Outbound delivers a unique spin on survival exploration by turning an electric camper van into a fully customizable mobile base. Driving through scenic biomes and modifying your rooftop homestead is incredibly charming, and it works wonderfully as a cooperative experience. However, Outbound unnecessarily anchors its blueprint progression behind a slow, repetitive recycling grind that forces you to hunt constantly for garbage. If you have the patience to dig through piles of litter for resource coupons, there is a cozy road trip worth taking here.
Outbound is at its best when it leans into its core fantasy: a peaceful, mobile life based on exploration, sustainability and creative building. The camper van customization system is awesome, with surprising depth and freedom. The world is beautiful and the atmosphere is always soothing.
There is definitely the potential for a great cozy game here, though the developers still need to work on several mechanics and improve the game’s technical condition.

While the crafting system can feel overly granular at times and some quality-of-life features are missing, these issues rarely break the overall experience. Minor technical rough edges and occasional interaction quirks are noticeable, but not disruptive enough to overshadow the core gameplay loop. Outbound is ultimately a slow-burning survival sandbox that prioritizes comfort over challenge — and largely succeeds in that vision.

Outbound is a road trip that rewards patience over speed. Square Glade Games has built a world worth getting lost in, with a van customization system that keeps you tinkering and a presentation that always makes the next horizon look worth chasing.
Outbound is a game with its own rhythm, and it doesn’t try to please everyone — something that becomes clear within just a few hours. It abandons tension and urgency to focus on something simpler: building, exploring, and living in that world at your own pace. This design choice doesn’t always work. At times, the experience can feel monotonous, mainly due to the lack of variety in the world, the limited impact of the day-and-night cycle, and a pacing that demands a lot of patience. Even so, the game manages to captivate players in a very particular way.

Outbound is a pretty game with an addictive loop but unfortunately a slow-moving van isn't enough to differentiate in a sea of cosy/survival games.
Outbound is great for all “Cozy Game” fans who dream of living an independent life. The mix of base-building on the go and laid-back exploration keeps you engaged, even if there are a few minor issues with pacing and the overall layout.

Outbound has a lot of great elements to it. It’s fun, it has a lot of cute details, and the whole thing is extremely cozy. There is a lot to love about it, and it encourages you to take you time, sit around, and relax as you slide into your new life. There were some issues, the stamina being the biggest one for me, but if that doesn’t bother you, you will probably adore Outbound. Overall, it was a good time, and I look forward to completing it in the coming days.

Outbound is a game that, if given enough time, could be good in the future. It has a wonderful world that can be filled with things and people to interact with. A wonderful building system that can be improved with better delivery of blueprints. And a road-trip experience that can be improved with sound. Unfortunately, much like its world, right now it’s a game with a shallow gameplay loop that is difficult to stay interested in. Maybe it’s more fun with friends?
Outbound is a relaxing explore-and-craft game that impresses with its core idea of building your home through a mobile “set up camp” system, blending road trip vibes with surprisingly flexible construction. While the grind, slow movement speed, and occasionally confusing blueprint navigation can be frustrating, the overall experience still feels engaging. Its simple but charming visuals and occasional crafting or terminal mini-games add light variety, and the laid-back atmosphere works especially well in co-op with up to four players—though I only played solo.
