Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World is just more Kirby. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing is up to you and how much you liked the base game.

The Switch 2 upgrade of Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a beautifully crafted 3D platformer that brings a familiar, yet fresh, adventure for the pink puffball. The new edition enhances the experience with improved graphics, a smoother 60fps framerate, and the addition of the Star-Crossed World DLC. While the core gameplay of sucking up enemies and objects with Kirby's iconic "Mouthful Mode" remains a constant delight, the game's overall simplicity and the safe nature of the new content might leave veteran gamers wanting more.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World is some of the most fun you can have on Nintendo Switch 2, but even with the justification that you might want to return to the game or replay it on Nintendo Switch 2, the high price makes this a game you will probably spend more than you'd like on.

The main game is still a delight, and the upgraded visuals really make it enjoyable.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World brings the full original adventure with sharper visuals and smoother performance on Nintendo Switch 2. The Star-Crossed World expansion adds 12 remixed levels, new Mouthful transformations, and tougher bosses that give returning fans plenty to enjoy. Some recycled content holds it back from feeling brand new, but the mix of upgrades and fresh challenges makes it rewarding for those who already loved Kirby’s 3D debut.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World is familiar, cozy, and just a little shinier than before. The upgrade smooths out performance, makes those transformations pop, and wraps everything in an extra layer of polish with a bonus adventure that’s light but worth a spin. It’s not rewriting the Kirby playbook or flexing the Switch 2’s muscles in a big way, but honestly? It doesn’t need to. For anyone chasing colorful worlds, hidden goodies, and that classic Kirby charm, this is still one of the pink puffball’s best adventures.

At roughly three to four hours long, depending on your playstyle and skill level, the scope of the new content is also appropriate. Therefore, we're giving it a slightly higher rating than the original Switch version. It remains a truly enjoyable, feel-good platformer—but ultimately, the Switch 2 version doesn't quite deliver a massive leap forward in gameplay.

This delightful upgrade more than justifies the extra cost of the Switch 2 Edition.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land + The Star Shard World for the Switch 2 is still one of the best games in the series and now even comes with a bit of extra content. However, The Star Shard World doesn’t reinvent the wheel; instead, it offers a very well-made level pack that’s fair enough as a €20 upgrade version. But offering the complete package in the eShop for €80, in our opinion, goes beyond what a game should cost three years after its release.

Not only does it upgrade the base game for the Switch 2, which is one of the best Kirby games already, but it also adds a fun and out-of-this-world expansion filled with fun powers and tons of Kirby charm. The Star-Crossed World expansion adds new and exciting levels filled with new enemies and new items Kirby can use to save the world from the encroaching darkness. It also looks incredible on the Switch 2, propping the latest Nintendo console against a stable of back-to-back incredible launch titles.
