The Claws of Awaji doesn't add anything exciting to Assassin's Creed Shadows, but it's still fun to explore a new region and stab people.

Claws of Awaji has most of the same pluses of Assassin's Creed Shadows, but also the same problems.

Does Claws of Awaji finally provide a more fitting ending to Assassin's Creed: Shadows? Kind of. In an irritating and distinctively Ubisoft way, enough is left open to require at least another dose of DLC. Still, if you really haven't had too much of a good thing, that's certainly no bad thing.

The effort put into giving personality to the main duels and providing ideas is noticeable, even if it feels like more of the same in between. It's definitely worth your time if you got it for free. If you have to pay 25 euros more... maybe it's better to wait for a sale.

It’s a bit disappointing that Yasuke gets no new weapons and that the basic mission design remains relatively unchanged. It’s also a shame that Awaji Island and its enemies are gated from all but endgame players. However, for anyone frustrated by Shadows’ inconclusive finale, Claws of Awaji will bring some much-needed closure in DLC that rewards committed players.

Claws of Awaji is a decent expansion, but outside of some cool story moments, it never really elevates itself beyond the base game. There was room for improvement here, in Shadows' stunted combat and stealth mechanics, and its open world structure, but ultimately, the DLC plays it very safe — for better or worse.

The Claws of Awaji expansion offers plenty of new content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows and satisfyingly wraps up the cliffhanger in Naoe’s story that was hinted at the end of the base game. The expansion’s pacing with Yasuke is better, too, but it’s a shame that he didn’t get a new weapon while Naoe did. Still, Claws of Awaji is a worthy send off to two of the best Assassin’s Creed characters in recent memory.

he Claws of Awaji is a DLC that reflects both the strengths and weaknesses of Assassin's Creed Shadows: some narrative elements are interesting, but the story ends without much excitement, nor does it sufficiently delve into the renewed conflict between Assassins and Templars.

Claws of Awaji is more of the base AC Shadows game. A beautiful world whose open storytelling style does far more to hurt than help, while the new weapon and one of the boss fights are a nice positive, the rest spends too much time being bland or getting in it's own way.

Assassin's Creed Shadow: Claws of Awaji feels like an excellent refinement of the base game with a small but dense new island, more focused story, and most of the fat from the base game trimmed out.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Claws of Awaji has proven to be a very pleasant surprise. Even though it doesn't contain anything truly groundbreaking, it succeeds in what it sets out to do.

Ubisoft has brought the first, more realistic and dramatic DLC to the story of Nao and Yasuke in Claws of Awaji. You get a new small island with a short side story, a few nice missions and a new weapon. It's just a very basic content offer for the expansion and the whole thing sounds so much poorer in terms of story.

The supposedly open ending of Assassin's Creed Shadows' main campaign actually made some sense, as it was a way for Ubisoft to make it clear that the game has a long life ahead of it, both narratively and regarding the ongoing support updates. In Claws of Awaji, however, this vagueness felt a bit mocking. Even so, while the island of Awaji itself doesn't offer inviting elements, the DLC isn't entirely bad, as the inclusion of the staff, the straightforward mission progression, and the boss fights manage to add value to the overall experience.

Claws of Awaji doesn’t push Assassin’s Creed Shadows into bold new territory, but it doesn’t need to. By sharpening combat, making fun inclusions across the board, and tying up the main story’s loose ends, it gives players a rewarding reason to return to Naoe and Yasuke’s dangerous adventure. Awaji may feel familiar at times (and Yasuke fans may be disappointed that he takes a back seat to Naoe), but the expansion still manages to add a tense and satisfying chapter to Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

It may not be one of the best expansions the series has seen, but Assassin's Creed Shadows: Claws of Awaji still has some neat ideas that make it worth playing.

"A perfect sequel to a good game Despite being short." Claws of Awaji provides a complete DLC experience for Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, with a story that continues Naoe and Yasuke’s adventure, rich tactical combat with the Bo Staff, and a mix of stealth and strategic encounters. Stunning graphics, stable performance, and immersive audio make exploration and encounters enjoyable and tense. Despite some limitations, such as the limited playtime,

The Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Claws of Awaji add-on offers a short and straightforward story that answers some lingering questions, but it brings no real innovation in terms of gameplay or content. On the contrary, it suffers from downgraded graphics and weak sound design, while insisting on pushing the player toward combat rather than stealth, resulting in an average experience that falls short of expectations.

Claws of Awaji doesn't introduce anything new to the already terrific Shadows, but it is more Assassin's Creed, and that's just enough to warrant a second look.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Claws of Awaji is a huge disappointment. The map is practically identical, filled with the same activities we already know, and we run across it guided by a story that uses the very same motives and scenes we encountered in the base game. Is this an expansion aimed at the most die-hard fans of the series? Ubisoft — is that really all you’ve got?

Claws of Awaji is a short but delightful expansion that partially addresses the shortcomings of the main game, though there’s still plenty of room for improvement.
