Neon Inferno is a neon-soaked cyberpunk run-and-gun indie game with stylish pixel art, layered shooting mechanics, and slow-motion blade deflections. Its steep difficulty and occasional performance drops can cause players to groan. Despite its rough edges, the game delivers a fast and flashy burst of entertainment.

Neon Inferno has the hallmarks of a classic ’90s side-scroller while still feeling like a modern game. Its story and visual design carry familiar echoes of that era.

Like an arcade cabinet on fire, thrilling, messy, and you’ll probably lose a few credits along the way. Neon Inferno blazes with style and arcade nostalgia, its layered shooting and wild spectacle impossible to ignore. Yet restrictive movement, punishing checkpoints, and uneven co‑op keep the chaos from always feeling fair. It’s a fiery ride that dazzles as often as it frustrates.

Neon Inferno is inspired by classic run 'n gun games, offering a less frantic pace than arcade games to accommodate newcomers. The adventure doesn't last long, but the real challenge lies in completing it at increasingly higher difficulty levels. Will you be able to do it?

Another one for the homage pile, Neon Inferno fits neatly into the retro-inspired category with aplomb. Offering challenge to those that want it, as well as a story-focus for those that don't, there's enough here for both the old and new school. In a time of over-complication, this is a reminder of the inherent fun in the simple. With lovely visuals and a banging soundtrack too.

Neon Inferno delivers exactly what it sets out to: a stylish, frantic, and super satisfying throwback to the run-and-gunners of the older days that’s more than just another nostalgia trip. Its clever mechanics, gorgeous presentation, and relentless energy make it hard to put down, and whilst the difficulty spikes and occasionally overwhelming visuals won’t suit everyone, fans of the genre (or anyone craving a modern spin on classic run-and-gun chaos) will have an absolute blast with the game.

What excited me most about Neon Inferno was noticing the balance between the retro visuals and modern mechanics, the fluidity of the gameplay, and the layers of scenery, all without lagging or showing any noticeable flaws.

An old-school Run 'n' Gun with a few modern touches, Neon Inferno is a small dose of adrenaline and nostalgia, the kind we need to take us back to a time when everything was simpler and carefree.

Neon Inferno delivers exactly what it promises: fast-paced action, stylish visuals, and gameplay that blends intense gunfights with strategic moments, thanks to its shift between perspectives and projectile deflections. The bosses are memorable, the variety of situations keeps the pace engaging, and the cyberpunk setting adds the final touch. However, it remains a short and simple experience, more notable for its stylish intensity than depth. Like a modern arcade session, it offers an hour of frantic fun. While not particularly memorable, it’s a game that justifies the time spent—quick, straightforward, and full of personality.

Neon Inferno is one of those games that hooks you from the first minute and doesn't let go. Everything is designed to make each game intense and challenging, yet fair. Its mechanics and levels force you to be constantly alert, and although you might miss having some extras or additional modes—beyond Arcade and Replay modes—what it offers works wonderfully. In the end, surviving each mission and feeling like you've mastered its mechanics is a satisfaction that more than makes up for any minor flaws.

Neon Inferno is a vibrant throwback to the classic run-and-gun shooters that defined the '80s and '90s. While it perfectly captures the nostalgia one might crave, the unique shooting gallery mechanics put a fun spin on the genre, and it is an absolute joy to play—if you can handle the difficulty.

Neon Inferno is a fantastic arcade-style title with beautiful pixel-art that will delight players who focus on replaying a game until they perfect it, while for everyone else it will be a brief but entertaining distraction.

Neon Inferno, despite its throwaway title, is a throwback to some of the best games of all time. It simply feels great to control, and while two-player can get a bit hectic, given the size of the sprites, it still is a fantastic hour and change to experience, even if the rating economy can hold back some of the additional weaponry you can bring into combat. Regardless, when it comes to the Shoot’em Up genre, Neon Inferno is a solid addition and was simply a blast to play.

Neon Inferno is an excellent game which offers a nice unique twist on the 2D run and gun genre. The mix of both genres works out surprisingly well. The game will keep players on their toes with its addictive and solid gameplay. The different levels of difficulty will keep players busy for sometime. While there are some minor nuisances such as too much at once and not buying able to move while shooting in the background, these things are easy to adapt to and are parts of the game’s charm. Neon Inferno is one of the best games I’ve played in recent memory and deserves your time and money. Don’t believe me? Try the demo for yourself.

I actually have very little to complain about Neon Inferno. It’s just an incredibly well-crafted action platformer with amazing visuals, great controls, a tough-but-fair level of difficulty, and some visceral setpieces. Even if cyberpunk games just don’t impress me as much as they used to nowadays, this little gem stands out by simply being one of the most entertaining action platformers I’ve seen in a while.
