Splatoon Raiders maintains its infectious ink-shooting core but remixes it into a loot-driven, gadget-enhanced adventure RPG. It sacrifices competitive multiplayer for deeper single-player/co-op depth, customisation, and narrative focus, offering a fresh direction that complements rather than replaces the mainline games. After a trilogy of Turf Wars, it feels good to finally work together with other players on an adventure on such a grand scale. Splatoon 3 isn't going anywhere, and even Splatoon 2 is still active, making Raiders absolutely a justified experience.
Fans will find the story elements fun, and the narrative carries the same attitude as the previous Splatoon titles, but there’s still so little of substance there.
Splatoon Raiders is a partially refreshing spin-off with new gameplay aimed at rich loot, fast combat system and vast customization making this hunt for treasure refreshing even after 15 hours. The co-op or multiplayer components'cannot be denied, but if you want to honor your Splatoon skills in different ways, this is one charming title to do so.

Splatoon Raiders proves that the world of Splatoon works just as well outside of online competition. Nintendo has created an incredibly satisfying action game with very well-designed progression, although it lacks greater mission variety and a more engaging story. If you enjoy fast-paced combat, character progression and the distinctive atmosphere of this series, the Japanese developers’ latest release should provide you with plenty of fun.

Ultimately, it's much more than just a tutorial that's been expanded. Splatoon Raiders is a fully-fledged game in its own right and will appeal to fans of the main series as well as those who were clamouring for more single-player content, although we can also explore it with others if we wish.

Splatoon Raiders offers enough new ideas to feel fresh without throwing away what made the series so enjoyable in the first place
Splatoon Raiders marks an excellent entry to the Splatoon franchise I’d wager, and anybody that enjoyed the previous games but might’ve wanted a more fleshed out solo experience is gonna have a blast here.
Splatoon Raiders is the kind of game that the Splatoon series had always been missing before this point. As a fan of single-player games over multiplayer games, it naturally wound up appealing to me more than the mainline games do. Without the typical baggage of Splatoon’s online play such as map and game mode rotations, the end result is something that feels more focused and considered towards single-player and cooperative play. The surprisingly high skill curve and daunting enemy designs also makes it one of the toughest Nintendo games in a while, with a real mean streak that allows the customization elements to be fully leveraged. This in conjunction with a surprisingly long main campaign makes for a game that’s easy to enjoy fully with friends or by your lonesome. Pretty much the only issue with it is that it’s somewhat wanting for variety, as all its got going on is the core Splatoon gameplay, which is as good as ever, but potentially not a good sell for everyone without the multiplayer or live service elements that help define it. While I don’t think the end result is quite as strong as it perhaps could have been, it’s very much a worthy entry in the Splatoon series.

Splatoon Raiders surprised me in the best way possible. I expected a fun solo experiment, but Nintendo turned it into a surprisingly deep spin-off with raids, smart loadout choices, great bosses and a fun co-op system. Some raids might feel repetitive after a while, but the constant stream of weapons, gadgets, mods and upgrades kept me hooked from start to finish. This isn’t just something to play while waiting for Splatoon 4, it’s proof that Splatoon can work really well outside of its usual multiplayer comfort zone.
Even though I was sceptical at the beginning, Splatoon Raiders successfully strips away the competitive multiplayer, and succeeds as a phenomenally addictive single-player looter-shooter experience. An incredibly satisfying gameplay loop, familiar gunplay, fluid mechanics, and deep build customisation make it a brilliant new direction for the franchise.

Splatoon Raiders is precisely what fans of the series have been waiting for. It features excellent shooting mechanics and a huge variety of weapons and gadgets to choose from. All that’s left to do is grab a roller and start painting.
