Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is a great collection of classic games. There are some notable absences, and the online experience is currently lacking. Input lag on the PS5 is also problematic. The fact that the price is very high on the Brazilian PS Store is undoubtedly a critical issue. However, these are all points that can be remedied through updates, which we hope will happen. If not, it's worth grabbing on sale to satisfy your nostalgia.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is a worthy tribute to the iconic franchise, blending games, archival footage, and history into a cohesive interactive documentary. However, it feels incomplete ' some key titles and features are missing, and the historical coverage ends too soon.

An amazing documentary with a good selection of games that could use some further tweaking.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is the most polarising Digital Eclipse museum experience so far, in terms of the quality of the games that are in it to play, I also think that it’s one of the most compelling experiences from a historical perspective.

As a collection of games, Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection isn't all that impressive, with many of the titles here either being downright bad or relatively redundant. As an interactive documentary, however, Digital Eclipse has delivered something rather special for Mortal Kombat fans eager to reminisce and learn more about the franchise.

Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection features an absolutely absurd amount of content, both when it comes to the games you can play and the documentary included as well. I’d have loved to see a bit more about what the Mortal Kombat team was going through during the tail end of the 90s, and there are certainly a few gaps when it comes to the games included that would be great to see filled in. Still, fans of the series will find that Digital Eclipse has made yet another great collection that entertains and educates in equal measure.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is an extremely competent product (I dare say even more so than the franchise's latest titles, which currently desperately needs to maintain its relevance). Sure, certain missing titles and some silly performance errors cause some slip-ups during the fight, but in the end, it emerges victorious in this combat.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection could have offered more new features and improvements because – as much as it pains me to say this – it's a product of its time. The game emulation has some technical problems that can be fixed in the long term, as does the online mode, which was what disappointed me most in this game. The choice of titles could also have been more selective and robust. But, given the problems I faced, in the end, the high point of this collection, at least for now, is the fact that it's a kind of interactive documentary. And, for me, that's perfectly fine!

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is a loving tribute to the franchise’s classic era, bundling 11 nostalgic titles alongside a surprisingly rich interactive documentary. The historical context, visual archive, and new features like online play and fatality training elevate the package as a preservation effort. Unfortunately, input lag and online instability weaken the gameplay experience, especially in a genre where precision is everything. It’s a meaningful collection for fans and historians, but its technical issues hold it back from being a flawless victory.

As a collection of iconic titles through the early years of Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is a great package. It has some curious omissions such as Mortal Kombat Gold or Digital Eclipse’s own Gameboy Color port of Mortal Kombat 4, but all in all, there is enough here for any fan or curious fighter to get stuck into and find their new or old favorite death match. As an online competitive fighter, it’s an unacceptable release. The lack of basic features such as lobbies and crossplay really hampers what could have been the definitive way to play these titles. As it stands, it may be the only way to play most of these online with other people, but it’s a far cry from what fans of the franchise wanted. Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection as a Kollection is great, well worth the asking price and time for any fans of the legendary tournament. With patches in the horizon, I can only hope this game ends up a true champion, but if you don’t have much of an interest in the history or preservation of the series, it comes off as a chump.

The selection of titles and the documentary aspect of Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection do an excellent job of showing why ripping off heads and throwing opponents into pools of acid has been so much fun for 30 years, even with some absences from the list. However, there are still many issues to be addressed, especially in online performance, which should be the main attraction of the collection.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is a not just massive collection of games, but a historic gallery of days past! This is ultimately one of the best video game collections I have seen created. With unlocked secrets, new behind-the-scenes footage, twenty three playable games, and more.

Digital Eclipse, again, did what it does best, by combining great production, a profound interactive timeline and a greatly curated set of Mortal Kombat games. It’s a near triple-flawless victory. Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection celebrates every era of the series with the same punch and personality that made it legendary, blending gameplay and documentary storytelling into one cohesive experience. If Digital Eclipse can patch in the few missing ports and expand on Mortal Kombat 4 (maybe even add Mortal Kombat Gold) this could easily become the first collection of its kind worthy of a perfect 10 out of 10.

The sheer number of games included in tandem with their now trademark storytelling approach makes this an easy recommend for me. While not every game here is a winner, the documentary portion once again steals the show.

In the state that the game currently sits, it is a hard justification to dive into if you already own the titles on other systems. But if you are a newer fan or want to enjoy it on modern systems, it’s the best option.

Whether you’re a longtime fan of Mortal Kombat, or you are just getting into the series via its modern versions, Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection is a great way to experience the series’ formative era on modern platforms. It isn’t a complete collection, but it does hit all the landmark titles of the series’ growing phase.
