The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is a huge surprise. In times when The Legend of Zelda goes open-world sandbox and the Ys series becomes more and more JRPG, a classic action-adventure in the vein of The Legend of Zelda and Secret of Mana is truly welcome. With 30 to 50 hours, depending on how much you explore the world of Philabieldia and its clever time travel mechanic and urge to explore, The Legend of Elliot earns its place among the classics.

The Adventures of Elliot proves it can step outside their comfort zone and deliver a gorgeous, compact adventure that makes up in heart what it lacks in scope.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales finds its place as a classic action RPG with Zelda-like exploration, smart time-travel ideas and a beautiful HD-2D presentation. Its story is predictable, but the combat, bosses and atmosphere make it very easy to recommend.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is an excellent adventure game that will bring players back to the glory days of the genre. With multiple eras to explore, over-the-top boss fights to take on, and a surprisingly captivating story, it is a journey well worth taking despite its few shortcomings.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales isn’t without blemishes, but it’s still a great action-adventure game that continues to prove why the HD-2D art style is among the best around.

It’s an easy game to dive into for a spell here or there or sink hours in, and it’s one I’ll be recommending to anyone who has ever enjoyed a certain mute hero. However, I’ll do so with the recommendation that the volume be turned down once you meet a certain should-be-mute fairy.

Despite the successes of The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, I can't help but feel it doesn't make full use of its time-travel potential, both in its overworld and in its story.

The seamless change from turn-based to action combat proves how timeless the HD-2D art direction is. The Adventures of Elliot not only looks beautiful, but has a story to match. Elliot's journey transcends time and space to deliver an emotional gut punch that'll stick with me for a while.Despite performance issues on Switch 2, there's tons of gameplay variety and fun exploration, which makes it one adventure you'll want to make time for.

A disappointing hotchpotch of borrowed ideas that pays homage to some of the best games of the 16-bit era but forgets to add anything of its own.

The Adventures of Elliot certainly has room for improvement, but it leaves such a good impression that, in the end, the positive aspects far outweigh the negatives.

Every once in a while there's a game where I put off completing my review because I'm busy trying to grab the Platinum trophy. The Adventures of Elliot is one of those games. I found entire evenings and weekends disappearing, and even when repetition threatened to set in, I found new ways to shake up the game. Look past the odd pacing foible and this is an excellent action adventure to sink into.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales serves as a charming love letter to the golden age of top-down action RPGs. While its narrow world design fails to capitalize on its time-travel setting, the experience is heavily elevated by snappy and surprisingly deep combat and a flexible character customization system, making the game one worth experiencing for fans of the genre looking for a modernized take on a classic formula.
