Alien: Rogue Incursion's miserable second half ruins what would have otherwise been a solid virtual reality gaming experience.

Games from the Alien movie series tend to be hit and miss, but when they hit, they really hit. Alien: Rogue Incursion improves on the experience from the legendary Alien: Isolation. Rogue Incursion offers more of a traditional survival horror design thanks to its pacing, ammo conservation, puzzle solving and atmosphere. The pacing is what dictates this game, and while there may not be a ton of enemies on screen at once, it's about being enthralled in the position of a facility overtaken by Xenomorphs. Rogue Incursion isn't about mowing down enemies, it's about the unknown and the fact that the controls work flawlessly and minimal damage can be taken on Zula, Alien: Rogue Incursion is the first true survival horror game designed specifically for virtual reality. More importantly, for those Alien fans that have access to VR, this is the game to experience.

It takes courage to immerse yourself in an Alien experience in VR, but if that's your "droja", you'll have a great time with an atmosphere and development that do total justice to the franchise.

I really wanted Alien: Rogue Incursion to be good and it starts so well, but then things just fall apart. There are many bad design decisions in the game so that you feel like you are fighting them rather than the Xenomorphs.

The vibes are right, the story is good, the graphic are fun, the sound effects are amazing, and the Xenomorphs are legit frightening. But all of that is almost undone by an antiquated save system, which combines with bugs to strand the player in frustrating gameplay loops. As a franchise fan, I would still play this game. But Xenomorphs aren't the only bugs you're going to be fighting.

With a handful of bugs to iron out, Alien: Rogue Incursion isn't quite a "perfect organism", but it is a creepy good time with compelling performances and a great use of virtual reality.

Upfront, Alien: Rogue Incursion delivers exactly what you’d want from an Aliens-inspired VR game: the horror of being chased by these iconic movie monsters and the thrill of blasting them into green goo with your Pulse Rifle. But while this mission starts strong, it eventually spins its wheels, stretching out the experience for too long before ending on a disappointing cliffhanger—while it isn’t specified in the title, this is actually only Alien: Rogue Incursion Part One, with Part Two still on the way. Add in lots of technical issues and a huge accessibility shortcoming in not having teleportation movement options for people prone to motion sickness, and you have a much rockier ride than it initially appeared. With its high highs and low lows, Rogue Incursion is a little too accurate a microcosm of the Alien experience.

Alien: Rogue Incursion blends stealth, horror and action to deliver an immersive and satisfying VR experience. While the dynamic Xenomorph AI will keep players on edge for the entirety of its runtime, some of the objective variety can be lacking. Regardless, the games and balance between Alien's horror and Aliens' action make it an engaging Alien experience from beginning to end. While Rogue Incursion may not reach Isolation's heights, it's an impressive, atmospheric ride with a gripping cliffhanger that leaves me eager for Part 2.

Alien: Rogue Incursion sets the bar for a great Alien VR experience. Gunning down Xenos has never been so satisfying. With the eerie corners of the facility and its visuals, the exhilarating M41A Pulse Rifle, and the sound design that respects its source material, it's what every Alien fan has been waiting for -- an authentic Alien VR experience.

Alien: Rogue Incursion makes for an excellent VR horror game that successfully delivers the series’ best scares through a whole new perspective. It works and it is incredibly fun to play. With Alien: Rogue Incursion, Survios once again showcases their expertise in creating engaging virtual experiences. Opting for a more action-focused approach rather than the stealth of Isolation, they successfully capture the essence of exploration and the franchise's tense atmosphere. Fans will enjoy Zula Hendricks' adventure in the claustrophobic environments of the Cradle of Castor, filled with elements that make the iconic xenomorph so captivating. The game is exciting and fun, though it has some coding issues and a somewhat repetitive final segment. Otherwise, it's a must-play for fans who love the thrill of space horror.

I like every part of Alien: Rogue Incursion except for the most important one, the combat. It looks amazing, sounds great, and has a solid story. I am sad to say that I found said combat, and how often it was forced upon me, to make the game tough to recommend at launch.  Not only that, but this is a ‘surprise’ Part One. At $40 I hope that the full package, many patches later, can find the brilliance that’s hidden underneath this game’s faults.
