You know you've hit gold when your biggest criticism of a game is that you just wanted more. Between the fast-paced, technical gameplay, the depth of the build mechanics, and the irreverent design that underpins the Splatoon series, this is an experience that's shockingly hard to fault. Go play it.

Splatoon Raiders is a real tonal shift for the series, and it works far more often than it falters. Splatoon Raiders holds its own alongside the grind-heavy RPGs it draws from, but there are still a few blank spots to fill before it can claim a spot at the very top.

Splatoon Raiders succeeds in its goal of expanding the series and delivering an excellent action game packed with customization options, with a focus on single-player gameplay.

Splatoon Raiders is more than a spin-off; it’s an incredible launching point for a new branch of more single-player adventures, combining some of the best parts of the original Splatoon trilogy and turning it into something that feels fresh.

Splatoon Raiders shines because it understands that the most important thing about a game is that it feels good to play. We're dealing with an exciting adventure, with controls that feel natural and a gameplay loop that's easy to grasp, but can also become challenging.

A well done shooter looter that adds enough Splatoon DNA to distinguish it from the rest with enough difficulty levels to appeal to everyone and short enough levels to make it flexible.

Splatoon Raiders maintains its infectious ink-shooting core but remixes it into a loot-driven, gadget-enhanced adventure RPG. It sacrifices competitive multiplayer for deeper single-player/co-op depth, customisation, and narrative focus, offering a fresh direction that complements rather than replaces the mainline games. After a trilogy of Turf Wars, it feels good to finally work together with other players on an adventure on such a grand scale. Splatoon 3 isn't going anywhere, and even Splatoon 2 is still active, making Raiders absolutely a justified experience.

Fans will find the story elements fun, and the narrative carries the same attitude as the previous Splatoon titles, but there’s still so little of substance there.

Splatoon Raiders is a partially refreshing spin-off with new gameplay aimed at rich loot, fast combat system and vast customization making this hunt for treasure refreshing even after 15 hours. The co-op or multiplayer components'cannot be denied, but if you want to honor your Splatoon skills in different ways, this is one charming title to do so.

Splatoon Raiders proves that the world of Splatoon works just as well outside of online competition. Nintendo has created an incredibly satisfying action game with very well-designed progression, although it lacks greater mission variety and a more engaging story. If you enjoy fast-paced combat, character progression and the distinctive atmosphere of this series, the Japanese developers’ latest release should provide you with plenty of fun.

Ultimately, it's much more than just a tutorial that's been expanded. Splatoon Raiders is a fully-fledged game in its own right and will appeal to fans of the main series as well as those who were clamouring for more single-player content, although we can also explore it with others if we wish.

Splatoon Raiders is such a fun action platformer that it's really hard to put down, especially as you keep unlocking new features and gadgets that make the incredibly entertaining combat even more personal and engaging. Plus, it's so stylish that you'll feel cool just for playing it. 🦑

Splatoon Raiders is the Splatoon gameplay experience perfected. While the narrative and visuals take a backseat, and there are moments where it does not feel like a Nintendo Switch 2 game, the emphasis on character work, charm, customization, satisfying combat, and replayability more than make up for these shortcomings. Even if Raiders does not recapture the magic that I felt with the very first Splatoon, if this is the foundation that future entries will build on, then Splatoon 4 is in great hands.

Splatoon Raiders successfully breaks away from the series' multiplayer-first routine by delivering a dedicated single-player campaign in the looter-shooter genre, all while keeping the franchise's signature fast-paced gameplay intact. It also stands out with a great variety of enemies and bosses, paired with rewarding loot that keeps you running more raids to upgrade your weapons and abilities. So overall, it's a strong, promising start for a new Splatoon spin-off.

Splatoon Raiders is peak character design and one of the best looking Nintendo Switch 2 games to date. As said before, each level is unique and the graphics beautiful. The base itself is very detailed, even when you ink around a workstation and then use the station, the ink is still visible. The workstations themselves have a lot of detailed parts and items laying around giving it that lived-in feel. Overall the world detail, Salmonid visual upgrades, and the equipment you hold all look great and give Splatoon Raiders a top spot graphically on the Switch 2.

Splatoon Raiders is not only a truly successful spin-off of the series but also - thanks to its varied mechanics, engaging gameplay loop and elements of randomness - an extremely entertaining and at times challenging game. Whether you play alone, with friends or online with others, you will almost certainly quickly find yourself hooked, thinking to yourself "Just one more round." after every finished treasure hunt.

Splatoon Raiders places Deep Cut at the centre of a fantastic adventure and gives the series’ ink combat a rewarding campaign structure that can be played solo or cooperative multiplayer. I loved following the group across the Spirhalite Islands, improving my ink arsenal, and taking on increasingly-challenging Raids with higher stats and better loadouts. The colourful setting and energetic soundtrack exude Splatoon’s personality, and it's one of the best presentations yet for a Nintendo Switch 2 game.
