MARVEL Cosmic Invasion Reviews
MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is a very interesting beat’em’up that’s short, but sweet. It has a wonderful story, one that seems to be taken right out of the comic books. But it’s something new, refreshing, and it allows us to control iconic Marvel characters, along with lesser-known ones.
One of the best character rosters in the genre has found itself in a game where nobody's potential can flourish because of the short levels and a limited number of modes.

It's time to save the universe and defeat Annihilus!
MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is undoubtedly a love letter to the beat 'em up genre and 90s nostalgia. However, that fidelity to the past is also its biggest limitation.

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is a love letter to all Marvel fans. The game's roster has classic and new heroes that jump into the beat 'em up action. This title is so much fun!
As mentioned before, Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a very good title, and Tribute Games shows that it knows how to do a beat-'em-up well. The additions to the standard brawling mechanics make it a deep game for those wanting an evolution in the genre, but it remains simple enough for button-mashers to enjoy. The game runs at a good length and initially seems easy, but that changes once you start unlocking the modifiers. The amount of unlocks and challenges provide completionists with a good reason to return again and again.
The Cosmic Swap mechanic lets you play as more characters while adding a lot of depth and strategy. The lively spritework pops off the screen like it is a comic book come to life (it kind of is), emboldened by the stellar voice work and banger of a soundtrack. Cosmic Invasion rules.
Aside from some minor issues, more often encountered when playing alone, Marvel Cosmic Invasion is one of the best beat 'em ups currently available, and an absolute treat for Marvel fans.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion is pure nostalgia, embodied in one of the most fun beat'em ups of today. It's a must-have title for all generations of Marvel fans due to its huge variety of characters, combat system full of possibilities, and guaranteed fun thanks to a cooperative mode suitable for all ages.

A side-scrolling beat 'em up with a classic structure, but which introduces interesting new gameplay features thanks to a combat system inspired by Marvel vs. Capcom, allowing you to use two characters at the same time. The action is fast-paced and fun, and there is a wide range of playable characters. The only drawback is the lack of available modes, which leaves you wanting a little more variety.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion delivers exactly what it promises: a remarkable beat 'em up experience that feels like it came straight from the arcades, with wonderful pixel art and a huge amount of love for the brand and its characters.

My gaming chum and I had a wonderful time with MARVEL Cosmic Invasion so if you enjoy beat 'em ups then playing this gem of a game is a must. In fact, I think I'll put a little cape on my physical copy when it arrives in March. 🦸♀️

"Cosmic Chaos with Fun Tactics" Marvel Cosmic Invasion delivers a modern beat 'em up experience that blends arcade nostalgia with tactical depth through a character-switching system and aerial combat, along with a diverse roster of heroes and enjoyable team-based co-op. Despite the campaign's brevity and a few minor combat issues, the game succeeds in delivering a dynamic Marvel adventure that remains true to the source material and offers strong replay value, especially in co-op.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion takes steps forward that ultimately feel more like confirmation than evolution. This is not a negative judgment, and the game is far from mediocre. However, in a review context, I cannot ignore the limited progress made by Tribute Games. Although it improves some of the major flaws of TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, Marvel Cosmic Invasion remains closely tied to its predecessor’s foundations. Its gameplay and mechanics are its strong suit: seemingly simple, but rewarding when explored more deeply. Nothing to criticize regarding aesthetics and soundtrack: great care has gone into designing heroes, environments, and characters (including enemies and bosses). Animations further enhance each hero’s personality and are well crafted. The 1990s-inspired music is engaging and well suited to the context, energizing the entire experience. Unfortunately, Marvel Cosmic Invasion inherits the longevity issue once the main arc is completed. It tries, but doesn’t fully succeed. All things considered, Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a solid title that offers well-crafted mechanics and interesting ideas. A must-have for those who enjoyed TMNT and for anyone who appreciates a strong combat system.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a promising beat ’em up from Tribute Games that captures the spirit of classic arcade brawlers while embracing Marvel’s cosmic universe. Its pixel-art presentation, cooperative gameplay, and accessible combat system make it immediately fun to pick up, especially in multiplayer. While the gameplay loop can become repetitive over time and the difficulty curve stays fairly forgiving, the charm of the characters and fast-paced action keep the experience entertaining. Overall, it’s a nostalgic yet modern superhero brawler that arcade-style action fans will appreciate.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion aims for a revival of classic beat 'em ups, where controlling our favorite heroes through stages filled with threats was enough to leave us in awe. Their take on the theme focuses entirely on the variety of characters and different approaches, both terrestrial and aerial. However, it doesn't offer any additional content that would truly challenge us, placing more emphasis on the level design instead.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a joyful, confident, and beautifully crafted beat-’em-up that knows precisely what it wants to be. It celebrates the genre’s roots while adding just enough innovation to stand out, and its reverence for Marvel’s cosmic side gives it personality to spare. On Steam Deck, it’s close to perfect — smooth, stable, responsive, and wonderfully suited to handheld play. While repetition, limited progression, and occasional visual overload keep it from reaching genre-defining heights, the overall package remains highly entertaining, especially for fans of co-op play, classic arcade brawlers, or Marvel’s colourful roster of heroes. It’s easy to pick up, exciting to master, and hard not to enjoy.
