Marvel’s Cosmic Invasion is a chaotic, colourful beat-’em-up where you tag between Marvel heroes mid-combo, smash cosmic bugs and cause delicious pixel mayhem. It’s fast, fun, gorgeous – and might just be Tribute Games’ best brawler yet.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion demonstrates that Tribute Games excels at creating beat 'em up games, matching the quality of their previous titles. Enemies can get dull after a certain point, levels feel too short, and multiplayer is by far the game's best experience.

Yet another great beat 'em up by DotEmu and a special dose of nostalgia for Marvel fans. Its only drawback is its relatively short length.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion brings the House of Ideas’ heroes together in a colorful but far from uncanny beat ‘em up experience.

Developer Tribute Games, which accomplished a similar feat with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge in 2023, has brought that classic approach beautifully into the modern gaming space in a way that feels authentic to the past without being beholden to it.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a solid brawler that continues Dotemu’s streak of great games, but it's one for hardcore Marvel fans only. PC version reviewed. Review copy provided by company for testing purposes.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion is an easy recommendation to fans of the genre and the characters themselves. While additional characters being added via DLC is in a “wait and see” approach, according to Tribute, I can just imagine what could be added to a game that uses its roster in fun ways. Cosmic Invasion is incredibly fun, but it is an experience that is over far too soon.

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion works because it pays tribute to its sources without being limited by them. Tribute Games makes a game that honors Marvel's cosmic history through fast-paced arcade action. The game encourages players to try new things, work together, use different characters, and play it again. Even though there are some small balancing issues and glitches, the game's combat system, story structure, art style, and music all work together to create a fun and exciting adventure.

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is a vibrant, chaotic beat ’em up that delivers on its promise of fun, fast-paced co-op action. With a solid character roster, rewarding progression, and energetic combat mechanics, Tribute Games shows a strong grasp of what makes the genre click. While a few mechanical quirks and missed opportunities hold it back slightly, the game remains a go-to pick for local and online multiplayer fans looking for accessible yet layered gameplay.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion hits the sweet spot between nostalgic arcade fun and modern polish. The Cosmic Swap system gives combat a surprising amount of strategy, the roster has no real duds, and the progression loop makes it easy to jump back in for another level or run.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion revitalizes the beat ’em up genre with a brilliant tag-team system and distinct hero mechanics that elevate its classic arcade roots. While the stunning pixel art and co-op chaos are delightful, the experience is slightly held back by repetitive enemy encounters and an unsatisfying, shallow progression system.

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion puts its peers on the ropes. This beat-’em-up will appeal to a large audience. If you love Streets of Rage or MARVEL, this will drive you crazy. The dated gameplay, pixelated visuals, and loud audience are brilliantly retro. Additionally, the ability to select your favourite superhero is a massive bonus. Accordingly, I think it’s great, and you should get a copy from the Xbox store!

Marvel Cosmic Invasion keeps things fun with a wide roster, sharp combat, and fast mission flow. The tag-team system gives each fight a different feel, and swapping heroes stays satisfying throughout the campaign. There are some tough difficulty swings and a few rough spots, but the variety makes up for them. It is a solid brawler with plenty of reasons to return.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a joyful and energetic celebration of what makes beat ’em ups so great, with the thrilling gameplay boosted by the presence of Marvel’s heroes, villains, and worlds. The varied roster, tag-team mechanics, fun combat, and ever-changing stages keep fights fresh and exciting, while the stunning pixel art and excellent soundtrack make it easy to get swept up in the action. It can be messy at times, sure, and a few difficulty spikes may frustrate, but these issues never stop Marvel Cosmic Invasion from being another brilliant beat ‘em up experience.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a fun beat 'em up game reminiscent of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, featuring dual-character gameplay and combo attacks. While the action is solid and the character roster is diverse, it lacks some flair outside of combat compared to its predecessor.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion continues Marvel Games' effort to experiment with the beloved IP. The use of fan-service and both obscure and iconic characters in the narrative is so well done, the gameplay mechanics are extremely fun to play around with, and the art style is a treat to look at. While there are problems with the game's difficulty spikes, limited replayability, short runtime, and lacking soundtrack, the strengths of the overall experience far outweigh its weaknesses.
