The Precinct Reviews
The Precinct's combination of action and simulation is engaging to begin with, but the tedium soon sets in, leaving you feeling like you're processing paperwork more than capturing criminals.
While not perfect in execution, The Precinct's boldness in tackling so many different aspects of police work needs to be admired. Averno City is a fun sandbox to cause chaos in with so many hilarious criminal encounters. It adds onto that fun with an interesting story and in depth simulator-esque gameplay system that engaged me throughout my 10 hour runtime.
It's a video game that promised to put us in the shoes of a street cop in the 80s and, even if it doesn't excel, its mission is definitely accomplished.

If you've been searching for a truly unique police game, The Precinct might be exactly what you're looking for. It draws inspiration from some of the biggest names in the industry but combines those ideas in a way that doesn't feel like a mere copy. Instead, it delivers a fresh, innovative, and engaging experience.

If you're not bothered by the repetitive nature of a simulation game and think, "I can roleplay as a cop for hours without getting bored," then you'll probably enjoy the game. It offers a much better experience than the so-called “cash grab games” on Steam. However, if you're someone who cares more about story and is looking for fun gameplay mechanics, you're likely to be disappointed.

A decent cop simulator that slightly lacks variety. Despite its flaws, you'll sometimes want to return to it to catch criminals and decide their fates.

If you fancy fighting crime in an open world instead of perpetrating it for a change, The Precinct might just be the game for you. Completing shifts and collecting evidence to progress the story forward can become a little repetitive, but ultimately you're free to take things at your own pace while unlocking new options and equipment to play with.
The Precinct is a fun game that puts you in shoes of an police officer against corruption and crime. While it has some strong points like beautiful nights, a good atmosphere, and a trip to the 80s, The Precinct suffers from some problems like annoying bugs, dull days, and unstable AI. If you can overlook these problems, you will enjoy this nonetheless.

The Precinct may not live up to the expectations of those who expect the madness of classic GTA from the point of view of the cops, nor of those who believe it to be just a bureaucratic simulator of police life. Finding a new, immersive and fun place between these two aspects, the game is surprisingly diverse in gameplay and carries with it the heritage of tone of the good buddy cop movies of the 1980s and 1990s.

Much like the 80s cop movies of yesteryear, The Precinct a little rough around the edges, but also a lot of fun for those looking to hit the streets and deal with criminal scum. Although, honestly, just giving out parking tickets is surprisingly satisfying.
A city in the style of a classic GTA game needs the hand of the law - you. You protect it with a police badge on your chest, a penalty block, a gun and your foot on the accelerator. The activities are varied, the size of the city is more modest, characters and cars sometimes get stuck.

A competent open world action game that answers how fun it would be to be a cop in a gta like game. The answer? Pretty fun.

The Precinct offers an interesting police story riddled with clichés, good times, and a desire to do things right.

From its overarching campaign where you try to take down crime lords to its day-to-day patrolling, there's a lot to love about The Precinct. 🚔
The Precinct is an interesting mix of playstyles and routines to give some depth to its police procedural adventure.
The Precinct has the potential to be great as a view into the other side of things if you're a GTA fan, but that would all depend on whether you can look past some of the issues. It’s worth a play if you're ever curious to see what the cop life is like.
The Precinct delivers an immersive police experience, full of action, surprises, and challenges faced during patrols, but with some big flaws. The gameplay becomes repetitive pretty quickly and the artificial intelligence of our patrol companion doesnt work like it should, creating some issues.

The Precinct is almost exactly the game that I hoped would follow up American Fugitive, it’s got an effortlessly cool vibe, almost nails the balance of gameplay with the heavy arcade action sprinkled tastefully with a soupcon of RPG and simulation elements that keep things exciting and offer depth without feeling overwhelming. Whilst some may find the pretty constant arrests and surprisingly pacey gameplay a little repetitive, it makes the game great from a pick-up-and-play point of view, and the snappy procedural mechanics quite frankly put some other games in the same genre to shame. Right, I’m off the clean up the streets of Averno City!
If some clunky mechanics don’t bother you and the more mundane aspects of police work get you excited, The Precinct might be the game for you. Working best when it leans into its ’80s cop movie aesthetics, this title can feel more like a promise of something great at times, but for the right audience is definitely going to feel like a refreshing and exciting entry into a decidedly small genre.
There’s a solid foundation here, one that clearly draws from the developer’s past work in American Fugitive, but also pushes into new territory. It’s an ambitious mix of sandbox action and police procedure, and while it often stumbles (especially with its NPC AI and car handling), it also manages to hold your attention with its vibrant world and constant activity.
