Wukong delivers breathtaking combat, stellar production quality, and unforgettable boss fights. Its few quirks don't hold it back from being one of the genre's best games in recent memory.
Though a mere optimisation and balance patch from meeting its full ambition, Black Myth: Wukong is a really great action RPG, almost standing as high as the rest. The story and world of Journey to the West and all its mythos translate incredibly well into an action game, providing immensely captivating creature and enemy boss designs and encounters. Serving as one of the most demanding games of its ilk for a while, both graphically and in combat challenge, you'll be well vested in Black Myth's world as you crush powerful mythic beasts wherever you go with fantastical magical abilities. This journey to the west is a journey well worth the wait.
Black Myth: Wukong masterfully takes what makes a good Soulslike tick without selling its own soul, delivering what is the best action game of the year.
Statistically Black Myth: Wukon is a phenomenon of 2024. The game breaks online records and demonstrates the power of Chinese game development. The main thing is not to expect something brilliant from it and forgive the flaws - then you will have a great time.
Black Myth: Wukong captures attention with its impressive graphics and the allure of Chinese mythology, but despite the visual experience and a promising combat system, the game suffers from several issues that prevent it from excelling.

Although Black Myth: Wukong's art and performances are world-class, the gameplay and action system are solid and interesting, and the content is abundant, its narrative and artistic expression are unique to players in East Asian cultures.

Black Myth: Wukong is full of unique ideas and just as many missed opportunities.
There was talk of a Chinese blowout, and we got a piece of decent title. Although it's a shame that the developers weren't bolder and didn't break the chains of soulslike inspirations.

A spectacle like Black Myth: Wukong happens once per videogame generation. This epic anthropomorphic adventure of the Monkey King is a true labour of love, that presents grand story, wonderfully authentic soundtrack, addictively punchy combat and does the whole videogame process a bit differently. It is full of surprises, excruciatingly hard bosses and it just simply looks amazing. Few downsides and tiny imperfections can't really ruin this almost perfect experience, that makes you want to stay for just one more try!

Black Myth: Wukong may look like another soulslike on the surface, but in truth, it is a fantastic action RPG with great boss battles, memorable characters, and my favourite mechanic of the year so far, Transformations. You can be a rock with legs!
Black Myth: Wukong makes use of a great literary work to create one of the best settings inspired by Chinese culture. Although there are still technical problems in the PlayStation 5 version, those who manage to overcome them will be facing a game full of combat alternatives and with great boss fights. For fans of action RPGs, Black Myth: Wukong is a must-have.

An action game with a structure similar to Jedi: Fallen Order, spectacular setpieces similar to modern God of War and a difficulty similar to soulslike games. A fantastic adventure with minor annoyances, and one of the best games of the year.

Game Science Studio has created a work in Black Myth: Wukong that you can truly immerse yourself in for a long time and once again feel the magic of video games with all your being. Is Wukong a perfect game? Definitely not. The game has issues like frame drops, weak camera, and a not-so-interesting structure in the sixth chapter that leave their mark. But even with these problems, Wukong is still lovable. The game’s breathtaking and exciting actions are definitely among the best and turn every boss fight into an unforgettable battle. Beautiful graphics, music, and an interesting story complement the valuable gameplay and make it more worthy of respect. So, if you are a fan of action games, you should not miss Black Myth: Wukong and deprive yourself of its pleasure.

Black Myth: Wukong might have just created its own genre, by leaning heavily on tough boss fights while maintaining the fun elements of a more casual action RPG with unprecedented variety in both enemies and bosses. It is one of, if not the, best game of 2024.

Although Black Myth: Wukong is an uneven game, its strong points overshadow the negatives. It is an intense combat experience that shines brightest during numerous and challenging boss fights. However, the level design leaves much to be desired due to its clumsiness and lack of inspiration, which sharply cuts off the feeling of exploration. Despite all this, it is a challenging and recommendable game for its unique Eastern flavor.
